Go anywhere else! Ive played a lot of golf and am experiencing the longest round of my life. Watching 2 to 3 groups tee off. No Marshall, No cart girl and they are charging way too much for middle of the day while its 90 out! Great greens, challenging short course, but staff is underwhelming.
I found this course, overall, to be somewhere in between 3 and 4 stars, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt because I played on a foggy morning following a very rainy period, which probably effected the conditions somewhat. What to like: the course is designed to fit with the natural terrain. It follows a canyon out, and then back, crossing a small stream a couple of times. Its a very scenic area. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They have a nice driving range, and there is a package deal that is quite attractive if you can get to the course often. The greens were in excellent condition. Less favorable: The fairways on the par 4s are a little ragged, but that could be partly due to the recent rains. Many holes require real precise strikes. I lost 5 balls on hits that I thought were pretty dang good. Again, this could also be due to the soggy conditions and overgrown rough. I cant comment on the traps. They looked to be in good condition but, again, it was very wet out. Price is fair.
Website out of date regarding prices/policy. COVID Policies in place for reservations and play but not uniformly followed by staff or golfers. Poor management, no response to questions or concerns. Very cheap place to play and you get less than what you pay for with regard to booking reservations and course management. Pace of play incredibly slow as groups are frequently greater than four or just grow to more than four and ball hunters abound. Trash and beer cans litter the course. Fun course but dont expect much and you may not be disappointed, operative word is may. Hope Management Changes soon.
Casual course to get back into the game. Give a ball take a ball. The fairways are narrow so watch that slice. Good luck and happy hunting.
This place is bad. $41 dollars for 18 on a low quality par 3 course is criminal. Second, the pace is horrendous. 4 and a half hours on a par 3 course is absolutely unacceptable. Also, there is OB surrounding every single hole, probably because they were too cheap to clear it away. Absolute trash.
Had a great time with my Brother .We played with Bob & Leo.
Awesome my wife hit a hole in one on #17
Nice course. Didnt see anything about it online, but golf carts are only available for seniors and ADA (at least for now). Not a big deal. Just no obvious notice until you check in.
Super nice staff. Tee area could be improved, narrow short course
Great little executive par 3 with a driving range. If I lived in the area I would consider looking into thier membership pass. I will offer one warning, if you cant hit the ball very straight every time like myself, bring plenty of balls...
It was a fun course! Beautiful scenery too! The womens bathroom was great and surprisingly the port-a-potty on the 15th hole was nice. Actually up to womens standards. All around a great time! I highly recommend!
Never played the course because its very narrow, so I dont lose any balls. So I use the range, and have a membership with it too. However, the turf used for the range is kind of slanted, so it feels weird to hit
Great service...fun course, very friendly
A great place to play. Were beginning golfersbur had fun on the course. The course runs in a canyon so the fairways can be narrow and the rough pretty rough so it would be fun for a more experienced golfer to play also.
Went to the range here . 4 stars for the staff and price. It would be 5, but your hitting off mats.
A fine challenge of your accuracy.
Recent rains have greened out most fairways makes for nice approch shots! Have fun..!!
For a municipal course its very good. I play better on a course that is on tours but this one is fun! Alot of wildlife plays through. It is inexpensive and lots of equipment( not the best but not terrible) for rent. Nice putting green and driving range.
Shouldn’t even get one star WORST GOLF COARSE IN CA never go here the night lights fall down in the middle of the day major safety hazard ! Horrible none carrying staff, maintenance sat in golf cart staining at us while there was a giant hole in the green in front of us. Golf carts not maintained everything about this place is trash.
Fun and tight little par 3. Warning if its hot, nothing as far as drink dollies, and there is only one port a potty on the 18hole duration. The course doesnt cross over from fron to back at the club house, so no opportunity to fill up or let out. Plan ahead and be fun. Economical course to play
Was saddened that the American Flag was not taken down at closing last night wasnt luminated all night. Hadnt played here in many years surprised greens were nice !! The rest of the course typical American golf poor ....
I thought it was fun, but when I booked the tee time I didnt know it was a, all par 3 course. A little expensive for that In my opinion. But a good way to practice your par3 s and short game.
Great course where every hole is a challenge. Hit them straight or youll be in the creek or hillside grass. Greens where in great shape also!
Good to golf at. FootGolf is fun and different. Love this place
Good for a short hike, up and down some steep trails
The Players club is well worth it. Getting 2 buckets of balls per day to practice and inexpensive costs for the course makes this neighborhood golf course worth going to. Just learning or want to improve your game? Take lessons from Jason Petrie. Hes an amazing and patient instructor.
Good spot to work on the range, get some short game play
Great little course hidden away in the canyon. Great for beginners. You can rent clubs there for $15.
Just a fun golf casual golf course! Pretty much all par 3s but its just a relax atmosphere. And pretty inexpensive compared to most courses in San Diego. I played for $20 and well worth it. We try and come out here every few weeks.Staff is all friendly. Try and get out as early as you can, the course can back up on later tee times.
Tecolote canyon golf course is just its just not a golf course its a it it is a home away from home a great place to play and and be with friends I recommend it highly have been going there for over 25 years and that it never gets old.
-Showed up at 2:15 to get in some work at the range to find out the ball machine was temporarily unavailable - had to rush on the range after it got fixed.-They had no carts ready at 2:40 for a 3pm tee time-Booked a 3pm tee time 2 days in advance as a foursome. Showed up to a group of 12!!! Teeing off during my slot.-Joesph at the counter told me I couldn’t tee off before them even though I had checked in first.
Nice friendly neighborhood course.I keep waiting for Carl the groundskeeper to give me a golf tip.
Got rained out definitely great for ur short game
Inlove this place. Super fun
A real gem for the money. Theyve been doing a lot of work with many re-sodded tee boxes, new artificial turf driving range and some rehab on the clubhouse. The greens are in fantastic shape and a real challenge. Course is narrow, set in the canyon and challenging so bring some extra balls. The monthly membership deal is almost too good to be true.
I like this place
Love my tecalote golf club my home away from home
Good executive course to practice short game. However, they have opened it up to Footgolf (a version of soccer to kick into a giant hole side-by-side to regular golf holes). It was a distraction because they are learning the etiquette of golf as well. So player beware.
Tight course but fun. Great for practice!
Always a good time playing tec with your boys. Diabolical Sam sneed design!
If you are looking for a driving range that is closed more than it is open, this is the place for you!
Great! A very challenging par 58. Greens were punched 10 days ago. Should be super in about a week
Have alot of recycling in the dumbster
Convenient, easy to get a tee time. The ladies working in the clubhouse will up sell you on rates (2 people had carts, 1 without and would not accomadate unless paid $29 p/round). Course conditions used to be awesome, now gone to rocks and dirt w/ patches of grass. Course conditions and staff have really gone downhill.
My 10 yr old son and I golf here all the time. Very reasonable rates, as in dirt cheap. On virtually every hole, its like you are the only ones around. Tight fairways and more than a few challenging holes. We usually do twilight and its a very peaceful way to end a work day having fun with your kid. Apparently, they also have free group lessons but I havent taken any, though I probably should.Ive seen some poor reviews about course conditions but frankly I think thats just being picky. Its an executive course, and a tough one at that. Hit the green and you dont need to worry about a dirt patch here and there.
One my my favorite courses in SD. If you are looking for an affordable round of golf that wont take all day, but still want a challenge, TC is the place. Plus they have footgolf if you want to get out and your group cant play real golf. Its super fun day either way.
Have always loved this course. Short yet challenging. Over 30 years playing here and its always been in good to excellent shape. Bring extra balls as errant balls are not worth getting as Ive seen rattlesnakes mating on the cart paths (not to mention whats in the scrub brush and the canyon walls).
Really had a great time here. It was my first time ever golfing at a course so I cant really compare it. But the price was good at $15 a person for twilight, and the course seemed clean. The staff was helpful.
Tecolote is a solid option to practice your game in the city!
Foot Golf is fun apart from taking cover from golfers firing balls around your ears.
Tight fairways and hazards make this course a challenge (bring an extra ball). This par 58 executive course can be completed at your leisure well under 3 hours and the green fees are very reasonable. There are always spots available at the driving range right next to the clubhouse, and you have your choice of grass or mats, and they have a roaming beverage/snack cart in addition to the cafe and pro shop. Definitely not post-card material but a great facility nevertheless.
Not bad for what you pay. First time golfing here, and I spent more time looking for the next hole than I did golfing. Would be nice to have some sort of map because it can get very confusing since its mainly Par 3s and all so close together. I plan on coming back, and hopefully Im not dumb enough to get lost twice.
Very challenging executive with minimal amenities. Great price and an excellent discount deal if you want to play it a couple times a week.
Fun course. Very tight fairways
Such a relaxing day hitting little white balls and chasing them down the green. Dont aim for the bunny rabbit if he pops up, you might hurt that little rascal!
Get ready for a long round. Make sure to get the first tee time.
The driving range is ok and they offer deals with the buckets from time to time. The club house is ok, and the ladies who work there are very nice. The staff is very helpful and professional. At first I thought this was going to be easy, but I have to say one of the most toughest Par 3 courses Ive ever played. FYI if you are wondering what the orange flags are for, that is for soccer golf. I play here at least twice a month to work on my short game.
Cool and neutral
Great people . Challenging ..fun
A fun little course, you need to hit straight or the rough will eat your ball every time.
Considering what I know about this course.. its a Good course for the price.. lots of fun.. Good times with friends
Just next to the town course! Good for the practice...
Course leaves a lot to be desired but for the price its a great 3 hours
Its a very challenging course and with really cheap price. The range is pretty much dirt but its works.
Good for the price. Not an easy course.
Very challenging executive style course. For the price it was a good time.
Love this course. Very nice greens. Never been to the driving range but it doesnt look very nice.
Reasonably priced fun course
Reasonable golf - ball washers often have no water or falling apart - sand traps....no sand...hard pan! Spotty drink cart service, Watch the Marshals....some just flat our grab balls while your golfing.....including yours!
So much fun and very casual
Very challenging for a short course. I like it.
Fun course. I will play again when I come to San Diego.
Pace of play -excellent conditios prino
Very narrow better bring a lot of balls rook
GOOD PLACE TO PRACTICE
Goat pasture.
Luv this tough par 58 course.playing here over 25 years and hasnt got any easier.
Good for practice
Great golf,challenging greens,good birding.
The driving range is adequate and the course is challenging.
Cheap rates, decent greens

Great challenging 3 par executive course

A lot of hazards
Great short course
