I love this theater. Its right in the middle of downtown and near some awesome restaurants.
Love Megaplex theaters. Was pretty empty due to Covid-19 but we enjoyed our movie!
Really appreciate them being open right now. Its good to have good movies to escape the hoo hah of daily life right now.
I absolutely love this theatre. The seats are very roomy recliners where you can lay your chair back with 2 buttons one for the head and one for your legs and adjust how you like.when sitting up theres another button to move them both at the same time...very large arm rests with a drink holder and then a good size table with a drink holder that swivels inward to set across in front of you or outward to not be in your way when getting up or sitting down. And the movie screen is pretty big. The sound quality is great. If you like sitting more towards the back you have to walk up stairs. Theres only a few rows that are at the level of entry and down a few steps or the row at entry...most are up stairs from the entrance. At least the theatre that I was there to watch the movie. And the movie I watched was a pretty good movie. The Gentlemen with Mathew McConaughey.
4/5 ONLY because it is not the largest or most complex theater I have been to. Movie was good, food selection is good, culture and overall asthetic ok.
Being from a small town in Wyoming I was awed by the size of the place and the thousand or so movies showing. My only complaint was with food and drink availability. I could not find a cup of coffee. Only drinks there were flavored sugar water. They did have pizza hut pizza though, served pretty fresh and hot.
Megaplex is always a good choice when it comes to movie theaters and this one is no exception. The staff are kind and courteous and the movies look and sound very nice!My only complaint is that the seat isles seem more narrow then other theaters in the area. This is only a problem with people going to and from their seats.Otherwise a lovely experience.
This theater does not have the fancy reclining seats but the theaters are large and generally you can get a seat even on opening night. They have the awesome kid packs. Theaters are clean. Parking is convenient in the garage below. Make sure to get your parking validation at the theater.
We saw Crawl here. At least the theater was good. ;-) Really liked the area. We had tasty pizza before the movie. The employees were friendly. Everything I would want in a movie theater was here.
Went to the early movie today and ended up having to leave in the middle of the movie due to a family emergency. I approached the staff asking if we could get passes to come back another time, explaining that we had an emergency. They were very helpful and friendly. The manager gave us passes, plus a free large popcorn coupon and wished us the best with what was happening. It has been an emotional day, but wanted to take a minute to say thank you for being so helpful and kind. It really was needed, especially in that moment. We will definitely be back.
Ive been here before and I didnt remember much but when we went here again it was awesome! The theatre was nice (Although some tiles some of the roofs were missing, but not on the main high entrance roof. I cant blame them, they were probably fixing something.) And the seats had vibrating motions and Ive never seen that ever! Good place!
Clean and nice however the app is not that user friendly watched New mutants wasnt that good
I would definitely recommend this place for a day at the movies.
Very comfortable. Great sound. Menu not limited to just candy and popcorn. I shared a pizza with my daughter.
UPDATE: The Megaplex door signs now say (in fine print legalise at the bottom) that concealed carry permit holders are permitted to carry on the premises.Wanted to see two movies at the Gateway Megaplex today, but was stopped at the door by their No Firearms Allowed sign. I dont patronize places that advertise themselves as soft, gun-free-zone, targets. Signs never stop the bad guys.
Its like someone took a movie theater and decided to maximize the number of advertisements until everyone went insane. On our visit, I clocked in 23 minutes of previews of which half were local adverts. It became so bad my wife and I were rolling our eyes each time it seemed like the movie would start... But nope, better squeeze in another advertisement. You arent even shielded from them in the bathroom, they are plastered on the doors. Just bad, bad, bad. They you be paying YOU to see movies there with this level of constant promotion.
Meh. I just have such little motivation to go to the theater anymore. I visited twice recently to see newly released movies. Both were fine experiences however the employees arent very helpful with parking validation (which costs a dollar). Since its pretty slow/empty here often it seems they like to chat with those they find interesting while keeping others waiting in line unnecessarily. Also, they shouldnt charge for validation when parking is free. I paid for it then when to exit and no fee was required. Kinda scammy if you ask me.
For a dollar at the consessions you can get a validation for your parking. The staff was friendly and helpful. We went for a limited release movie. Nice large comfortable stadium style seats. The seat backs lean back a bit too. Restrooms are large and clean. Ill definitely be back.
The seat aint lazyboy their stiff but clean went to see a movie wasnt much of a crowd so seating was available but if your looking for a theater to take your girl this isnt the one the arm bar came up but I like when I can cuddle up with my love and watch a movie together
Great place to watch a movie. My wife has difficulty hearing and loves the fact that they have closed captioning options.
Best theater in Utah. Is a great experience to came here and watch a movie, is a great environment. Youll have a great experience here. The rooms are great and great seats. Their sound system is great too. We love to take our kids too. Food is great, expensive but great. Highly recommended it, you wont regret it.
The website listed my auditorium as luxury, it was not. There were 10 luxury seats but that hardly makes the whole room of multiple hundred seats luxury. Was not given validation for my parking because I ordered online.Concessions closed around 1030 pm even though there were showings until around 1am for a blockbuster filmAND to top it all off, some engineering genius decided that the actual luxury seating needed always on bright blue leds smack dab in the middle of the theater facing all the fools who didnt pay for recliners. Image attached. That isnt a cell phone in that picture. People using their phones gave off less light.
I’ve been to this theater a few times. It is an “alright” place, meaning it is a movie theater, and ever since City Creek opened up, which is like a glitzier, fancier, cleaner, less homeless people version of the gateway, the gateway mall has gone downhill quite a few hills ago. They MUST be losing money. I bet, year over year, their ROI has been tanking, and their marginal retail investment ratio has been like below 15%.Like, I walked through and there were all these weird stores that I’ve never heard of. I don’t even remember their names, but I remember that I don’t know them. They do have a Dave and Buster’s, which is nice, but it’s not really a place I could see two people falling in love. This is more like a place that I would go to shop if I lost my job and someone slipped something in my drink at the restaurant because they wanted to take me out (kill) but I saw the look in their eye as they walked past, so I was able to run out of the restaurant, but I was totally disoriented and didn’t recognize my surroundings (Gateway) because it just is not a very nice place to be anymore. But the movie theater is still there, so you gotta give them credit. The buying tickets experience is cool. You pretty much give the people cash or your credit card and they give you a movie ticket (IT’S THAT SIMPLE PEEPS), and then you go sit in a dark room with a bunch of strangers (if you’re watching a good movie. If it’s a craappy movie then you might be in a huge dark room all alone) and watch the movie. I don’t usually watch very many movies, but when I do, I consider where I want to go carefully, and I have been to this place at least once in the past few years.
25 minutes of ads and previews. 25 minutes of ads and previews. 25 minutes of ads and previews. 25 minutes of ads and previews. 25 minutes of ads and previews. Why the hell make us sit that long for ads. After that, the movie started but not in 3d. After tracking down an employee and 15 minutes later, they finally switched it over to 3d. The 3D looked worse. Something was off and it looked way out of focus until we got them to change it back to non 3D. That may not happen at every movie here but the 25 minutes of adds and previews will.
Always a great place to see a flick! Use the parking garage and get your parking verified, always a plus!
Saw two movies there back to back. When I left they told me I needed to pay 1$ to validate my parking and it would save me $4-5. Total of parking was $7 and was discounted to $5. So I paid $6 to park, but 4 hours was only $1. Total rip off and after three managers was told sorry thats how the property mgmt handles it. Never will give this place another $
Just as good as any Megaplex. Good poporn and great selection of drinks. Seat are comfortable
Big. Good sounds and clean comfortable theater. Way too many ads - ads not just trailers - so much so that the delay was a real bummer to our experience
Didnt seem like extra butter but my expectations for that may be unreasonable. Everything else was great!
Very accommodating. Great snack bar and food. But it is expensive. Maybe the seating could be a bit more comfortable for the price. Suggesting. Thanks.
I never have an issue here unlike other theaters. Usually pretty good seating available.
Always seems clean. Staff are friendly and kind. Best time to go is Tuesday late mornings.
A new low has been reached....showing ads in between trailers. Showing ads after the specified showtime has passed is unconscionable. How could anyone think its ok to show ads to an audience during an experience that theyve already paid for? Its a terrible solution to a dwindling revenue problem...make the experience more satisfying, not less satisfying and maybe your returns will improve. Until then I predict Regal and Cinemark (both are trying this out) will start to lose customers at a faster rate.
Movies were great(obviously) and seats were very comfortable. The only downside is that the snacks are very expensive for stuff so small. But then again, it is a movie theatre, so I guess I should expect that.
Handicap accessible. Not overly crowded. Good view from all locations, and clean.
Not worth spending $10 on a ticket for a seat that does not recline. It needs to be less money. Also it is always messy and the staff never really knows what they are doing. Cant scan online purchased tickets and dont give validations so then to make it even more money you have to pay to park.
Its pretty posh. Overall a nice place. The employees are pretty friendly overall.
Nice but usually so busy. Love the luxury seats!
Love the $5 Tuesdays. Its small but I like it. Great service ! (:
Good location in downtown. Has all the screen options anyone could ask for, good service and staffing. the parking underground makes this extremely easy to access along with local restaurants and public areas.
There is very limited parking in the underground parking garage for the theaters. The theaters will allow you to purchase a Paking Pass, that will save you some money, depending on how long you are parked. The theater screens are not very large, and seating has not been updated since the theaters opened. The staff is friendly, but concessions at the theater are more costly than some other theaters, and we purchased popcorn, a large drink, a pretzel and Redvines licorice. The popcorn wasnt great, but was passable. The pretzel was extremely doughy. The drink came from a self serve machine, but was really good, and there was no residue of previous customers drinks included, as sometimes happens from multidrink machines. The restroom, unfortunately was not recently cleaned, and we attended a Matinee at the theater.
Went to see Rise of Skywalker. The show was great. The seating is cramped compared to the Mega Plex that we usually go to.
Theater and meeting place for businesses. Good selection of snack with comfy chairs.
Ive been here multiple times and service has always been great.
Good customer service, but they need to update the chairs.
Nice movie theater. The seats are comfortable but not like the reclining seats in some theaters. Lots of options for movies. Parking avalanche in a parking garage for a small parking fee. The signs outside the theater doors let you know when the movie will be over, which is helpful. They have some massage chairs around in the hallway, and the hallway is very spacious.
Great movie theater, clean and parking was easy. The only challenge was the blind assistive device had to be reset about 15 minutes into the movie.
They need to get modern about doing cash refunds on shows you cant attend
Little to no room, seriously seats are too close to each other, dirty, customer service wasn’t good.
Employees are always friendly and they take pride in keeping a well kept theater. Always a great time and experience.
Maybe this is how its going everywhere in SLC, but waaaaaay too many commercials thrown in with the previews (as if even 1 was ok). I usually like previews, but today they took 30 min--no joke--because of all the regular commercials mixed in.
All the Megaplex theaters need to carry the sweet kettle corn. Its so frustrating that there is a lack of consistency.
A really good example of everything wrong with modern society. Everything is automated in attempt to avoid having to pay a couple of employees, therefore everything is filthy and obnoxious to deal with. Then they have the audacity to charge for parking after you pay for a $10 movie ticket.
Super clean, good prices, and was never really busy for the movies we seen. Went two days in a row!
Theyll validate for a dollar. Thats great if youve gone to Dave and Busters where they dont validate
This evening my husband and I wanted to go to see captain marvel. We got into the movie and there was someone sitting in the theater with two large suitcases next to us. After about a few minutes, my husband and I went to go address the issue with the woman checking tickets. She did not seem to know what I was talking about. She then told me to ask the managers, and they were not aware of it, either. We are extremely disappointed with the security and rule enforcement here. We ended up leaving the movie because of it.
Great movie theater. Nice place to just relax and enjoy a movie.
Great movies nice people good prices
Great playground for kids to play on out side to play in or on while you wait. Theater is very nice, perfect for kids.
This theater is fine. Just wish they had reclining seats
They treat the whole fam amd company good.. Good vibes all day
Great theater with a good amount of showings. Great service
Always convenient seeing the newest box office hits Megaplex-style and not having travel very far to do so. If you live in downtown Salt Lake City then choosing this theatre is never a bad idea. I usually go on Sunday evenings because there are never any lines or overcrowded theaters to deal with. I wish they had the reclinable seats though. The chairs provided at this movie theatre are comfortable but can be hard to lean back.
Overpriced (like all theaters) not sure I love a bathroom that needs needle waste bin... sketchy po art of town
Great place to watch a great movie and lots of restaurants around for before or after.
Great theatre staff friendly quick as they can be to get you to your movie experience on time clean place helpful staff
I pay to go see a movie, now I have to sit through ads for bug exterminators and kitchen sinks mixed in with the previews? What exactly is the point of paying to go see a movie if they mix ads in? What’s next; ad breaks in the movie? Save your money and stay home. I won’t be coming back to this theater
Clean. Comfy. Ample seats. Matinee prices. Perfection!
Its a fine theater. I dont like that you pay for a movie, popcorn and a soda and then they still make you pay for parking validation. It has average comfort seats and screen size but top tier prices for the salt lake valley.
Parking was hard to find when we went, but they ended up letting us park for free, so that was nice. They will give you a parking voucher for $1 if you buy concessions (cheaper than the usual $3-5 the parking garage charges). We loved Spiderman Universe! The ticket lady was very nice.
I live near the Gateway Mall and have Moviepass, so I am here quite frequently. Seats are plentiful and comfortable with good views from most seats. The big downside here is the food. The hot food preparation is highly disorganized and set up in such a way that even when employees are moving quickly, which isnt often, it still takes a long time to prep basic foods. If you order a pizza, expect a minimum 10-15 minute wait. Same for a churroThe membership rewards are nice, with discounted concessions and the occasional free popcorn, it is worth signing up if youll be here often.Ultimately, it isnt a bad place to catch a movie, but there are much better options out there.
Spilled drinks from previous show where I sat. No leg room. Paid parking, but will validate for one dollar. At concession stand, they dont tell you anything about what else is available. Example, I inquired about the plastic popcorn tub. I was told that they didnt have any. This would have been a great opportunity for them to up sell me on a drink, Were currently sold out of the plastic, popcorn tub; however, since you like the refillable plastic tub, perhaps youd be interested in our plastic beverage cup. No! I was not told about. After I paid, I saw it and asked about it. The response, Oh yeah! We have those for one dollar more! Duh.
Bathrooms were filthy and theater was really warm. Made watching the movie not very pleasant.
Best place to go to see movies and the Best helping people when you are in a wheelchair
Nice theater. Cleaner than most but it was a late, quiet Sunday night. Only 6 people in the whole theater for the 8pm Incredibles 2. That was awesome! No sticking to the floor when you walk through the seats, no trash anywhere, very nice. Pay for parking but they will validate most of it from what I hear. I found parking for free not far away so dont know for sure.
Just a regular old movie theater. Happy they were one of the few showing Peanut butter falcon though, which we really enjoyed.
The gateway has improved. Go check it out.
Comfortable and centrally located. Attendants were courteous and helpful. Coming back again!
Need better show times and better movie selections but its a ok place to come
The employees are so helpful and efficient. Everything is clean.
Nice big theaters. Alot of shows
Its ok. Its a bit outdated though. Reminds me of a dollar theater but the movies are not a dollar. The carpet is dirty. The bathroom is dirty. The parking validation is an extra dollar.
Fun little theater, with good staff and one of those awesome concession stands where you can get just about anything. Theyre good about keeping up with the new movies, too. My only complaint is the chairs, but even then, theyre actually pretty okay chairs. They just arent the fancy recliners, which is fine.
My wife and three of her friends stood in a line for an hour and a half, just to be told they overbooked the movie. They wouldnt let her see the movie at a later date. That is horrible customer service. Nobody wants to be treated like that by staff and the managers all ran away and hid from people wanting to make things right. On top of that you have to pay for parking. This theater doesnt even deserve a 1 star. I would give them a 0 if I could.
Comfortable seating. Great environment.
Ive been coming to this place for a long time its always nice. Good service
Its in a good location because there are restraunts and shops nearby, so its an all in one for a date or a get together. The employees are friendly and helpful.. BUT there is no luxury seating (can this be?), Ive been spoiled by buttons and recliners, thick arm rests that hold a giant coke in it, I have learned that what I really want is, to be relaxing back with my feet up watching a movie. Since the luxury seats have come into existence, I dont even sit up at home to watch movies. Ive even learned to drink a soda while laying down. Now the regular seats leave me feeling cramped, and without any way to shine using my new skills. But if you want to be cozy with the ones next to you, its great. The popcorn, however, was amazing!
Great movie theater. They always have the current titles and the food court is good. Tickets are reasonable. Four stars because the seats are not very comfortable compared to those at a Cinemark theater.
Pretty cool, you can spend times with friends and families
Nice and right downtown. Love th he fex luxury seats they have now.
The theater was fine but it would be nice to update the seats. They are pretty tight.
This is a good theater. There are $5 movie Tuesdays. There is parking in the garage, but its not free. Ive been here at times and it was super busy and Ive been here times like today that were not at all busy. There is stadium seating and picture and video quality is good but there are newer theaters in the valley with more comfortable seats.
Fun for families! Teeter totter a, swing and spacious quiet theatres. Love this place!
