After 10 plus years at the Kroc it was with sadden heart that I cancelled my membership. I joined this community center because of its mission statement and how it was designed to help at risk kids in the community. Its seems that it has changed it mission statement. What I mean is some of these kids for whatever reason spend their afternoons and evening at the gym.I see them eating there and playing basketball. I also get to interact with them and of course they share some of the struggles they have at home or in school. But now that the gym is being monopolize by other organization. These kids are not allowed to use to the gym and some of the parents and kids have cancelled their memberships. also if you plan on using the hot tub. You might want to call ahead to make sure its open. I found out the hard way that it was being used as a daycare and all paying members were not allowed to use it. I am really going to miss the gym. Hopefully the culture will change and revert back to a community center versus a for profit center. The equipment is also not kept up. Some of the hoop rims are bent and it can go months before they replace the nets. Just my two cents since they are other members currently there that feel the same way and according to them they have complained, but management says if its not in writing, its not a complaint. My two cents.
I am utterly heartbroken at the fact I attempted to call the only phone number provided to get my son registered for summer camps and voiced my concern via email about the camps possibility for filling up. I was then told someone was tracking these camps and would let me know if they filled up before I could register my son. I left a total of 6 voicemails with no one calling me back. I finally called and called and someone picked up and told me one of the camps were full. The main one my son was so thrilled to attend. I told them it was a mistake and that the person I was emailing with, Ben, assured me if they were full he would get my son into these camps. Evidently, miscommunication as now my son is on the wait list for this specific camp and I did everything I could-email all parties I had emails for, called the ONLY phone number I had, and still my son is not able to participate in his “dream” camp. Heartbreaking when as a mother I stepped into bathrooms at work to call to register and called to figure all of this out with no answer until today. The lady who had called me to let me know of the completed scholarship told me to call Kroc with any questions at the 503-566 number and then I was told none of my voicemails were found. I literally exhausted all of my resources just for my son to be heartbroken as I am.
I had a busy day and stopped by the Kroc Center to get some info. I grabbed a salad to go at the cafe. I got an unexpected treat. I got the salad home and I noticed that the chicken was really good. It had a rosemary marinade and it was moist. Generally you get a grilled drier version of chicken on a salad. BTW the tomatoes and lettuce were Olive Garden fresh. There is something about really fresh salad that makes it yummy. The shredded cheese (which can turn into toothpicks when it dries out on some salads) was still fresh in this salad. The portion was a two meal size. I have it for lunch and dinner. Restaurant quality salad for less than $6. I went back for the salad today and got a fresh sandwich which again had that yummy fresh salad on the side. Simple fresh food... Yum!
This place is huge! Very clean and lots of activities
This facility is clean and well kept up including the pool. The changing room and family cabanas are awesome! I have really enjoyed the exercise classes. But the best part fir me is the childcare! My son loves going and they seem to enjoy him so he seems to be well taken care of. The only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is that it isnt more affordable.
Mirium in aquatics has been absolutely amazing with our kids! I’m so impressed with the progress the kids have been making while under her swim instruction. For several months the kids switched through several instructors at the KROC who did not provide the quality of teaching or the dependability of Mirium. I’m so appreciative of the skills she is helping them learn.
The price for membership is amazing and nothing comes close. If you come in frequently and use the facility daily, or even 6 times a month, it is still worth it. Its like renting the place, you are welcomed to many activities that the building provides. All you have to do as a member is follow the rules, respect the staff and guests, and care for equipment being utilized. You can also inquire about different programs that they offer which may interest you. And that is it...oh and don’t forget to bring the kids they will have a blast!
My family and I moved to Salem looking for a place where we could entertain the kids and ourselves, and we were blessed to find the KROC. It’s a great family orientated place with an amazing staff. My 11 year old loves the rock climbing wall and swimming area that even has a water slide. My 3 year old loves going to all the loving ladies that run the child watch, Especially Clarissa, Terri and Brenda! I am able to enjoy 2 hours of activities knowing my kids are all safe and happy!
A great place for my family. Everyone Ive interacted with is very friendly. My kids love the childcare. The people in there are awesome. I enjoy the fitness center and then letting my kids have fun wether it be the rock climbing, basketball, swimming, game room or art room. Really cant beat what you get for the price.
Its a decent place, plenty of water related options and equipment in the workout area, though only a couple of regular bike machines, which I find to be really weird and annoying when it only takes two people to fill them up. They added another free weight zone upstairs, which I also find weird since hardly anyone is using the one downstairs to begin with? The staff is minimally engaging, lots of teenagers who just assume not interact with anyone not between the ages of 16-18, even though its their job. They have some kind of activities director(?) who I guess arranges basketball, volleyball or just sets up the courts, other sports, I really dont know. Spoke to him once and he was so narcissistic that he was absolutely useless. So if youre fine being on your own, itll be fine, but the staff is anything but dynamic. Not necessarily their fault, a lot of times its a less than connected manager.
Nice place, nice swimming classes my only complain is the water makes my skin really dry ( I have eczema)and my hair is all dried out which effects the whole week unless I deep condition.
Theres so many options to work out but its almost always overcrowded. Staff arent always helpful. Keep in mind PRICES STAYED THE SAME BUT ARE OPEN 20 HOURS LESS A WEEK THAN PRE-COVID. Not open on sundays unless youre there just to beg your false phrophet to go back to their normal hours or give me $10 off a month
Amazing River Run workout for us older ones! Fun and friendly!
A great fitness center with super facilities and options for all ages and groups. Beautiful aesthetics offers a facility with a two-story indoor water slide, huge swimming pools for easy exercise lap swimming and also competitive events, a childrens wading pool, and a Flow River Pool that offers resistance for both children and adults. The indoor basketball court is used for multiple Sports, the weight room area is excellent, and there is a huge selection of treadmills and ellipticals machines. The whole facility is spotless and kept in excellent condition. The prices are extremely reasonable and if you have a HMO many offer a discount or membership for free through the HMO plan. Also included is a theater, Chapel, rooms for private events, a computer room, library, and snack area. An absolutely beautiful facility and great employees that take an interest with everyone that walks in the door. Definitely check it out and take advantage of this beautiful fitness facility in Salem Oregon.
We love Kroc Center because it is a friendly place and the lifeguards alway do their job and make sure everything is in order. Theyre always walking around the swimming pools making sure everything is under control. We come from Beaverton and compare to other recreation centers that were been there before, this one is the best. Conestoga Rec, for instance, parents pick their kids up in the air and toss them in the water risking orhers to get hurt. Also, other places, everybody is playing with beach balls going crzy and hitting others over and over with the balls or with those floating animal shape that are Flat made of foam, people and kids will sink those floating animal shapes under the water hurting others really bad and the lifeguards dont do anything and NOBODY ever does anything about it, but not at Krock Center yhey all respect each other.
My daughter has been taking swim lessons here for a couple of years. We LOVE The Kroc Center! The staff is always extremely kind & helpful! They really make every visit a good experience. We especially love all the swim instructors & the head of the swim team!Thank you all for doing what you do!
Amazing and beautiful very aesthetic will be coming again
Zero stars. Everytime I try to give it another shot it is a horrible experience with horrible rude front desk ladies. Always a wait list due to not enough life guards or a problem with the pool.
The staff was not as friendly as they could be, but what ever I was not there for them. Very fun place, nice warm kids pool welcoming to all sizes, and a seperate deep pool ( freaking cold as heck-got out fast). They have food and drinks there, its very clean and nice. I will be getting a membership for sure.
We had our daughters birthday party here. Best place we have ever had it at. The staff was the best, especially Russell. He made us feel like family, so kind, so helpful! I will go out of my way to come here so often!!
This place is a joke. Brought my 4 year old and 7 year old and I was told an adult had to be in the water with them at all times
The front dest let us pay and walk in then we find out the kid pool is closed. Alway a fun day when your 9 year old leaves crying!
There are pros and cons at this facility depending on what you use it for. If you are a body builder, this is not the gym for you. The workout areas are too small with limited equipment. It is very crowded M-F after 4 pm. The pros are probably the pools and the classes. Im not a fan of the co-ed locker area. The changing rooms are musty and are not being cleaned properly. The staff really stresses (and there are signs everywhere) that you wipe down a machine, (not just the cardio machines) each and every use, but they fail to clean the floors and the base of machine (the parts you are not responsible for) . It is a HUGE waste of paper towels to have every client wipe down a machine after every use. If you are a pool of walking sweat, then yeah, be courteous and wipe the machine down. If you have a family and utilize the pool or climbing wall, then it is probably a great gym for you.
Great place to have fun. Gym, basketball, Swimming, rock climbing snack bar plus a game room. My experience was great each time we brought the grandkids
My family and I absolutely love going! Theres so many different classes to choose from for swimming, to working out, basketball, a game room, rock wall and so much more! Definitely a great place to take the whole family and friends!! Go and check it out you will want to come back!!
Weve been Kroc members for a couple years now and love it. My kids (5,3,1) have so much fun and love when we say were heading there. The childcare is great and know your child by name. The activities they have for kids (Fit Kids, Toddler Tuesday, etc) are fantastic and my kids love joining in! The fitness center is always clean and tidy and machines in good working order. Pool is big, clean and fun. Lifeguards tend to be on the more serious side (but thats theyre job - theyre making sure lives are safe) and Im guessing most of these negative reviews about the pool are from young men who dont understand why you cant be horsing around at a pool with several other people swimming. My one small complaint is that it can be tough to find out information about different activities. They come out with a quarterly magazine with info but most info in there is pretty vague and you have to do your own hunting around to find out more info. I wish info was more readily available instead of always saying, Call blah blah blah for more info! But. Thats a small complaint overall. :)
Please can you get very offensive!! Which prices are cheaper!!
The pool is a lot of fun. You so have to go at the right times though, as it can get very crowded. Also, there is a really weird set up for the changing rooms. Not bad, but most definitely could be more efficient. There are lots of other things to do. I havent tried most of them. My sons favorite is the rock wall.
We went to the family event on the 22nd and we had a blast. There were so many vendors with fun freebies. We received a free day pass and had so much fun swimming and climbing the rock wall. This was so much fun and so generous!
Excellent play pool for young to teens with a slide, lap pool, exercise room, weights, basketball court, volleyball court and a climbing wall.
My granddaughter and I have been members since she was about 4 and she is 11 now. I read a review claiming women, men, and children in the shower area together, totally inappropriate !Really? We are talking about families not strangers. The Kroc center is a totally family friendly appropriate place for families to join in and get healthy activity . As far as it being too busy come on all places that are popular and worth her weight in gold as I believe the clocks in areas are busy you just want to adjust your times to suit your needs . My review, Kroc center is an awesome place for families. If you want a gym that focuses is totally on just your work out with no noise no children or busyness join the courthouse .
Thought I would take the kids so we can check it out. Although the front desk lady was nice, they whole kid side was down, and you have to be 14 to get into the hot tub. The bigger pool is nice but they have so much blocked off the kids can only play in a little section during open swim.
It was just a good place to cool down on a hot day and just people there were so kind and it was easy to get in and get out
Really family oriented, lots of fun programs and the pool is awesome!!! I dont know what any of the bad comments are for, because the customer service is amazing. They have bent over backwards for my family. We are members, we have our son in preschool and enroll my whole family in swim lessons. The rock wall staff is great they help my 4 year old or so much. Preschool is amazing my son gets treated great. And for the guy who said the web site doesnt work check your internet service cause it has always worked for us!!!Great place to work out, relax let the kids play and have a swim.
The staff at the pool and the Coordinator are irresponsible and unresponsive to customer concerns. I was walking in the river and a. Hold was screaming for help. Long story short, his arms stopped flapping and he started taking water. I lifted him up and had to demand that a lifeguard come over and find the toddlers parents. A couple of days later, I entered the mens locker room and there was a six to seven year old girl in there with, my guess is, her father and brother. I asked a staff person for the manager, to whom I described the incident and said that I dont want to see girls in the mens locker room. Her response was they dont want to see you either. I pressed the issue, asking if they could put up a sign that reminds people of the rules and was told that signage was not her job. A girl, who was, I guess a low level supervisor, said thanks for letting us know and indicated the conversation was over. Today, I was in the hot tub and a young person came in with an adult. I didnt say anything, but did ask when I left the hot tub what the age limit was...I was informed 14. This child was not 14, but I let it go and went into the mens locker room where there was an. Infant screaming bloody murder. At least it was a boy! Otherwise, my experiences in this facility have been wonderful.
So many different things to do just for swimming! Its safe, clean and is just honestly no matter what your age the best place to swim indoors. The locker/shower rooms are very nice too and clean.
Great lap pool! Extremely deep. Removing the diving boards was a bad move.
Great first experience here. We dont have enough publicly available pools this was an awesome place with a lot more activities to do than I thought.
Best place ever! Everyone is very kind and helpful. I love to bring my family and friends here. Its very clean and we have fun. Thank you for keeping this place running so well.
Fun. Pool with water slide and a lazy river. Other room has a competition lap pool. Nice place overall.
I have asthma and after about an hour being there I couldn’t breath because of how bad the air was, I literally had to go outside to catch my breath. And the staff was horrible, they either screamed at kids or let them get away with murder. But other than that I liked it.
Poor swim hours..Mondays I do not believe they are open all morning.Nice lifeguards.Lots of options from childcare to swimming a narrow river, computer room, church...I will be back...The second reason croc/s.a. lost a star was pricing, great monthly pricing but I feel high for one timers. Please let the 7,8$ go back to 5 and you will earn another star from me. Thanks so much. One reason you received a star was clean and available family changing rooms. Thanks so much.My friend loves the rock wall!We do the wall too once in a while.
Nice facilities and good temperature of pool and hot tub! Clean and looks nice! The pool is really all I saw.The reason I didnt give 5 star review:Customer service training is really lacking. I went for the first time a few weeks ago and I had no clue about anything, I expected that someone would of told us the rules of the place or what was offered but instead I got no information or membership sales info. Front desk person seems annoyed that I wanted to spend my money there. Some of the life guards seems very devoted to watching swimmers while others were flirting and being completely unprofessional with a pool full of people. The only positive experience between an employee was when I finally asked the life guard what each pools rules were because theyre not posted anywhere and I didnt want me or my son to get in trouble.
Staff is utterly helpless and clueless. The place is dangerous for this reason. People ignore the lifeguards and the lifeguards dont step up. I watched a full grown man launch himself over the lazy river wall and land on some poor kid (not his own). Lifeguards blew their whistle. Dude ignored them. Nothing more happened.Absolutely zero weight room etiquette. I got up from my bench and some guy put his dirty foot right where my head was to tie his shoe. I looked him in the eye and sprayed the spot down. He smiled. 5 minutes later a guy and his girlfriend took every 15 lb and 12.5 lb dumbbell in the weight room (two sets of each weight) and left to do aerobics leaving an entire rack empty. Its a free for all in there and someone is going to get seriously hurt. Last weekend there were 13 year old boys in the weight room acting like... well 13 year old boys. Again no one did anything.I am 45. I have been a member of a gym on and off since I was 15. I am a veteran and have always tried to stay fit and in the gym (because I like to live), so I spent a lot of time in one gym or another from Miami to Seattle. This is far and away the worst facility I have ever been to. Its dirty. Staff is unhelpful. Other members are downright rude if not in your face about something. Its dangerous. The only thing I can say nice is that they have a lap pool thats usually kept up ok and there are usually lanes for lap swim.
So, far at the Kroc center its been one thing after another. First when I went to purchase days at the Kroc center for my child the person ringing me up for my purchase didnt know what she was doing and double charged me for extended care, and then she was embarrassed by her co-worker that just took over and made her feel bad for making a mistake. Very unprofessional in my opinion. Then I went to drop my child off for one of their half day field trips and the program director for the camps argued with me in front of my child and other parents that the extended care on half day field trip days were different then whole day field trip days. After looking at the Kroc Center Summer Guide there was nothing stated that there was any difference between the full day field trip day and half day field trip day extended care as the person who argued with me stated. After reviewing the guide again on page 12 under extended care policy it states Extended care is available to parents who need earlier drop off/later pick up times. Extended care allows parents to drop off as early as 7:30am and pick up as late as 6pm. Now, at this point my child has already been to 2 half day field trips without anything being said to me about the extended care being different for half day field trips, and on top of that the day before this half day field trip an employee of the Kroc center actually called me to verify that my child was still coming to the field trip (the first time that, that had ever happened) and I told them that she would be there all day starting at 7:30am because she was in the extended day care as well as the field trip and still wasnt made aware that there was any difference. Now theyre trying to say that my child may not be able to attend the last half day field trip because of this extended care issue because Im unable to drop her off later and pick her up earlier (THE WHOLE REASON I PURCHASED EXTENDED CARE) because I cant be late and leave my work early to do that. I will NEVER be signing my child up for ANYTHING with this facility EVER again due to there poor customer service and unprofessional demeanor. Its very unfortunate that my child has to suffer because of the miscommunication and misconduct of the people who work at the Kroc center. No names were provided to protect their identities, but they know who they are.
The pool is really cool and the kids like it. I wasnt happy about having to pay an $8 entrance fee since all i did was sit on a chair at the pool deck and keep an eye on my child as he swam. At least let us in with a discount or something. Its really predatory to have to pay for something you arent actually using. Seems a bit unethical. They dont offer wi fi either and during the summer months when we get high temperatures it would be nice to have extended swimming hours.
If you are thinking about putting your child in the afterschool program at the Kroc Center I would advise you to choose not to! The staff members yell at children and do not address parents concerns for keeping your child safe. When you address the staff members that yell at your child, their solution is to kick them out of the program! What a terrible organization!
Awesome swimming place brrr clean changing rooms n front desk staffs brrr welcoming ppl like me who use day pass
The Kroc center offers many classes and fun activities. The highlight is the awesome pool for children. Definitely a place to check out!
Awesome establishment and well needed in the Salem Oregon area in general, with few things to do when it rains its good to have this
Love it but some of the hours are to long to wait.
We had a lovely evening at the pool. The crowd was small and the personable, but the chlorine level did seem a bit stronger than usual.
Apparently the rules have changed, parents have to pay to watch their children play in the pool.
They are always great & consistent with excellent service. The employees even turn the TV to ESPN while Im waiting for my kids. So much to do here for the whole family. Very enriching. Excellent place to go!!!
Very fun place. Its great because the membership is inexpensive for all the things you get access to.
We used to love coming here, but we cant justify the price any more and we dont live as close as we used to. If you can afford it, its a great place to bond as a family for either the activities or even just to swim.
Wonderful place. Constant streaming of Christian music all day. Activities for the kids to do after school. Exercise equipment for the adults. Plus Salvation Army meets for church there.
Great rock wall staff members but most pool life guard cant tell the difference of playing and rough housing .
The wrong website is registered on Google and the correct one doesnt show up at all. Called with no answer. Took my son to the center to go swimming and it would not be for a few hours later. Im sure Ill enjoy it when I go back but if I have to yank my kid out of there crying because of that, Im not going to come to expect much better from you guys.
Great place to take the kiddos swimming and rock climbing! Had a great experience with the kiddos today
Takes to long to clean the pools and in the website says Mondays close at 10m when a employees say at 9pm so we have to wait an hour before we can get in because the pools are getting cleaned. ITS A FUN PLACE TO BE BUT NEEDS AN IMPROVEMENT.
Ive been going here ever since i was a kid and ive had so much fun at the pool and rock wall
Love the swimming pool and rock wall for my kids. Love the group ex classes. Inviting environment.
Parents please do not let your children get swimming leasons in Kroc Center.this last time I went i sign up 4 of my kids spend lots of money(for me any way). and every time i took my kids they had a different teacher.and one of the teacher was new and had no expierence teaching kids. All of my kids didnt pass. There excuse was one of the teacher had emergancys and they could not do nothing about that, well i asked for them to teach my kids for free because my kids didnt learn anything with differnt teachers. Theydenied my petition, they didnt even offer to give me discount for then nexttime around. They pertend to understand but they truely didnt. They dont even deserve one star.
Clean low key place to work out. Staff is wonderful.
Idk had a good time I came at a slow time people were friendly and the pool wasnt creepy like most pools
I love it at the kroc center, the workers are soo nice and you can tell they try there very best to make you have an good experience there, once I hade gotten a bloody nose ll if a sudden and they got to it right away and they were very kind and they made sure I was not going to freak out all so there equipment is made with a sturdy strong mutereals too.
Sucks, i was at the hot tub a time ago, and the life guard asked a couple of kids whats their age and they all said they where 12, life guard said that you have to be atleast be 13 to be here, im 13 and the life guard asked me today, whats your age i saud 13 and he said you have to be 14 to be here, i was counfused but overall it sucks
Ive had good times there, and some bad but its a nice place to go have fun. The pool has a ton of chlorine, just dont swallow.
The best pool in town for all ages to swim any time weather bad or good LOL
First lady was rude. But then a light from heaven popped in just as i was about to leave and answered all my questions even gave me and my 10 yr old complimentary passes to check it put for free our first time. Guy was super hopeful.
This is a really good place to play and swim but i suggest only one thing, an outdoor swimming pool
Our grandkids had a blast here
The workout equipment, pools, and basketball court are great, but the customer service is terrible. Most of the employees are teenagers who dont give a crap. You can be by the gyms front desk for 5-10 minutes and the workers would be playing in the basketball court.
Its good just most nights when my family want to go we dont always know the open swim time but other wise its awsome we have a mebership so i want to go as much as i can its awsome.
Love this place! Always clean and safe for kids
Such a great facility for the Salem area! Great stories behind this place!
Its awesome its a great place to go swimming with your family
What a fantastic facility, what an awesome gift the Krocs have given our community!
Its a good place to exercise let that people exercise there free
Great place for making friends, climbing, diving, and working out in an uplifting environment.
They are racist towards black people and get you in trouble for every thing.
It says online they close at 10:00 but the guy said they close a t 9:00...Also they take a long time to clean the pools
The best family center
The lifeguards are extremely rude.
Very beautiful environment and friendly people.
Good place for kids
An amazing organization!
Dont forget to bring a towel. Or if there might be some.
Awesomeness!
It is great to meet people.
Good pool
Very clean. And friendly staff.
Rock climbing worker was very rude.
Pleasant all around
I love to do my physical therapy in the lazy river
Need some steam room
It was lit
