Unfortunately the tours were booked, but I expected that since it was so close to Halloween. I went the day before Halloween to view the house and get pictures which was perfect since almost no one was there. Drove by again on Halloween day and it was packed! The Witch House is one of many beautiful historic stops in Salem. Would definitely recommend going to see it.

The two stars are for the attention of the lady who receives you who is wonderful, you pay 9 dollars and the tour is 3 minutes. I recommend you go to the museum. the outside is better. inside there is nothing to see, do not throw your money.

No photography allowed inside but wow what an amazing place. They have it filled with descriptive placards and did an amazing job of preserving the house interior to its originality. Fairly quick tour but very neat and informative for what its worth. Also for a very reasonable price.

We spent five busy days in Salem, and we both agree that this was the coolest thing that we did. Extremely well-preserved and informative. Equal parts entertaining and educational, definitely a must-visit if youre in the area! Tickets can be purchased online ahead of time which is always a plus. Staff was super kind and helpful!

The staff was nice but a little awkward. Explaining details about things that didn’t really seem relevant to the experience.Shop prices were amazingly inexpensive to what I expected. And I appreciated the time slots of ticket purchases that allowed me to visit other locations before my time slot happened.

Very interesting old historic house directly related to the witch trails. Only wish pictures of the inside were allowed as there was a lot of information i would have loved to read again. I also love colonial first period architecture so documenting the inside is important to me.Very beautiful house. I especially loved the last room, the great hall because it had the most information about the trial and witchcraft beliefs of the time. This was all really cool.Ive seen People here complain about how short it is but they dont rush you and its self guided. Well worth the money we paid!

Its an amazing look into the history of Salem and I love that about the house but pictures are not allowed inside. I wish the staff was a little more involved in explaining things and helping understand the history of the house.

This had all of the potential to be a great experience. Instead, the rude staff made me want to leave the house the moment I stepped in. They would yell at you if you entered the wrong room after not explaining where to go and in what order– mind you, after having described this as a self-guided tour. Probably the rudest people Ive ever come across. Not worth the money.

The Witch House was my favorite stop in Salem so far! Make sure you take advantage of the house guide, she had so much more insight into the history of Salem, the house, and the witch trials. I liked the availability of online ticket purchasing to get the time you wanted, and their practice of social distancing.

Eh. In pictures, it looks better. In person, its a lot smaller. I imagine in October, they set pumpkins out to add to the decor

Fascinating history. We had purchased our tickets online for the first tour. We had two different guides, one on the first floor and another on the second. Both were extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. No photos are allowed inside the building. There is a small gift shop before you exit the building.

I have been here before and loved it, this last pass I tried to go in with my toddler and the employee there was so rude to me and my family that we asked for our money back, when we asked for our money back she screamed you can just get out and youre not getting nothing back! In front of my 3 year old....beyond unprofessional, Houses of the Seven Gables is a lot bigger, a lot cooler, on site parking and its CHEAPER! We called and left messages and couldnt even get a response from a manager or the owner. Very disappointing outcome.

Re
Review №15

Not worth the money at all. First of all they dont have a bathroom, which in such a busy area would be really helpful considering its a paid ticket. Secondly, we finished walking through the whole place in less than 15 minutes - its only 4 rooms or so. Yes, its interesting to see things, but it was quite random without a guided tour. The staff wasnt very welcoming; they just pointed us to the rooms and thats it. Photography isnt allowed, I dont know why. A great way to waste $11 per person - I dont recommend it at all. Tourist trap.

The house was interesting, we went to the very last opening of the day and my sister and I left like we were being rushed out. Someone turned the lasts off on us (which they apologized for) and then at the last room we were kinda asking questions and finishing up and the one woman asked if wed like you use the back or front exit. All in all cool house, couldve been an off day for them.

Review №24

A bit disappointed. The house is a historical home from the period and is furnished with period pieces. As many have said, it has nothing to do with witches and makes the name misleading. If you want to see a period house and furnishings, then you will like it. Based on their website and name, I was expecting more about the accused.

This place had nice displays and some information about the former inhabitants. There wasnt a guided tour, but you could hear the docents in each room starting conversations with guests and giving them some really interesting details about the house and its history. I really liked the exhibit in the second floor about corpse medicine.

This was one of my favorite adventures on our trip! There’s so much American history in this house and it is definitely a must when planning a trip to Ma. There is a small fee to enter the house and took us about 45 minutes to an hour to tour. We lingered for much longer since it wasn’t that packed and the staff were very knowledgeable with the rich history here. There are no restrooms in the attraction and they ask everyone to turn the flash on their phones off.

The last known standing building linked directly to the Witch trials. A MUST DO when visiting Salem. You can feel the spookiness flowing throughout the house. Just opt out for the self guied tour as you are only able to visit 6 rooms. No reason you should pay an extra fee for a tour so short and little.

Review №54

The inaptly named Witch House has its only ties to the Salem Witch Trials as being the home of Judge Jonathan Corwin. No one from the home was ever accused of being a witch. However, as the only structure still standing today that is related to the witch trials, it is an important piece of history. The rooms are laid out with authentic and replica pieces to demonstrate what colonial life was like. It is a nice little museum, and worthy of a visit to see how things used to be.

Informative. There is so much misunderstood about Salem in general but especially about the witches. Cool place and this time of year Halloween- you have more vendors, shops, food, shows, walks, history tours. Its a good time to go and just be ready for spotty parking and a lot of people.

Well maintained cottage with props from or based on the period. Less of a museum, as the artifacts arent only on shelves or set up on walls, but the furniture is set up exactly as they would have been. Some reading, but there are also charming staff available for any questions, or even additional information if you dont know what to ask.

Out of all the historical places I visited in Salem, the Witch House seemed to contain the most artifacts of all. Taking a self-guided tour, my friend and I saw everyday objects from that period, such as eating utensils and furniture, but also bones and other items. The house itself is also from that time, you can truly feel the history contained inside.

Review №78

The best part was the architecture of the house. The museum was not that great, nothing terribly interesting. Wont take long to walk thru, so if you just really have to go, just go and take 30 minutes and do it. But if you miss it, youre alright, dont stress out about it. Even just taking pictures from the outside to just say you were there is probably ok. Was ok overall, would not go back tho.

Well kept. I want to thank thw lady in the gift shop. She recommended some great places around town. Watch your step going up the stairs. They do get steep. The things in the house are well managed and informative. There apparently is a 3rd floor but its not tour safe. They do have a gift shop you can get small things in. I wanna say we paid $8 per adult. Not bad. Theres Ropes Mansion next door and a beautiful church.

Excellent little museum in a house that is 300 plus years old. It doesnt really have any witch connections other than it belonged to one of the judges. But the staff is fantastic and you can get a great education on what life was like in the Massachusetts Bay New England colony during the late 16 hundreds. Even for a wealthy family it was so amazingly tough.
