It nice semi-gated playground with the pavilion right beside making it super easy to eat lunch and then to go play. It has a small playground for the wee ones, a mommy and me swing and a nice large playground for the older kids. Of course the slide and swings are dark colors so during the summer and sunny days they may be super hot.

Enjoyed the park and hills with beautiful trees and sitting on a bench watching the sunset with my love sunset.

Very nice clean park happy kids play at do have shelters grills for cooking The only drawback is no pets allowed so thats the only problem I have

Idyllic. A piece of quiet comfort in the city.

This park is very spread out and has many shelters for use. The playground is good for kids of all ages. Theres a small ampitheater and workout course.

Always clean and so much space. Playground equipment for all ages? Yep. Pave path for riding /walking? Yep. Picnic tables? Open grassy spaces? Basketball court? Yep yep yep.

We enjoyed this park. Playground equipment, Ideal place to picnic, we enjoyed the view. Everyone was so nice that was the extra level we needed as we drove through Salem.

Great place for the kids to play, autism friendly swings. Walking trails and plenty of room to run and play. The duck pond is also close by. There are covered tables with grills for family events. Great place for parties or family fun.

Biggest cleanest family friendly parks!

Beautiful park for Relay for Life. Great for kids, nice layout with bathrooms and stage locations. The track was relatively flat.The only drawback is that parking is limited, an afterthought, really. Scoring a space there is lucky and still a hike to get into the park proper from the lot.Other than the parking stress, its lovely.

Fun park with lots of space, so there is the ability to play on the park set up, walk around the path, or sit on the grass. It is a nice park to have a bit of nature while on a lunch break or a quick getaway.Bonus-theres a swing that can for three kids, which was great fun to watch.

Lovely, huge public park, just next to downtown Salem.There are three covered picnic areas, all with sinks and grilling areas. The main playground physically different accessible, even a full size swing. The park also has a long, but gentle, walking trail with exercise posts scattered all along the trail.The only problem I have is the city closes down the bathrooms early in the season.

Played on the pickleball courts. The old tennis court and the trees that infrenged on these courts have been removed and 3 new pickleball courts have replaced them. Very good new courts they are. Run dont walk to play there.

Great public park in the heart of Salem. Has public toilets, bandstand, picnic facilities, and playground eqmt.

Clean park with ample space for a wide variety of activities. Heavy road work as of 12/21/19 so access might be confusing.

Wonderful place to do my morning walk.

Sure did enjoy the Longwood Jazz in the park event Saturday, July 20th, 2018. All the music was excellent!!! The only fault l find is if one is sitting on the hill side of the park, on the upper level, near the cemetery area, you cant hear the music well.. would be great if some speakers were put along the hill side areas!!!

Number one park in Salem, in my full honest opinion. My husband and I brought my son here and we enjoyed walking here and climbing around on the military work out equipment. We jumped over walls, climbed ropes, and did some running. This large park offers areas to cook, eat and even clean off your dishes with a sink that runs just fine. There are water fountains that also have a lot of pressure and cold water which is perfect after walking through the graveyard that is just a stone toss away. The park also has a swing set where you can swing WITH your kid! My son enjoyed this part the most since we both couldnt stop laughing and enjoying ourselves.

Beautiful setting and the playground is well equipped. They also have a cool climbing/ obstacle area we used like ninja warriors.

This is my favorite park in the Roanoke/Salem area. The bathrooms are scary, though, and Im not sure how often the trash cans get emptied/cleaned because they smelled soooooo bad.

I love Longwood but the people who go to this park are too suspicious. I was walking and doing exercise alone. I guess since I was alone some of the parents thought I looked suspicious. I noticed a man with his camera phone out walking following behind me as I walked near the playground area where kids were playing. I turned around and said hi to him and he returned a friendly hello. But then he asked me What are you doing? I told him I was doing some exercise and he replied Oh, really? I said yes and he said oh ok. It was only at that point did he stop following me.Another time I was here and there was an event going on with tons of kids. I was doing exercise and a lady approached me and asked very directly Why are you here alone? I told her I was doing exercise and she turned away from me and walked away while giving me weird looks. Park goers here should be wary. You might be labeled a weirdo if you come here alone. It shouldnt be that way but some people are just suspicious, I guess. I hope by posting this people will see that im ok and not some weirdo. Im a married man with a wonderful daughter and wife.

Great park. Clean, safe. Bathroom facilities. Walking/biking trail. Exercise equipment along walking loop, stage/amphitheater. We love that this park has separate play equipment for ages 2-5 and older children. There are also handicapped accessible swings and a basketball court. Parking is plentiful and there are covered shelters with 2 charcoal grills. A top pick if near Roanoke or Salem. Convenient to both.

I come to Longwood 3 times a week to walk/jog by myself. I prefer walking/jogging by myself because I can do it at my own pace. Love the park just dont like the nosiness/rudeness of some of the other park goers. On my last walk, I sat for about an hour just taking in the nice weather. Some guy walked up to me and asked me You OK? You been sitting here for almost an hour.. need any help? I told him I didnt need any help. He said he thought I looked weird siting there for so long. Why did someone feel the need to say that to me? Mind your own business please. I hope that person reads my review and realizes how rude that was to ask me such a question. Im a regular here. Nothing weird about me sitting in the park by myself if I want to.

I met up with friends to swing a little and enjoy the wonderful weather after so many days of rain here during the last week. We met in the evening to gaze at the beautiful moon and stars

Nice park, with lots of shelters, the play ground might need a new update again or at least fix the parts that need it. The bathrooms are in definite need of a good cleaning or upgrade. But other then that love the park. Lots of room to run and play.

My kids love this place, great for young kids and their parents to spend time together. Very clean park and equipment well maintained and up to date. Has a shelter, bathrooms, and even books you can borrow,from a mini library.

Very nice park. Picnic area nice. restroom not so nice. Playground for toddlers and one for kids close enough together to keep an eye on the bigger one when they werent together. It wasnt really crowded when we were there.

Nice, smaller park. Great for families and children. There is a nice playground, and they will have family movie nights from time to time. Picnic areas with seating for groups. Nice views, and is quiet with a slight hum of nearby traffic.

Nice walking trails, playground, and shelters. The grounds could use a bit of sprucing up, though. The grass often gets high and the pathways tend to be covered in mud after a rainstorm. Overall a good public park!

Great trails and playgrounds. There were several birthday parties happening when I was there and they were all in great locations. The trails have little stops along the way for workout challenges. I had a great time trying them all out. I hate trails that dont circle around. Just walking one way then turning around and walking back is not a fun walk at all. This park has a trail that loops around so you dont have to turn back. There see also plenty of other paths to make your walk longer or shorter.
