Jordyn is the best server weve had in a long time, and she had great advice on how to bowl! Well definitely come back for her, and she recommends great drinks!
They dont really offer much for gluten free food. The kids loved the bowling. However, I wouldnt say it is the most kid friendly place. My niece had the sliders and she said they were amazing! The sausage plate that I had wasnt that great to me. My son had their buffalo chicken meatballs and loved them. The staff was amazing and friendly. They did genuinely seem excited to work there. However, Im not sure I would go back there again. I felt that the food was over priced and that it was more geared towards the younger crowd without kids.
This is not your ordinary bowling alley with greasy food, broken down lanes, old, disgusting shoes, etc. In fact, it’s quite the contrary.Let’s talk about the bowling first – lanes are in perfect condition, the electronic scoreboards work flawlessly, the ball return works perfectly, and the shoes are in immaculate condition. The bowling balls could use a bit more TLC, but that’s the only downside to the bowling aspect that I can think of.Food: Let’s start with the pizza! The pizza is really good. Cooked perfectly so the crust is crispy but not overly so. Fresh, quality ingredients go into their pizzas. They have five or six to choose from and they range between $18 and $25 – so yeah, they’re good, but a bit pricey. But remember, this ain’t Pizza Hut. They’ve got sliders and other appetizers to choose from, and everything I have tried is good here. It’s several notches above your standard bowling alley food.Good for groups! I’ve attended two group outings here – the last one was a Christmas party. There were at least three separate, but large parties happening at the same time. They have long tables in front of the bowling lanes where they stage the food, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend them for a group event, but contact them ahead of time.I’m only docking them half a star because of the price of the food. As others have said, it’s pricey, but it’s really good food, so I’m not going to hate on them too much for that. All in all, I’ve never had a complaint when I go, so I’m keeping this one on my list.
My family & visited on Friday and we had the great time!! I highly recommend to any family. The food was good, the atmosphere was awesome, and the place was clean! My kids loved it. We will be back!!
Visited Tuesday night for our 7 year anniversary and had the best experience EVER!!! Our Server Mykensley was on point and never let my drink get passed half way before bringing me another round! If you are looking for a great date night activity I HIGHLY RECOMEND YOU COME OUT AND VISIT!!!!!!!
Easy check in staff was excellent and it was lots of fun. We definitely will be back
Overall experience was good but server was a tad bit sketchy and didnt want to help once we said we werent tipping in cash.
Jordyn was awesome and very attentive. We felt very safe with all the covid precautions and they provided great space between other bowlers.Jordyn was so fun and hospital able. Highly recommend coming here!
The coolest bowling place ever! Drinks are amazing
Service was top notch, music was at appropriate levels, food and drinks were delicious. Will definitely be back. Manager Sal was amazing.
Do not bowl here if you are actually trying to bowl. There is only 15 lanes. The wood on the lanes is not real wood, nor is there any evidence that the lanes actually get oiled once in a blue moon. There are wires connecting to the top of the pins instead of a pin machine (my guess the reason for this is to make the games go by faster rather than making them more enjoyable)... seriously, it is not easy to get a strike at this place because pin action simply does not exist at this bowling center. With that said the food and service is quite good, but for the prices and bowling experience, you should stick to going to a real bowling center.
Definitely a good time for the whole family. Prices are very practical and based per half hour. The shoes were very clean and like brand new. Facility was very clean and service was great. They have a day drinker special before 5pm which is either bloody Marys or mimosas. Appetizers and pizza are really good. Bowling is what you would expect. Automated scoring and automatic bumper guards for the kids that pop up when its their turn. The surrounding area is very nice too.
Always so much fun and a great deal, the kids and I love it! Goods great too!
Lots of fun. Liked the small, personal lanes. Very cool
Went there for a company Christmas party. Fantastic food and an awesome beer, wine, and cocktail selection, plus attentive, friendly service. I don’t normally think of “bowling” and “classy place” in the same sentence, but this venue delivers both. Parking is a bit of a walk, so dress warm on cold nights.
Jordan was a very good server on time and very pleasant!
I cannot recommend this place to anyone who wants to actually bowl. Maybe their bar is good, but their lanes and service to them are horrible. You are put on a timer every time its your turn to bowl. If you dont toss it, you get marked a miss. So you better have a big group if you want to use the bathroom! Maybe it can be adjusted... tried to ask the staff about it, but the lady couldnt understand what I was describing to her. She kept going back to how much time we had left reserved on the lane. And she had a very confused look. I gave up. Also our original waitress was changed for some reason. She also couldnt explain the menu platter options. Then when they finally brought the food (another person), it was late and he wasnt sure we were the right lane. And no napkins or forks. Then when it came time to pay, it took forever to get our bill back from the new waitress. There was no itemization either. Only the total. This was 4:00 pm. The place had about a third of the alleys empty and the bar had one customer. So at the end when our time showed 7 minutes left, it started to glitch. And then the balls stopped coming back. We also had to put up the screen suggestions on the score board because any adjustments have to be requested from their unknowledgeable staff. Hand fans dont work either
Had a great time...
I had an employee outing here and the service and staff members were excellent. The food was fantastic and came out in a timely manner when we all arrived. Megan the event coordinator took great care of us during the whole event.
We pass great family time...great service...great place
Very cool setting. Service was excellent & all the staff were pleasant. Pizza was great. Enjoyed it all. Only downfall was it was very pricey. So wont go often. There were only 3 of us, 2 kids, one adult, It turned out to be $100 an hour & thats with only one $3.00 special cocktail.
Good music nice atmosphere they are a little pricey
Weekday lunch experience - the place was empty. The staff was great! Food was delicious! Definitely recommend
If youre looking to host an event, B&B is the place to do it! We recently hosted our Annual Holiday Party at the Rim location in San Antonio, and we cant thank Megan and the staff enough! The food was phenomenal and overall everyone had a great time bowling!
Fun Sunday activity with the family for Mothers Day. We were able to get a lane quickly with no wait, and the place was clean and modern looking. I have to mark this place down a little though because the balls were in rough condition, and the price for one hour, one lane, four people was double what I expected. Location, location, location.
The ambience is great! I do like the place for sure. The food is very good as well. We had the mushroom and pretzel appetizers. Very good. We enjoyed them. However, the bowling experience is another matter. I do like the bowling ball selections. There are plenty to choose from with different finger sizes. I did not like the strings on the pins. When the pins reset, Occasionally they do not come down in the correct positions. They are off a bit. Also, the bowling shoes I was using were very sticky. I need to be able to slide to throw the ball correctly. I almost fell forward for my first throw. Took my steps and when I released I realized that I wasnt moving forward anymore and the ball almost took me with it!I didnt realize they didnt slide well. I asked my group if there shoes were sticky and they said they were also. I dont know if this how the shoes are in general, or if we walked through something sticky. In any case, I adjusted my grip and style to compensate.Still had a good time though. 3 stars.
The atmosphere was great service was a A+ and the beer was cold and on point with the drafts it has. This will be a must visit if you are in the area, and if you arent nice little trip up north. Highly recommend
Had a really fun experience our first time at Bowl and Barrel! Service was good and the lanes were beautiful and well kept. We ordered the large pretzel with queso and mustard. While it was good it wasnt our favorite pretzel and was a little dry. Prices for bowling are alot higher than other bowling alleys but Im sure youre also paying for the newness and cool factor. Bowling is 20 dollars for 30 mins plus 6 dollars for shoes. I guess its a better value the more people you have to share the cost. Honestly we would go back but bring a group of friends with us!
Had a wonderful time at a company event. I appreciate that they had the place all for us. Great staff and fun, fun place.
SO. MUCH. FUN. !!! Classy atmosphere! Great food and bowling! I’ve come here for team building lunches, date nights, and have had two birthday parties here - always a positive experience!
Fun place to have a beer and try to hit the pins. A little pricey.
Great atmosphere! Good assortment of bowling balls and comfortable shoes. Great job of upscaling bowling. The food was good but slow out of the kitchen. I was there for a company event, we ordered pizzas, received food over 30 minutes later and only received 1 of 3 pizzas. The last one was brought over in a box to go as our event was ending. Cocktails were nice, again, slow to arrive.
Had our company Christmas party, staff was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back. Make sure to try the meatballs and pizza!
I really enjoyed myself here. Drinks were delicious, staff was friendly and accommodating, vibe/music was on point. I have to mention that I was at an event hosted by & paid for by a corporation, so I have no idea how much it normally costs here. But we had a large party of 40ish people and the wait staff kept up with us very well.
Very nice place, dont care for the music too much, but it really just depends on your taste of music as they play a certain type of music to attract a particular type of crowd. Otherwise food is good & the ambiance is nice.
Informed there was a special promotion and a picture would be $10 off. When the bill came around this was untrue and we were told since the bill had already been charged there was nothing the staff could do... dishonest dollar over customer business practices. I do not recommend as you have to watch for hidden charges.
Bowl & Barrell is a great place to go for some drinks and good fun. The atmosphere is great. The food is good and we had a great time. I would definitely recommend Bowl & Barrel for a good evening of fun.
Fun place but expensive for bowling. The drinks and food are good since it shares a kitchen with General Public. I recommend to go at least once.
Such a horrible experience. Was not greeted upon arrival. The manager pretended to be busy in order to avoid giving me service. Waited for 30 minutes, then told the lane was broken but saw someone else on that lane. While waiting another 20 minutes was told we would be put on the next openedlane but someone else was put on that lane. After asking if service is typically like this. I was told no we just arent use to your kind.
Friendly staff, yummy food, enjoyable bowling and the event person is very helpful setting up larger parties.
I really hate! hate! hate! to call a local business and it be answered by a robot! press 1 if, press 2 if, press 3 if...just put a real person to answer the phone! You don’t have my business!
This place has some expensive food. I got a pizza here while bowling with friends and fam for a bday party. It was an okay time. The staff seemed nice but the lanes seemed a little uneven for the high prices.
This is an updated review. I previously had an experience here for our first visit with a few issues and wrote a review addressing it. I was contacted personally by the GM to discuss it further and give them another try, so we did so tonight and boy are we glad we did. Not only did they make up for the previous experience but well beyond. We had exceptional service by Seth (who we honestly owe a bigger tip too next time), had a great time bowling, great food and regularly checked in with on how we were doing by staff and management. Additionally for a place that’s probably best suited for adults it still worked pretty well for our kids. I wouldn’t normally delete a review but felt it necessary with this one. Thank you Bowl & Barrel for a great night out with our family! We will definetly be back soon!
Went here for a company Christmas party where we rented out about half the space. Wait staff was awesome they kept food and drinks flowing the whole time. It was great for people with families, kids were entertained with bowling while parents mingled. I can see this as a great place to Bowl with a group of friends. Pretzels were amazing, pizza was ok but very thin with little sauce. Overall though good food, good cocktails, and fun atmosphere.
This place is fun for what it is. As expected the prices are a bit high. I’ve been twice and both times I had good service. The bowling is good. There were a lot of families there and it seemed like everyone was having a good time.
Great fun and delicious snacks. A great atmosphere and nice staff. Great place for parties or a small gathering.
Decent food, but if you want to actually bowl, go somewhere else. There is NO oil on the lanes, and the pins are on cables, which affects the way they bounce into other pins.
The lanes are the worse they dont even have any oil and they dont ever curve when you want the ball to so i dont recommend yall to come to this place please dont come here the onlt thing that is worth here is the food and thats much more better then usimg the bowling lanes so dont come here to bowl just try the food thats the best thing here
You pay for an hour, by person. So if you have a group of 8, theyll still give you the same amount of time as a group of 4. They cur your game off at exactly an hour and dont allow you to even finish your first game. 15 bucks for this?
Not a good experience here. No one served us the full hour we were there. We are still here and our lane, number 10, has messed up twice. Worse part is while we are waiting, it is counting against our hour. There are 5 other parties here and they all have been served and a server went up to them. I hate to say it, but me and my brother are the only Mexicans here and everyone else is white and everyone else has been served.
First time here for a team building activity for work. Id say it was a success. The place was clean, music wasnt too loud, the servers were constantly making rounds and checking up on how things are going. I dont know about the regular menu because I believe we had a party special, but that menu turned out great.
The layout it great! It definitely has a retro, at home vibe to it. I def recommend. Half an hour goes by pretty fast, I must suggest to go for the full hour at least. It was a lot of fun! I enjoy this place very much! Affordable if you split the bill
I really enjoyed the environment as it made for a great time for a group of 20. The experience was fun, the food selection was decent, but please know that it is a little pricey. Please be patient if you have a big group as the staff may take a while to load your group into the system for bowling.
Havent been to this place until now, because I heard people complain about the pricing. I thought the prices were fine. We had a great time! The food was delicious and the bowling experience was awesome! The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is the service was a little slow... but it was a busy crowd on a random wednesday, maybe they were understaffed.
The lanes slope to the left and the walk up is sticky! Not conducive to bowling! Great environment. But, the lanes, no bueno!
Our company held an event here last week and we had an amazing time! The booking process with Ariel was easy and clear - she was great in helping me pick the best package for our team of 26 guests. Communicated a couple of times via email and all set.The day of the event went smoothly - great drinks, tons of food considering how good a deal we had for the catering package (to the point where half the guests took boxes of leftovers home), and the service was top notch.Especially would like to highlight our servers Jack & Rebecca. So helpful, patient, and quick. Will definitely consider Bowl & Barrel for future company events. Thanks team!
Bowling and Beer, whats not to like?
Not a good first experience. Had a reservation which they did not honor when we arrived. Then they cut our play time off in the middle of our last game even though we had paid for different play time. Menu looked like it was good but they were out of pizza...their main food offering. Lanes are narrow and its a tight place to sit if you have a group. Had fun with my family but would go to a regular bowling alley instead.
The place is very nice and upscale. The problem is the place is very expensive. Makes sense since the rent in this area is probably off the charts. I dont mind the expense if the service was good but it was VERY slow. Had to hunt down the waiter every time for a drink. On the bright side, having to hunt for the waiter saved me money on drinks!. Lastly I wasnt crazy about the bowling lanes or pins on strings. The ball movement and pins on strings was unnatural to traditional bowling. Dont get me wrong I suck at bowling but these lanes made me suck worse.
Awesome service and great atmosphere
I chose this bowling alley for my girlfriends birthday. Pros: very clean, modern, and well laid out for its size. The service was good and so was the food. They brought shoes to us and picked them up from us. Furniture was movable for our liking. Cons: A little pricey, no private room for reservations (I just booked four lanes) and not enough individual chairs for bystanders/guest or when waiting to bowl. I would return for small group bowling, my party had 25 people.
Fun place! Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. Will definitely be going back!
Tldr: costly and crowded, but very fun.I love bowling, but am, unfortunately, pretty bad at it. This place was a very fun place to fail. We got there at about 4 pm on a Friday, and had the place to ourselves for a full hour. It is overpriced. For everything. Drinks, food, lane cost. That being said, it was all good. Not amazing- but good. Introverts should direct themselves to University Bowl. The staff was nice, though a bit inattentive. Worth a visit, though perhaps just the one.
Walked in on a Saturday and they had lanes available that were not in use. The staff stated there reserved. Ray Lopez the manager you turn customers down. Excellent job man.
We went for lunch during week day and took our kids. Kids deal is great and includes pizza for them. They seemed to like it. B&B also has 3 buck mimosas and bloody marry for the adults. Dont expect top notch... but dont pound these with kids either!Bowling was a blast. Atmosphere was great. We also ordered fries, a margarita pizza as well. Fries were a hit. Pizza was so so. Not very flavorful and tomatoes need more time cooking. But nothing to complain about.5 stars if pizza was better. Oh... its kinda pricey for lunch but you expect that at the rim.
Very nice place to hangout for a little bit. A bit expensive for those that have a limited budget.
That Mule de Fresa cocktail is the as long as you like tequila (and I do!) Try it!!!
Awesome time with family and friends Sal is always making sure the guest are happy.
Wonderful!! Attentive wait staff, good food and excellent bar! The bowling was just an added bonus!
Fair. After we had looked at the menu and decided what appetizers we wanted, the server told us three or four things were not available, as they were updating the menu. He was nice enough to tell us about two items that were not on the menu, so we ordered one of those items along with a charcuterie board - only to have him return a short time later and tell us that the off menu item wasnt available. Look...Im no food critic, but dont be lazy. If items are no longer on your menu, have someone sit down for an hour and cover them up, scratch them out, etc. And educate your staff.Anyhow, the Charcuterie board seemed like lunch meat from HEB, and some sliced French bread. The pretzel appetizer was fantastic, and the mushroom pizza with an olive oil base was delicious. The bowling was fun...but again, there were issues. At one point, our balls didnt return. We notified a staff member, who threw another ball, told us he would fix the score, then went to fix the return. He fixed the return, but we had to notify him again in order to fix the score. He gave us back 5 minutes of play. Unfortunately, by the time all was said and done, we had lost about 10 minutes of play.Glad we tried it, but I sincerely doubt well be back.
Really fun atmosphere! Food was great! My only criticism was the lane itself didnt seem to be oiled very well
This is a fun place. You can bowl with friends or family. Prices not too bad either.
They arent worth it, I would rather go to university bowlUpdate: the customer service may have replied but when I emailed them, 2 weeks ago, they never replied. I now see a bunch of reviews saying others had poor experiences and the customer service reaching out, I wonder how many havent been answered. Poor equipment, high prices, and lack of care from management really drive this places rating down.
We rented a couple lanes for a going away party for a coworker. We all had a great time and received excellent service from Thomas. The pizza was PHENOM! I honestly did not expect to be so impressed with the food and drinks but after we all left we said we would go back just for the pizza and drinks!
Nice atmosphere
Cool place, good atmosphere. Very clean. Prompt, courteous service. We hosted 12 people for kid bday party. But the pins-on-strings bug me, and a couple of the lanes had issues. One had a broken bumper and another kept requiring reset, which requires intervention from the front desk everytime. Would still recommend.
Decided to try this place for the first time and wasnt disappointed...word of advice the pretzels are gigantic not like the cute pretzels you can get at Subway or the fair but theyre delicious though
Lanes are dry. This is not a place to bowl. Bar and throw a few ball maybe, but actual lanes are terrible!!!
We had our company Christmas party here. The staff was attentive and helpful, and our team had a good time. The bowling was less fun because the lanes were extremely dry.
Cool atmosphere, but the food was just okay and the bowling is expensive.
Food was great and so was service. We got complimentary peanut butter fluff bread that was great
Good food and drinks, and great state of the art bowling!
EXPENSIVE. $40 for 4 people to bowl for 30 minutes, which wasn’t quite enough time for a game. Happy hour specials on drinks are good but the bowling is still very pricey.
I love the food here and the fact that the whole family can enjoy bowling at the same time is what makes this place awesome. However, plan on dropping some money here. It can get really expensive.
Food is pretty good, the bowling is not real bowling and the lanes break a lot. But if you are going to drink and socialize rather than actually care about bowling its fun. They are pricey and dont go in the evening because its super hot when the sun is going down and shining in the whole bowling area. They need to invest in some better shades. We were all sweating horribly.
The bartender was on his phone and took forever to realize he had customers .. service was slow
Food is poor and expensive times cost expensive over priced environment too packed doesnt deserve the one star Im forced to give
