My wife and I visited this village in late October 2020. We got some fun pictures since its after peak season (in Massachusetts) and tourism is at a minimum (due to Covid-19). This allowed us to see the village in nearly un-interrupted silence. Its also where they shot opening scenes from the famous Halloween film - Hocus Pocus in 1993.

Entry is $5 which I believe is fair. We walked around for about 10 minutes to view all of the buildings here and take a few photos. l feel like most people visiting are visiting for Hocus Pocus. Still, very beautiful location. I do wish there were more signage or information displayed for people wanting to learn more about what is what here.

You could imagine how thrilled I was to visit being a huge Hocus Pocus fan. They opened fairly later in the day (3pm, we tried to go in the morning. But it was so cool to actually get to go inside the houses and see how these people lived. You can really appreciate the architecture behind these houses when visiting. Our guide was super informative. He had a themed outfit and was barefoot! I guess to be with the theme?

My husband and I visited here because 1) I love the history and knowledge you learn about our past but 2) my husband was such a behavioral issue as a kid that he was never calm enough to make it through the entire tour so we took HOURS and soaked in all the knowledge and special tours we could.

Are your kids old enough to be interested in history? Salem Pioneer Village is a great part of a day trip. This is a reconstruction built for a film, but well researched and maintained. The location is small and rustic, perched on a pretty spot overlooking Salems harbor. It is small, and easily walked though not great for wheelchairs. Spend an hour or two, then head up the road for other Salem sites like the House of Seven Gables and the various sites related to the witch trials. Parking is limited. I have only been there off season so not sure if parking is free or not, since October is a big time of year in Salem. Wear comfortable shoes. Site is small but gravel paths will be more comfortable for sneakers.

Cool place to see how settlers really live. Love the butter churn. New construction going on, cant wait to see what is new. Great actors and also awesome ducks in the nearby pond. Highly recommend you check this out for both tourists and locals alike. Ask for discounts on large group packages. Great for field trips, company trips, etc. Five stars! A+!

Love this place, an evocation of what Salem might have looked like in 1630. Off the beaten path, and not well known among tourists, which is unfortunate. Take a break from the touristy downtown and visit Pioneer Village.

We did an evening storytelling tour here and it was awesome. All the storytellers were great, but there was one woman in particular that really stood out. My wife and her brother came back later in the evening to do the haunted house-like tour they offer, but they said it was too dark to see most of it.

Big disappointment! These people need to get their act together. I called several times (recorded message with Witch House Hours) & emailed (no reply). The website said they had tours at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and said tickets ($6) could be purchased at the gate in Forest River Park or the Witch House. At Witch House they confirmed tour times & said admission was free with Witch Museum ticket ($8.25). We arrived at the gate for the 2:30 tour, others were waiting, nobody ever arrived to give the tour.

If you do The Witch House tour, ask for the Salem Pioneer Village tour, you will get village tour for free. When we did this tour, our tour guide was the only worker there. He did a fantastic job giving the history, but I thought there would have been much more going on. This is not the really village, this was built in the 1930 to show the history of the area. I still recommend stopping by and doing the tour.

Dont even waste your money. First none of the employees knew when exactly they opened. Then they opened and the guy informs us that there is no charge just a 3$ donation. Okay seems cool except when you walk in try to use the only bathroom which is a porta potty and it looked liked it should have been emptied months and months ago. Obsolutly disguisting. Then we learn that none of the employees showed up so there was no tour. The village was not up kept and there was trash everywhere! Hard to feel in the moment with Mountain Dew cans. Also no fact cards or people dressed up to explain. Especially since they used this village for hocus pocus they could use so many of these aspects to make a great area instead its a dump.
