Perfect morning for walking the inside Water Loop trail, 1.2 miles around. After the rain, its only 72 degrees! Not too muddy, deer are out. You get to see the progress of the bridge that will connect the two parks.

Nice hiking paths. Plenty of shade trees along the trails. Pick nick tables and benches for rest stops. Guide signs and distance mileage along the paths. Went on Sunday and was not crowded and ample parking. In late afternoon good chance of seeing deer. If you are a nature lover this is a good place to visit!

This brings back so many memories from 14 years ago before this was even a park. I am so glad that they turned it into a park and did not develop it. There are some amazing trails and great rocks and trees to climb in here I suggest it for anybody

This is a great place to catch the Salado Creek trail. The trail head is a short distance to the Phil Harberger Park, which has bathrooms and water stations. Unlike the Phil Harberger Park, there is always parking at Voelcker. If you head North along the trail towards Huebner, you will likely come across some wild life. There is also an overlook above Salado Creek green belt. It is located to the right just before the parking lot. You can normally see some squirrels below. My only complaint is that there is a sign that states the gates close after sunset. Ive been on some long bike rides along the trail and have nearly had my car locked inside the park. The round trip distance North to Eisenhower Park along the trail is approximately 14 miles. The round trip distance South to Holbrook Park near Fort Sam Houston is about 26 miles. A shorter trip South would be McAllister Park, which is about 16 miles round trip. Right now, there are many sections of the trail under repairs so check back in Fall 2020.Finally, Blanco BBQ which is located by the park entrance is a great place to treat yourself after a long walk or bike ride.

Great trails for walking, biking, or running. Only drawback is people do not pick up the dog poo. Bags are strewn across the trails.

Hardberger Park has a variety of multi-level trails that go through wooded acreage filled with various plants, cactus, deer, etc. Our dog prefers meeting other dogs on the trails versus in the dog park. But there are two dog parks, one for smaller and one for larger dogs. There are also clean restroom facilities, ample picnic tables, childrens playgrounds, wash basins, and places to refill your water bottle or air your bicycle tires.

This parks trails are amazing. Theyre lengthy, shaded, wide, marked well, and made to walked or jogged on. Theres also trails set up for bikers. Benches are along the trails in shaded locations for those that need to rest or if you need to take pics. Pokemon Go is great at this park. It is covered in gyms and stops. The entrance has a water fountain and restroom. Theres also a playground and dog park in other parts of the same park. Parking is fabulous.

Ok this is a paved road to run or bike until you get to 1604,then its off road riding out to approximately Eisenhower Park or close to it fyi. Since I have a mountain bike didnt k ow where this went and it it a nice trail with water stops along the road also which is nice to have. From hardberger Park to 1604 and back is approximately 9 miles thats why I rode all the way out to Military Highway and to that park. That gave me a a extra 8 miles.

The Voelcker Trailhead is marked with just one of the many signs marking the paved trails that follow the Salado Creek Greenway. The paths are paved with concrete or cinders and are nice for the recreational walker, bicyclist or stroller pushing family. I love the greenspace, trees and white tail deer. San Antonio needs more parks more safe bicycle lanes and fewer type A drivers. Free.

This is a great place to access the Salado Creek Trail and the trails of Hardberger Park. There are deer often present, and there are usually plenty of parking places, although you have to find the hidden driveway behind Blanco BBQ. There is a bathroom (portapotty). The Salado Creek Trail is around 20 miles continuous paved and is great for walking, running or biking.

I rode the offroad biking trails in Salado Creek and they were great. The trails are not labeled so it is best to ride with someone that know the trails. These trails can be more technical than other trails such as those found at McAllister Park, especially if you follow the trail out passed 1604. The trails flow but they have a lot of loose rocks. At this time of year (JAN) there are is also quite a bit of leaves which can add to the loose rocks, making it difficult to take some paths quickly. overall, I would recommend these trails for both hiking and biking. The trails are along a sidewalk path, so you are able to easily access the sidewalk path if you get tired on the trails.
