Small, intimate theater where you feel like you are literally part of the show. We randomly selected our seats but I get the feeling that no ticket would constitute a bad viewing experience. I absolutely love it. I wish more theaters were like this.
Best kept secret in live performance in Downtown Rochester. Clean Auditorium; the Parking is great and ticket prices are reasonable
What a spectacular show! The cast, crew, and musicians were all top notch. The seating good and we had A GREAT view.
First time experience, wife and I enjoyed the show, Peter and the Starcatcher. There’s not a bad seat in the house. However, if you are taller you may want to get a front row seat so you can stretch your legs out a little more. Blackfriars is a gem and glad to become acquainted with this theatre.
A perfect size theater. No matter where you are seated you are close enough to the stage/actors and see the actors countenance. Besides, the ticket prices are reasonable. Couldnt ask for more.
The venue is intimate. It was my first time attending a play here. I enjoyed it immensely and will be attending future events.
Absolutely loved their Imagination Station and story time for our son, looking forward to becoming a continuous supporter here.
Intimate venue. Welcoming staff & volunteers. Good parking. Spectacular performances.
We always enjoy ourselves at Blackfriars Theater productions. This summer intensive program for the youth up and comers is a super way to enjoy the theater and theater team. This production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee brought us terrific talent that we look forward to seeing in future productions around Rochester and beyond.
Saw Lion King. Very good place.
This theater is truly top notch, that has great actors, professional done sets and there is not a bad seat in the house. Have gone many times over the years.
Had a wonderful experience! The stage area is very intimate so you can dont have to worry about your seat making you miss a thing. The staff was very friendly. Highly recommend attending a show when you can.
They do interesting theater in an intimate space and I enjoyed the big anniversary fundraiser party in the parking lot!
A small, intimate theater with many offerings in different genres
Wonderful venue! Not a bad seat in the house.
Love drag hour with Kasha Davis!!!
Love supporting this theater that hosts Drag Story Hour and our Big Wigs: Mrs. Kasha Davis and Aggy Dune. Small venue, but the manager is super nice.
Great Fringe event tonight! A Rochester gem.
For such a small venue, I was surprised at how many bathrooms they had. All-gendered, single person. Clean, nice, and small.
Went to see Drag Story Hour with Mrs. Kasha Davis and it was amazing. So much fun and best of all, FREE!
Wonderful local theater with an intimate stage. Worth a visit and I will go back again to see future shows.I saw the show, Avenue Q. Loved it. Great job
This is a wonderful theatre. I just saw Avenue Q and it was fantastic. Better than I could have imagined. The cast was phenomenal and its a small theatre with a cozy feel
Came to see the performance a co-worker. This is a small performance art venue. I enjoyed the performance and appreciate the intimacy of such a venue.
Nice intimate venue. Very friendly staff.
What an amazing theater! Only 100 seats, but still very reasonable ticket prices, its like being on stage. We saw avenue q there, such an amazing experience!
Saw chorus line which was fantastic. Not a bad seat in the house! Refreshments are reasonably priced. Nice to see!
Great show!! We saw The Golden Gays NYC!!! It was hilarious. Thanks for bringing them to Rochester!!
This particular space has been well fitted for a nice intimate and small black box theater. My only issues here are the seat sizes, which feel cramped on the sides even for me and Im not that big a guy. I did not like their sound system in house either, which lacked good quality in the lower tones and bass. The speakers need to be of much higher quality in order to enjoy performances better.
Loved the show Anna in the Tropics. Everyone of the characters were great. Nice to see something about the Latino community for a change.
REALLY GREAT THEATER IN DOWNTOWN Rochester.. Also Off street parking.. (limited)..
This is by far one of the highest quality theater venues in Rochester. A top notch artistic team and stylish venue make for an all around pleasing experience. I have not seen a show here that I have not been impressed with. I always leave the theater amazed and cant wait to return.
The Theater is nice and intimate. The show we saw Act 1 of was not a reflection on the theater itself.
Best little black Box theater in town
Small, quaint, and intimate. Saw a chorus line by the high school select group. Very well done and excellent production.
This theater is stunning! Its small and intimate for a truly unique theatrical experience. The performance was amazing as well.
Theatrical performance of Little Women was fantastic in such an intimate setting. It was my first time there and I loved it. I will definitely return.
Great show. Nice small venue.
Every time I attend a performance, Im not let down! Great theater space, the acoustics make it easy to hear throughout the area and outstanding performers! The atmosphere feels professional, but casual as well.
Saw The Underpants play here earlier this month. Very well acted, lovely set design and costumes. But, my goodness, why are the seats so tiny and crammed together?! It was very uncomfortable to sit through the entire show; Im a very averaged sized person. It felt like being on an airplane.
Good theater but relatively small.
Great show with lots of energy. Go early because parking is limited
Great performances!
Terrific performance of Avenue Q. Professional quality production values and talented cast made this a night to remember and a theatre to return to.
Great intimate venue. Performances are fantastic. I have never been disappointed.
It was my first experience and the production was great. Cast and crew did a great job!
Amazing performance of Avenue Q: The Musical. Not a lot of seating so that means we were sitting right up close to the stage with a great view!
Great show, amazing voices
Small, intimate atmosphere with thought provoking shows. Excellent price per show to see some incredible acting and stories.
Saw the Big Wigs show here for Fringe Fest. First time at the theatre, and its the cutest theatre! Comfortable, staff is friendly, will definitely see more shows here!
We saw Little Women - The Musical The actors were all so talented! It was very enjoyable!!!
Great people, amazing show. Really enjoyed everything.
Excellent. Remarkably good story, complex and engrossing, wonderful acting, and very interesting and enlightening discussion afterwards.
Lots of fun and very intimate. The seating is so close, Its like you are on stage with the actors.
Great theater venue! Excellent choice of options throughout the season.
The shows are always well done, and it is incredible what they do with the space.
What an experience. Just a great theater.
Its small, quaint, and a bit pricy but the acting, set design, and set crew are phenomonal and completely worth it!
Intimate theater. Feels like youre on stage
Not a fan of having to walk in from of everyone if you happen to be late. And show should of had an intermission
Very friendly staff, great little theater. Always a wide range of productions available!
Great staff, awesome seating and great acting. You feel like your part of the act.
Blac Friars is a great community theatre experience. Intimate space where youre close to the performance. Its a nice complement to Geva(local equity playhouse) and RBTL/Auditorium Theatre (traveling Broadway Road shows).
Saw the most wonderful show last nite....felt like a time traveler back to the days of LITTLE WOMEN @ Blackfriars Theatre!! Its the musical and the music was so perfect for the story..and if you really listened to the words...touched the heart!! The cast was so very well selected for each character you just were a part of the family circle !!LITTLE WOMEN was one of the first big girl book that I read and each character was exactly as I had imagined them those 60+ yrs ago. (That was a monumental feat in itself!) And what they did with that stage....the SET is just beautiful with a full wall sized portrait that transports you from scene to scene - - just a phenomenal bit if theatrics.!! CONGRATULATIONS!! to Danny Hoskins, Mary Tiballi-hoffman, the cast, musicians, and crew for giving us such a beautiful production this Holiday seasonCALL ASAP -(454-1260) to be able to get to see this show!! Word has it Its close to a total sellout..so call quickly and its even worth it to get on the Waiting list or SRO!!Too beautiful to miss....!!! So warm, loving, uplifting and enduring -- a show that will remain a part of your days!!
The physical performance was great, but the playwriting, not so much. The bathrooms were small, looked really weird, and the whole building except for the performance area feels cramped.
A small local theater with great plays.
Excellent customer service! Top quality performances
Fantastic plays and wonderful setting. It was small but it worked.
The theater was overly warm last night!
Re: Flight Before Christmas, we were very disappointed, poor acting, shouldve been rated R instead of PG as we were informed, left during intermission, what a waste of money, @ we had our 19 yr. Grandson from S.D.
Great affordable productions. Very quant yet professional.
Not a bad seat in the house.
Great small theater! Friendly staff
Chorus line was amazing.
