Road leading to this park is gravel. Beautiful park with all the necessary amenities. Portable toilet, picnic tables and fire pits for cooking. Handicap parking is also included here. Beautiful park for a hike. The wildflowers are beautiful in the prairie reserve. About a 20-30 minute hike down to the river with benches along the way to rest. Not a paved trail but very well maintained. Posted no dogs allowed here.
Beautiful spot with views of the bluffs and lovely wide trail along the Root River. A few picnic tables and a pit toilet are conveniently located next to the parking lot. Sadly, that is the only area where dogs are allowed. You are not supposed to take them on the trails.
I didnt get out of the parking lot because I had my pup with me. Glancing through the parks and places I could have walked, I didnt see that dogs are not allowed in the park but there is a big sign at the entrance. We went to game haven instead and had a great, dog friendly time.
Nice almost 2 mile nature trail around the river bend. Great places to skip rocks, play in the water, watch for eagles soaring, and unplug. Only negative, no dogs allowed.
Great place to get outdoors without needing to drive too far out of Rochester. Thanks to Olmsted county parks for doing such a great job maintaining so many of our local natural areas.
There arent a lot of amenities, but the hike is just lovely for a park in Rochester.
Nice clear trail and picnic area. Biggest downside was 90% of the trail was covered in swarms of bugs. Beautiful spot when you get a break from the bugs!
Beautiful park. Easy hike
We visited in winter twice and enjoyed the walk and hike, but you cant enjoy the trail in summer due to BUG, you cant stand, walk or even turn around without bugs entering into your mouth, ears, nose and all the exposed holes. Only for winter
Somehow Ive missed this gem in the time Ive lived in Rochester. What a gorgeous (and easy) hike! I spent a good 45 minutes just hanging out by the water... Cant wait to go back!
Always beautiful!
Advertising as pet friendly then no dog signs all over
What a cool place, nice quiet place, easy hike. Nothing too spectacular, but a nice river location.
Beautiful and very scenic
If you are looking for a remote natural area for hiking and seeing the bluffs of the Root River, you will enjoy this area. No modern amenities, water, nor flush toilets. A nice hiking trail and picnic area.
Great year round walking trail. Be ready for 2 miles. Plan ahead like water and snacks if you need them.
Delightful little hike with the family, there are fire pits and a bbq by the parking lot. Walk to the river is about 3/4 miles from parking lot. We saw a ton of monarch butterflies.
Hidden gem just south of rochester!
Small but peaceful, grass path so best to wear waterproof shoes if dewy or wet
This place is amazing. Wonderful place to hike around or fish. This place embodies what I have come to love about Minnesota.
Doesn’t allow even leashed dogs
A nice quick hike next to the river
Would have loved to walk my dog there on its leash but i see no dogs allowed..so didnt go...i think most all with dogs are good about cleaning up after their dogs..wish the county would allow this
Great place 6o take your dogs. Plenty of room for them to run with ample wildlife. Deer, pheasants and great views of the river and bluffs
Dogs are not allowed on the trails
Great place for a walk! Quiet little surprisingly picturesque 2 mile path. Part of the path is wooded, part valley, and it runs along the Root River! It takes about an hour to leisurely enjoy the walking path.
Occasionally super busy. Usually relatively low key. Rarely 12 will lurk in the lot
Enjoyed walking through the park with my daughter. It is quite and peaceful down by the river. The mature trees and limestone bluffs provide a nice location to sit and watch nature. The young prairie was spotted with blooming wild indigo when we were there.
Wide trails and easy terrain; able to enjoy the river below.
Pretty Nice park, good place for a walk, quite takes about 2.30 to go through a loop, walking with kids at a slow pace
Lots of flood debris this spring. Still a beautiful place to walk for a couple miles, and enjoy Mother Nature.
The park is nice... the countys usage guidelines stink. The park brochure on the website clearly implies you could have a dog there as long as: Pets are leashed at all times and cleaned up after, and not allowed to roam outside the developed area. O.k. Im good with that... seems reasonable enough. Yet after driving all the way there, signs at the trailhead clearly indicate dogs are NOT allowed. And you are made to feel like a common criminal with the threat of fines and others tattling on you should you be so bold as to violate this rule. In my opinion an 8 ft. wide regularly mowed and maintained path through what would normally be 6 ft high prairie grass or dense woods, is in fact developed. So which is it??? Dogs on-leash on developed paths or no dogs at all?
Nice park close to Rochester, not a difficult hike.
AMAZING!!! BEAUTIFUL AND VERY WELL KEPT.
This is a nice, hidden gem on the Root River. It is a hilly park with a nice variety of tree coverage and open ground. There is a small parking area and bathroom. Worth an afternoon hike.
Great place too chill.
This is one of the most beautiful parks in the area. This is where i got married.
No dogs allowed.
Nice with basic amenities and trails. Great for a picnic or walk.
Very good for a long hike. Beautiful
Nice hike at a scenic natural area.
In the middle of nowhere not real busy most of the time if you come here do the full loop check the map in the parking lot
Quiet, tranquil, well-maintained park! I loved it!
Love the trails and scenery
Beautiful
Beautiful!
Little gem of a place just outside of Rochester.
