I visit Genesee Valley Park for the trail system.I enjoy visiting this park because of the leisurely trail system that runs along the river from downtown... passing through the University Of Rochester Campus and connecting to this park. The trail also connects from this park onto the erie canal trail. The trail is great for jogging, biking, rollerblading or easy walks. 5 Stars!
This is a really nice park with quite a few picnic spots, play ground and jogging places. The best part is that there is a trail that runs on the both sides of the river and just close by enough so that you could have a nice sunset view. The park ends at the University of Rochester. There is a bridge that connects the other side of the river and it is also a fantastic spot for sunset. This has been my go to place for walks or biking!
Nice space for lots of activities. It was our home base for Light up the Night kickoff group ride for Bicycle Week. Very well attended in this 20th Anniversary. I think the ride came in a little shy of 12 miles vs. the advertised 8.
It was peaceful and allowed me some time to do some self-reflecting... Before I left I was QUITE THANKFUL for more things, and people than I realized. Theres a lot of Negative Things going on, this actually was my FIRST TIME ever visiting this park. Loved it.
Cool park in downtown Rochester. They have many shelters, with grills around the area. The park has some trails, but Ive never really bothered to walk them.
Great county golf course to get out and exercise. They offer online reservations for all the county courses.
This is a pretty nice park. Ive played kickball here for years and it has always been a fantastic time. Lots of wild life and they keep it mowed well. Sometimes parking can get tough during peak kickball and if the lodges are rented. There are definitely some odd vehicles that basically drive in, smoke or sell or buy some drugs then drive out, but its infrequent. You only notice it once in a while if youre sitting in the parking lot for a while. They think they are being sneaky but they arent.
The Arch bridge is where we hung out being bad as teenagers. Mike & I still go there on nice days to sit by the river. This is near my grandfathers boat house where my parents met.
I grew up going to Genesee Park for the past 62 years I love it its a good part.
I always knew this place was big but today I discovered there are two more entrances that I didnt know about. Lots of pavilions. Lots of open space. Lots of big old trees.
Great park with wide open field space. We love playing our season of summer kickball there ever year. #klorI highly recommend this park
Great place to explore the different trails, bike, run, walk, hidden spots, play on the playground. Use the different shelters in the park to host different types of events.
Great quiet trails to walk the dogs. I wish there were receptacles to throw away doggie doo bags.
One of my favorite parks in the city. Walking, biking and kayaking through the parks many trails and bridges is what sets this park apart. Also, there are many fields for soccer, baseball and other sports. Golfing (if thats your thing) and foot golf. The pavilions are great for renting too. On rare occasion, an occupied shelter can be near another and might be loud but the rest are spread out. Overall, one of the best!
I have been going there since I was a young kid and my grandson and I road the bike trails and enjoyed it very much.
Had a great time! Conoed down river 1 1/2 hours to get here and 1 1/2 to get get back. It was a great adventure. ;-)
Saw many deer at dusk. Played golf. Beautiful park overall.
Nice cool place to walk, run or just enjoy the scenery of the landscape and the turning of the leaves for the fall season
Its a beautiful park. Especially the bridges that cross over the canal. Walking under the highway is really cool too. Go explore it
Well maintained trails and great access to different parts of the city. Lots of shade even on hot days and plenty of room to spread out from others
Plenty of room, to hit my golf balls. Nice friendly people. Very safe, no danger
This is a big area. We walk our dog all over. Very nice place. Tranquil.
Awesome scenery, especially in the fall. Great hiking trails.
I love to walk the trail very peaceful full of beautiful nature! I also enjoyed the art of wood sculpture I call the hands...because thats what it looks like to me.
Great facility to have available to families in Rochester. We use the pool but love the ice rink and baseball fields too.
Nice park plenty of room to move around would be a better place for kids if it wasnt for the constant smell of drug usage
Great park full of arrogant and pretentious people. I know your so fantastic but can you please wear a mask. Keep your nastiness to yourself. Yuk.
Great place to relax or take a walk ride a bike have a picnic
Lovely views beautiful walk pass great place to take dogs would be nice if they include water fountains for both humans and animals
The reason why I love coming to genesee valley park is because it brings back memories and I enjoy riding my bicycle and taking walks on the trails, excellent experience.
That was where the early voting was held. Very pretty.
Beautiful fall colors, nice quiet park with shelter and playground for the kids.
The pool at the sports complex is very nice and big but they do not have gender neutral options to enter the pool. You have to either enter the mens or womens locker room and that is a very dated way to do things
Nice place. Good trails. Some places feel safer than others.
Very nice park but needs little TLC.
A great place to bring children: with hiking trails, playgrounds, and a swimming pool.
Its a beautiful place. Unfortunately they put 390 on one side, Elmwood is on the other meaning traffic can be heard. I have found it to be a refuge. Typically the park is less crowded. Also, I have not found a tick on my dogs or myself. We go through some heavy underbrush, tall grass and on the secret paths frequently. By comparison to Mendon Ponds where I found four ticks on my dogs and myself after one visit, I definitely prefer Genesee Valley Park. There are many features to the park. Several pavilions can be rented for parties. There is a fantastic brand-new playground at the corner of Genesee and Scottsville/Elmwood in the north west corner of the park. A second playground is on the east side and accessible by using the park drive off Elmwood. There are multiple baseball diamonds, a place for cricket and lit tennis courts. Also, the boathouse has kayaks and canoes for rental. The canal trail bike trail and Genesee bike trail intersect in the park, as such there is a fair amount of bikers. It is a great place to ride. Off-road on the paved path is very relaxing compared to on street riding. Its a great way to get comfortable with longer rides without the distraction of car traffic.Good birding, at least according to this non-expert. Many cranes, duck varieties, herons, blackbirds, etc inhabit the space. Canoeing/kayaking the river is a great way to see the lush life on the river. In the winter I enjoy following the animal tracks and guessing based on the size of the track. Squirrel, rabbit, raccoon and coyote have been my guesses. The park is home to innumerable ground hogs as well. Little in the way of deer. Rarely are their deer droppings except in the south east corner of the park where someone puts out bread for the wildlife.
We had a nice picnic with our daughter there.
Nice park, free admission, plenty of parking and pavilions that can be reserved. Lots of people seemed to be driving through pretty fast though, so watch out when crossing roads!
I go to Genesee Valley Park often to have a picnic and chill out with friends and family. This park is indeed great for barbeques and picnics. First, it is huge and has parking spaces around the park so you will be able to park near your picnic spot. Also, they have grills on several spots along with gazebo next to them. Great for kids to hang around. Overall, great place and would keep visiting here :)
Still alot to be discovered. It was nice though, to see people enjoying the park.
Always nice park to visit. Tons of space and beauty
As a new to golf person, it was fun. Prices are good. Course is well maintained.
Great place to go for a walk. Some very large old trees.
Genesee Valley Park is one of the most well known parks in the city of Rochester. It has well maintained tennis courts, a public swimming pool which is heavily attended in the summer, 3 baseball fields and plenty of running, riding or walking trails. The firefighter training facility is on one of the trails and sometimes you can catch them practicing putting out fires.Theres also picnic areas with tables and grills. The playground was rebuilt in the fall of 2017 and went from two separate playgrounds to one. There is a medium sized building with male and female bathrooms that can be rented out for small events. The building hosts a day camp in the summer.
I went there to vote. Clean neighborhood park.
Nice place to take walks
Great place for all occasions photo shoots, nice place to bring someone special or a first date to go Canoeing
Beautiful park. Paths are well maintained and it has a lot of space to enjoy and explore.
Great place to walk, run, and bike ride and have picnics.
Beautiful everyone pratice social distance and wore masks
Had a great run this evening
I love the park - a lifetime of memories are there. Recently had a socially distanced lunch with friends at the round house pavillion. Got takeout from Campis on Scottsville Rd.
Went kayaking and had a great time. Lots of trails
Another great place with space outside for semi-large gatherings
I photographed a wedding here last week. It was super pretty! I think it would be beautiful for any photos or even a day out. If you need a photographer my page is Seeloff Photography on Facebook and Instagram.
Love the walk along the river. A real gem for Rochester.
Always always nice to enjoy nature. Would be so considerate of people to pick up their trash at the picnic table areas making full use of the trash barrels at each one.
Love the place and the security guard was so professional
Beautiful place to visit on a warm fall day
Lots of variety and ages of trees in a great park setting.
Course could use some work but still a great time with this weather.
Absolutely beautiful
I met my Friend there and was reminded Im not the only Friend in their life! Never going back there. Park is great but the memory sucks!
Well maintained public park. Good for walking and running.
♡Beautiful♡ One of my favorite places in Rochester!
Genesee valley Park is one of Rochesters largest Parks, plenty of barbeque spots and fishing access. Lots of open space and for plenty of wildlife.
South golf course was in great condition, greens were good, fairways were full and cut nicely
This park has been cleaned up so well over the years. It is now a great thing in the early morning as I drive through to see everything from wild Turkeys, White Tailed Deer, Raccoons and Hawks. Please keep this park going and clean.
Nice enviorment.Plenty of room for kids to play.
Very relaxing and beautiful scenery
Took our scout troop here for kayaking on the Genesee river and the Erie canal. The folks at the kayak rental place were very helpful and allowed us to perform capsizing practice on their docks.
Beautiful old park along the river, old stone bridges and lots of areas to explore.
Nice park, nice place to play kickball. Grass is well cut.
It was and still is Fathers Day and took my hubby to have a bbq. We had a wonderful time food was good to lol. Nice park.
This place was quaint, and the kick ball was hype
Good food & good service
Picnic areas, with water taps and grills, open fields, woods, walking paths along the waterway, this park has just about everything I could want!
Great place to get out of the house, great place to get six feet apart from people!
Very nice for a family get together.
Oh this was a perfect day for a beautiful walk.
Great experience walking through the trail..
The coarse was in great shape and it was cheap to play.
Beautiful, green and huge park to unwind yourself. A great location with golf course, shelters for parties and cookouts, lots for space for games.
