Fantastic hidden neighborhood gem. Tucked away in the unassuming yet challenging San Carlos hills, this park has multiple entrances, weaving through shaded hillsides on beautifully maintained singletrack. My dog and I highly recommend! (No bikes, NOT wheel friendly - lots of erosion minimizing stairs in lots of places)
Youll have to hike and its uphill all the way. It is worth it. A peaceful and serene healing place with great views. I like to think the reason I feel so much lighter on my way down is because of the tensions, stresses and mental knots I left behind.
Great hike with a good view
I love this park I hike here often with the dogs. Please make sure you check your pets and yourself regularly for Ticks because in the last month we found two ticks and one caused my dog to have tick paralysis. It can be deadly if the tick is not discovered. The ticks are very very small. Please look sharp and keep you and your pets safe.Hiking here is steep but lovely and a nice respite from walking on busy streets.Be mindful of the poison oak also. It’s plentiful in some areas like at the Brittan Ave entrance on the steep steps.
Discovered this delightful park while visiting from Boston. This is a great place for trail runners and is accessible from Eaton Avenue. There are multiple loops for any distance you want to run as the Eaton Trail links up with the trails in Big Canyon Park. Trail is single track with lots of rollers and steps for climbing intervals and is well marked and maintained.
One of the best views around
Great for a quick hike and some time in nature. Very accessible from mid peninsula
Great views. Benches, steps, bridges in good condition.
Easy street parking in the neighborhood. Doing both trails makes for a great for a casual weekend hike.
One of the best views youll find.
Didnt really get to see too much, but was very happy with the short hike I did do. Plan to go back on another day. I like the built-in stairs that are in the path that get you up an incline a little easier when its muddy
Small park with steep trails. Lots of side paths and herd trails that make it a bit confusing. But the signs are helpful and accurate. Good spot to hike if youre in the area
Great trails and view points
Nice place to go for a walk to get away from things.
This is not easy to find. Steep walking trail
NEIGHBORHOOD PARK with good hiking trails.
Very surprised how this place was so cool.
Beautiful trail with a gorgeous, 270 degrees vista point.
Hidden
Nice view, good for trail runs in the hills.
Small, practice course and quite crowded. Perfect for a quick and short game of Par 3s.
Well kept, shaded trails with lots of stairs to help out on the steep parts. The view from the lookout near the Loma Drive entrance is fantastic. The entrance across the road from Big Canyon Park starts off with about 75 stairs (great if youre jogging/running along Brittan Ave and want a little extra). There are a number of small trails and connectors that arent shown on the map, including a nice trail head where Tramanto Drive connects with Appian Way.The only downsides are that the trail itself doesnt offer a ton of great views, and there are a few spots where brush has been cleared and left trailside.
Awesome hike trail
Shaded trail good for young kids
Sooo much poison oak
