Great location, FAST greens, not that long but kinda hard :0. It gets harder with more strokes...Nice range and putting green.
Recently had my wedding here and it is safe to say Riverwalk knows what they are doing. From start to finish the event went perfectly. The venue has a beautiful view of the golf course and the clubhouse is well maintained. What was great about having our wedding here was that we did not have to share space with another event going on like you would at a hotel or another event hall. Parking was ample easy and most importantly free! Many hotel and venues charge nowadays. Food selection was excellent and quality was outstanding. Most importantly customer service was top notch. Staff were friendly and helpful in every way possible answering questions and helping to make special requests possible. If anyone is looking to have a wedding or other type of special event You should definitely consider Riverwalk.
This golf course is okay but it is overpriced. $60 to golf for an average SD course and $20 for a cart. The only good thing Id say is that they often have open tee times.
Went here last week and there was a homeless guy in the parking lot with a van scaring people. This week at the driving range a guy decided to trim and row the grass mid afternoon with people at the range. Literally constant dander and grass flying in my face for an hour. It’s a totally mismanaged course and way overpriced for the quality. Way better courses in the area.
Tee box in horrible shape, fairway poorly managed but the greens are great.
Course was in great shape. Enjoyed the round. Nice course in the middle of the city. Hate to see it go.
Fairly good shape. $20/pp for cart. Bring your own disinfecting wipes....
Very professional staff, they are doing a great job with the new normalEven the range was set up for social distancing.
Great course!!! 1 more bunker would be great on hole 7 but it’s great!
We just had our wedding there in sept 2019 and it was amazing. The guests couldn’t stop talking about the market lighting, food, layout, drinks and staff. Tina, Madison, and Ryan made our night wonderful and stress free. Only item we didn’t like was the bar still had guests upon arrival and this area was supposed to be closed off so the bride could hide away. Since it was a gay wedding we needed that second secluded spot.Other than that, we were beyond taken care of and the night went by so quick! We wish we could relive that moment a million times over. Thank you so much to all that were involved
A true 72 Par course that has a resort feel with a city aesthetic
Prices are reasonable and tee-times are available. Friars / Sunset is all chewed up because they are tearing it down over the next few years but the other 2 are OK.Excellent value on beginner (small group) lessons. I struggled on my own for a bit before taking them and only wish I had sooner. Would give that program 5 stars for anyone new to the game.
Nice course. Greens and fairways good
We just had our wedding here on Saturday, June 22, 2019. It was absolutely perfect and more. The venue itself is a must. If you are still deciding on a venue then keep Riverwalk in mind. We had actually booked ours somewhere else and when we found Riverwalk we switched to hosting our wedding here. Absolutely no regrets. The venue and entire staff are like a family. They all work together as a team and are always attentive and passionate about their work. I am so impressed with the culture that has been built at this work place. You can tell they have very high morale and wonderful working relationships with one another. That is a true gift. Thank you for making our day better than We could have dreamed. Nothing but amazing things have been said about the day from family and friends as well.
Riverwalk is very central to San Diego core, has great deals with the green membership, Friars course is a let down and no foreseeable improvements. Staff from bar and shop are great, but pace can get really slow especially on weekends. I believe if they have a hotline for reporting slow players, it would improve the speed.
It was a fun course and overall it was in pretty good shape.
I had my wedding earlier this month at Riverwalk Golf Club and it was beyond spectacular--from the getting ready process to the day of---everything was exceptional. And I have only heard wonderful things from guests about how much they loved the food, the after party, and how when they look back at the wedding, it was the most beautiful wedding that had ever attended. Tina and Ryan are amazing and I highly recommend reaching out to them so that you can truly have the wedding of your dreams.
Rich is an amazing bartender. Best course in SD
Always fun to playPlease dont sell to developers, to great of a course
Fast greens!
Had a tee time booked on Black Friday. Unfortunately, the river flooded the course. These guys went above and beyond, calling to let me know, as well as giving recommendations for other courses in the area. So helpful as an out-of-towner.
The price was very good and the staff was nice. The course is a nice layout however, the fairways were quite rough. Greens were ok at best. There was a tournament going on which made for a very slow round. Need to keep the pace of play moving.
Had a great golf outing at Riverwalk while visiting our son. The course was firm and challenging. Speed of play was excellent for the day after July 4th. Pro Shop was very accommodating to our needs for rentals. Recommend it.
Very wet this morning. Greens in good condition.
This venue was amazing and turned out beautifully. The food, service and help were better than we could have hoped. Would definitely recommend!
I hosted a 25th wedding anniversary party at Riverwalk Golf Club last January 20, 2019. It was an awesome party and everyone at the gold club were helpful from the planning till the day of the event. Sarah and Ryan were amazing. They made sure that everything was smooth especially on the day of the event. Our guests enjoyed the food and the ambience at the venue. I highly recommend this place and looking forward to my next event here. 2 thumbs up for Sarah and Ryan. Great job! Excellent work!
Its still OK. not the best condition but not crowding at weekend.
As most of the golf courses in San Diego are situated a little out of the metro area of San Diego, this course is a perfect fit for businessmen or women who want to sneak in a quick 9 at a nice course between meetings or events.Riverwalk is a beautiful oasis in Mission Valley, with fast greens that are in great shape.Staff is very friendly, and the course itself is stunning...Dont miss it!
Course is not worth the rates they are charging. $71.00 is WAY overpriced for the experience. Burnt fairways all over the place, you can play MUCH nicer places - Maderas/Steele Canyon for same rate. Course is very much in the same shape as Mission trails and Admiral Baker.
Was excited to play some golf at the driving range and found out the people who give you your golf clubs and ticket left early. Disappointed and upset the employee I talked to hours before didn’t warn us. Apparently they leave when they please, even if it’s before closing hours.
We worked the Riverwalk staff for a group of 16 golfers. It was for the wedding of my son, so the guests were all family. The events coordinator was awesome and had everything ready to go. We felt welcomed from beginning to end. Everyone had a blast. Afterwards, we enjoyed good food and drinks in the 19th hole. Great experience. Well be back for sure. I highly recommend the facility.
The FLEX Learning program is a great way to get introduced to golf in a non-threatening, casual way. It’s a good basis with solid instructors to get even the most novice golfer moving in the right direction. If you’re interested in making big improvements to your game, do yourself a favor a schedule a private lesson with Chuck Dodd. This PGA certified instructor knows the game and will cater to your personal style and ability. The courses are nice and the location is very convenient. Hope to get back there someday!
Just had my wedding at Riverwalk Golf Course yesterday. It was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better event manager. Alexis was great, she made sure that the wedding went according to pla. Decoration was amazing, everything I have envisioned surpassed my expectations. I am just speechless. Tina, the overall in charged also helped with the planning. They were both amazing. I highly recommend both person and venue for future events.
Good place and good weather
I had my wedding here 11/17/18 the Event coordinator Tina was very good at her job. She always stayed in touch, she was fast and efficient. Everything went smooth and turned out better than I imagined! The staff was so helpful the day of the event and Ryan also was so awesome to work with! Thank you so much RIVERWALK for helping make my one month wedding a success!!!
The course was a lot of fun. Cheers!
Great course!
Great location in the middle of Mission Valley, but when you play you dont feel like it. A good value for the location. You can get similar deals on nicer courses in East County and North County but youll have to drive up if you live in the city. Its 7 minutes from Little Italy Downtown San Diego! Great break for the work week. I can play 9 holes and be in the office before 9am. Happy Hump day!!!
I just finished a 5.5 hour round. Terrible conditions due to the rain.... thats understandable... heres what sucks is that they did not say anything when I booked the tee time about conditions or carry path only heres the kicker is they charged $75.00.Bye Falicia not playing this track anymore
We found this venue on The Knot and quickly booked it after contacting Sarah, the event sales director. She was so easy to contact and even more easy to work with. Let me also tell you that we booked it sight unseen. When we came to visit the venue 2 months before our wedding, we saw it at its worst. The grass was brown from being aerated and from 2 weeks of drought and they had just finished up with a golf tournament. The venue was a mess. I was so upset we had booked the venue and I said some things to Sarah that I am not proud of. She handled this crazy bride with grace and ease. She did not bat an eye. She listened to our disappointments and helped us problem solve hosting the reception out on the patio. She accommodated every one of our requests, including getting a craft beer in the keg instead of a domestic. When the day rolled around, her team went so above and beyond to make sure our day was special. Words literally cannot express my gratitude. It was the venues first wedding out on the patio (instead of in the banquet room) and it rained hard the night before. I thought we would have to move the reception inside, but Sarah held out and the weather could not have been more perfect that day. The ceremony overlooked the beautiful bridge and the grass could not have been more green. Absolutely and completely stunning backdrop for our very emotional vows. There was not a dry eye in the crowd. Sarah and her team helped us set up the table decorations and they made it simply magical. The photos by the waterfall made us feel like we had our wedding at a tropical paradise. The food and banquet manager (I think his name is Adam) also helped us make our day perfect. They accommodated our request to deviate from the menu with street tacos and sliders. Every single one of my guests commented on how amazing the food stations were. I would say the only hiccup was that the bartender thought we only had Rose and forgot to serve our Pinot until later in the night. We went home with a lot more wine than we thought we would. But honestly, our wedding was absolutely PERFECTION.Thank you Sarah and the Riverwalk Golf Club for making our ceremony and reception magical. We will treasure every single memory.
I get that its Southern California and were in a drought but the conditions do not warrant 79+ dollars to play. The greens were fine. And that was about it. perhaps in non-drought conditions it would be fine. But when I pay upwards of 60-70 dollars I expect to play somewhere decent. The conditions warranted like a 20-30 dollar greens fee. Not 80. Also found the pro shop staff and starter to be less than helpful for someone who hasnt played there before. Overall its not a bad place. Just not anywhere near being worth 79 dollars or more to play it. I can play Torrey Pines for less than that and Coronado for less than half that. Both much better value. Probably wont be back.
Wonderful venue, great view of the golf course from our tables. Service was excellent. Thank you to Sarah and the entire team for accommodating my table setup request and making our work reunion brunch a memorable event. Well definitely be back.
Staff is phenomenal. They remember my name, and treat me like a king, eventhough I dont spend a lot of money there. The greens are always fast and true. The fairways are in rough shape. Lots of water holes makes it exciting.
Love this course!!! Perfect for everyone! My husband and I will definitely be back soon!! He’s the avid golfer and loved the course conditions! The staff was so nice and the food was delicious! Highly recommend!
We have had our office holiday luncheon at Riverwalk for the last 3 years and have enjoyed it every year. The buffet food is delicious!
I love to host my annual themed golf tournament at Riverwalk. Its a great location, very accommodating and is a great time. I would definitely recommend this course.!#theluebe
Hosted an event for a party of 12 at Riverwalk and it could not have gone more smoothly.
Not a bad course. Three nines, I didnt play Friars. Greens were excellent but the course suffered after the floods 10 days before. Still playable though. Practice facilities OK but off mats. No chipping green but a good putting green. Play can be a little slow but on the whole enjoyed the course.
Nice golf course. All elevated greens. Great greens, good traps. The staff is really best; Carl, Travis, Joe, Mike, John, Ryan.... They also have a great terrace and really good food.
My son and his wife held their wedding at Riverwalk 2 weeks ago. I was so happy and impressed with the staff of Riverwalk. Everything was set up beautifully, our guests were all accommodated, they made the whole event fun smoothly and very professionally. From the food servers, bartenders and to our main contact/coordinator Alex....literally the best staff!! Alex was Awesome!! She was quick, attentive and right there when we needed her she made sure all was taken care of. And the food was amazing!!! I kept hearing the guests commenting on how the delicious the food was. I would highly recommend having a wedding or any event at Riverwalk from the staff to the beautiful view you are sure to have a very nice time!! Thank you and thanks again Alex!!!
Everytime I go to Riverwalk I have had a great time! It is a welcoming environment and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The course is in great shape and theyre always on time. They have a great patio set up so after golf its fun to grab a beer and some food and just hang out. Its a great atmosphere for a wedding or event...very open and inviting and the staff goes above and beyond! I hear they have new craft beer selections so Im looking forward to getting back there. Definitely the best course in SD!!
Great, friendly staff! Really enjoyable experience in the restaurant and golf lessons. The GM, Brendan is extremely helpful and knows his stuff!
Absolutely love playing this course. Always have a great time and the location is perfect. If youre visiting the area definitely get out there, youll have a great time. Im a hack golfer and but find it challenging but not over-kill.Pretty affordable rates as well compared to most courses. Good beer prices too.
Nice little course with great staff. The fairways on one of the 9 holes was very wet and many fairways closed. Other than that it was good.
Staff was amazing and the course was a steal for the price. Greens rolled smoothly and pace of play was fast. Would play at this course again.
We played today and it was in terrible shape. They water the course so much you’d think it was a desert course, not one a few miles from the ocean. And way overpriced. $59 senior rate for a course in this bad shape is ridiculous. Spend some money on your course!
My little group uses Riverwalk at least once or twice a month cause its convenient...centrally located. The greens are typically in good shape.
Great Location !But my favorite thing about this resort is the prices !!!
Fairways seem to be degrading. More dead grass and dirt areas than I previously recall. Staff is courteous, food is good and pace of play excellent.
Riverwalk is unfortunately falling apart, and it starts with the staff and commitment of the ownership. Had a 6:40 tee time the other day and they put a 5some in front of us. No explanation, no marshal, and no chance to play through. It was a 4 hour 45 min round. Unacceptable for the second group off in the morning. To make matters worse the pro shop said that was normal and expected pace of play. I have never seen a staff care so little for pace of play and customer experience. These arent hard things to fix either. Dont double book tee times, dont send 5somes off in the morning, put a marshal out, and enforce pace of play. That is probably my last round at Riverwalk.
I must leave. This is a perfect example of what I can find out of town. I go about getting a new one for the team. For example I enjoy nice cut trimmed to come over and play with your acta. Yes yes yes enjoy. Dont go to Negtrice Golf Club. They actually cut their own grass.
The staff was friendly, prices were fair, and the pace of play was great. After my round I had lunch on the patio of the Sunset Grill and it was very enjoyable. The food was delicious and the view was to die for. I also heard that they are getting peanut butter beer soon!
This review is for the Ceremony/Venue portion of the Riverwalk Golf Club.I first came to the Riverwalk Golf Club for Easter Brunch 2017 with my MIL (not known yet) and we had an amazing time enjoying our brunch overlooking the bridge from their veranda/patio. Taking in all the views in such a quiet place of Mission Valley, you would have never known you were in between a major freeway (8 & 163) and street (Friars Road). I made a mental note, this would be a great place to host a wedding or event, as I am a corporate event planner. Also, mental note that this was the most affordable unlimited mimosa brunch in the city! :)Fast forward 8 months, my husband and I got engaged and the first place I thought was RWGC. I wanted a venue that was centrally located for our SD guests and hotel circle for visiting guests, had plenty of free parking, ceremony & reception were in one venue and an in-house catering with a reasonable F&B minimum. I looked at many more venues, but RWGC checked EVERYTHING off my list. We booked as soon as we came to this realization with Sarah (RWGC sales director), who was very accommodating and provided some great suggestions and layout.Ive only planned and only plan to plan one wedding, so I wasnt sure what the expectation was for the venue. As a corporate planner myself, I think I expected more follow up from the RWGC team to ensure the set timelines they suggested in their wedding guide were met by their client. I believe I didnt do much communication with RWGC team until the weeks leading up to the wedding and their tastings. PS. Id recommend that if you choose a menu option thats not available at their group tastings that you request a private tasting. I went to the group tasting and none of the items on my menu were being served, which kind of is a waste of time, although the group tasting was a lot of fun and got to meet with RWGC vendors.I liked that RWGC doesnt require you to use their preferred vendors, and that Sarah was so flexible with my indecisive-ness on table drapes, type of chairs, etc. So many decisions for someone who could possibly be the most indecisive person when it comes to their own personal events.Im so happy that we had our wedding at RWGC, our ceremony was at the Mission One Tee Box that overlooked the gorgeous bridge with sunset, with our ceremony in the Presidio Banquet Room & Veranda. All of our guests enjoyed the venue, its views & food, and the great staff! Thanks RWGC!
I live near the golf course and have played it many times. It has recently been taken over by another company and it seems like cost cutting is their goal. The first thing that they did was take out the GPSs from the golf carts. They were really handy for both yardage and keeping score. It looks like they remarked the sprinkler heads again but this comes up short. The ball washers dont have any water in them. The lakes/ponds are being run dry. Maybe they dont want to pay for the water? The cart girl is very hard to find. On the bright side, the greens were in great shape.Riverwalk - stop the cost cutting. You are going to lose your clientele. There are many other golf courses to play.
Nice course. The Mission and Presidio fairways are under some much needed ground repair and the greens run fast. Not a bad play, especially when paying twilight fee.
Riverwalk Golf Club rated 3-1/2 stars: This San Diego golf course entertained a myriad of golfs legends while hosting the PGA tour during the 50s and 60s. The San Diego River, which runs directly through the course, is a prominent feature of the layout, contributing to the beauty and challenge of the course.
Great venue, Great staff, we had an awesome Golf tournament. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.
This course was nice and a lot of fun!
Greens are great Rough is ok. Fairways are not so good Sure would like to see the RW of a few years ago
I can see what some people talk about when they mention the fairways, they are kinda half diet half grass. Im new to golf I personally like this course and especially when I get it for 15 bucks with a cart on golf now.
Field was in good shape, but the staff was the problem. First one of the ladies that would drive around selling refreshments complained that people werent tipping enough and that we should tip her well, then we received a complaint from an older staff member who thought we were trying to play 8 per hole even though we were waiting for the foursome before us to finish! How about asking, before yelling and criticising people?! Great course ruined by the staff....so sad.
Nice public course
Just finished a quick 9 holes before work! This course is one of the best in San Diego and only 7 minutes from Downtown. The greens are world class and I just heard someone broke the course record with a 59. Great golf course in the heart of san diego AND great happy hour!!!Just finished another 18 at Riverwalk. Great weekend golf course in San Diego.
I think Riverwalk is a great course. We played it for many years and even on a hot day in San Diego County you have a nice breeze that rolls through Riverwalk. You have three nines from Presidio 2 Friars to mishon. All are fun and enjoyable. They also make a nice Bloody Mary on the course. It is a bit pricey at $9 and in the clubhouse they dont have any Mainline beers on tap they only have microbrews. Again a little pricey because their pictures are $24. Regular rates for $45 for around which is well worth it for the accommodations. I will also say the Marshalls are well informed and tactful as they officiate without over governing. Its a good time so if you havent tried Riverwalk you should. By the way the rumors that were floating around that they might be closing one of the nines apparently is incorrect.. the course was a bit dried out and the greens had been punched not too long ago but still the play was fast in the balls were rolling well. I think this is the first round ever that Ive seen 3 different cart girls at a single facility. They were definitely on for taking care of the golfers.
Great course!
Overpriced for local public course. I guess with all of the very nice courses in SanDiego I was expecting this place to to be a cheaper alternative. Its also very crowded and can get bogged down. We arrived 45 minutes early for our round and the ball machine on the range was empty. They guy never filled it so a whole bunch of us waited for like 30 minutes and nobody seemed anxious to help us.
Course was packed on Sunday afternoon, but starter was excellent and we found the rest of the staff very friendly and helpful. Could have used a marshall on the course, didnt see one. Conditions were fine, some dry spots, and greens got bumpy after 6pm. Other than that I always enjoy playing the track.
Great Customer service and perfect for setting up events!
After holding literally a dozen or so events at Riverwalk in the past, I was disappointed with this event. The course was in fair shape but the staff appeared disorganized.
Cant ask for a better experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful at check in and the starter got us set up and out on time. We played Presidio and Mission courses which are my favorite two. Presidio is tough and challenging and mission has an easier lay out but holds their signature hole, mission 3. Had a beer after the round and their new selection of craft brews on tap was pretty awesome. I will be back.
Really fun golf course and great event space.
My party and I certainly enjoyed our golf game but got rained out after nine holes. Unfortunately we were unable to get a rain check for the last nine as their policy does not allow it. Being visitors from out of town we did not have our own clubs and they charged a ridiculous amount of $35 per set. This made our cost so high that we were determined to play even in the rain. We made it a few more holes but had to give up as we were so wet and cold. I think the club should lower the cost of rentals and allow rainchecks in the unlikely event that there is rain. The course is well kept and the greens were in fairly good shape.
Couse in poor shape. Greens were the best part of the round. Over priced for the quality of play.
Course was beautiful and the staff was friendly. A little crowded but we were playing on Saturday at 1 so it was to be expected but all the other golfers were extremely nice about our slow pace (all beginners).will be back to play again.
One of my favorite courses in the Mission Valley area! Staff is super helpful and friendly and this is one of the best run courses ive been to.
Its a beautiful course but sometimes people hit balls into your fairway and they grabbed my balls or hit them. Long fairways and few challenging holes.
Fantastic golf course it is!
I was also there yesterday on Saturday. We had slow play and even though the marshall addressed the slow play ( 2 1/2 ) behind the groups didnt change their pace. Marshal indicated that the group got upset with him after the second request. After, the marshal asked us to play a different 9 rather than enforce the issue with the group. So either enforce your policies or get someone that will. We are not PGA professionals out here, we are rec. players trying to have a good time and experience. The course has had a good reputation why mess it up because someone wont take control.
Not worth the price that out of towners have to play. Fairways are a mess greens are just so so. Sand traps are a joke. No sand or too much sand.
This was the first time Ive played this course, had heard good things about it. So for $55 for 18 holes I decided to check it out. The staff in the pro shop and marshals on the course were not very friendly and welcoming. The nicest person was the lady working the bar.The Mission Course was in nice condition and played well. The Freyer Course was a disaster and I would not have payed $10 to play it. No one from the course warned us of this condition. The entire day (Saturday) there were other golfers on almost every hole playing out of our fairways...I dont know where these guys learned to play golf but it was very annoying constantly trying to figure out where these guys were coming from and dodging their balls all day. There was also 3 tournaments going on and at the end of the Freyers Couse one of the groups all gathered (about 20 of them) on the green to welcome the final foursome in front of us with loud cheers and taunting the foursome in play for the remainder of that hole.Dont think this is a course I will return to if this is a typical experience.
Its a nice course and facility that is unfortunately hampered by terrible service and poor dont care kind of staff. First time I played we experiences a complete failure of course management. As we turned to the tenth tee, giving us the right of way we were turning we came around the corner to see a line of people trying to tee off in front of us. The marshalls or starter was just putting people out with no regard to the players in the field. We had to fight our way off the tee to keep our spot. I was given a voucher for free play. the next time I played it wasnt much better, the staff at this course really have no idea whats going on.
Can you fish on this golf course
I always like this course, but the conditions were rough today. Lots of work being done. Maybe thats why it was cheap...
Great club, dont go after any rains, it floods badly.
Course in great shape! Love playing here!
Fun 3 9 hole courses. Its a must for mission Valley golf if you can get it at the right price.
