Plenty of parking, couple trails to walk around and explore. There is old ammunition storage areas, 2 old military bunkers, a lighthouse, and plenty of benches to sit down to take in the view. Its right on the water so you can walk down to the beach an take a look in the tide pools in between the rocks.

Pretty cool place. You can hike around the whole little peninsula. Has camping for tents and RVs. the price wasnt too bad to get in for the whole day

Part campground, part rocky beach, part abandoned buildings. Definitely a strange place with a nice view of the ocean. Passing through a pavement campground to get to the little walking area is a little odd. Not the most intuitive signage when approaching kinda confusing but drive through the camp area to find the public parking where the view is.

While visiting Winter Island, check out Ft. Pickering. Although its not a huge sight seeing area, you can explore the sea creatures, climb rocks, dock, kayak, and swim. $10 cost to park.

Amazing place to be specially because of the views. The water is amazing with great views during sunsets and the lighthouse is the best. Not alot of parking during busy times but there is alot of parking at the Salem Willows and walk down to the Fort. There is a lot of history here and its amazing.

Old small fort on winter Island. Fun to combine with the lighthouse and a stroll along the beach. Parking rate is a bit steep though, you can park cheaper before entrence on the island and walk the last 500 meters

After paying $15 for parking, there wasnt much to see or do, from a fort perspective. We picked a dud. Maybe if we came to swim at the beach all day it would be a better story. But we didnt even stay an hour, and we lost our binoculars.

Historically interesting place used from 1600s through WW II. It is inside a park with a $15 parking fee. There are also camping, swimming, picnicing and boat launch areas. The views are beautiful. You can watch boats coming and going from the harbor.

Great place for ocean side photography... in the early spring at least. I got some amazing sunset shots of the lighthouse but being so late in the day, I didnt get to explore the whole area. Made friends with a local who mentioned in the summer it is a campground and from the sounds of it, it is gated with someone on duty 24/7. So if youre looking for scenery during the summer months, you may want to find details about entry before venturing out here.

For a Salem resident this is a great location. Swimming, or just laying out on the beach, lighthouse and camping, fishing or just lazying about. Resident can buy a pass that is good for 2 years and for non residents its no more to visit than the other much more crowded beaches within an hours drive.Very family friendly but remember if your four legged family member comes along they cant visit the beach and have to be leashed. The willows is just down the road with lots of different food option as well as the new clam box and bands play on different weekends. Camping in tent or Rv is available and you need to call ahead as they fill up on the popular dates.
