Vic Thomas Park

This is a great part for walking, bicycle riding, & skateboarding. There are water fountains, a repair station for bicycles and stands with bags to use to pick up your dogs poo. All along the trail are exercise stations with instructions. I start on the trail behind Black Dog. From there, to the left & down the hill, the trail is about five & a half miles each way. To the right & up the hill, over the bridge, then down the hill on the left & under the bridge, the trail is about 2 miles.

Great place to get onto the greenway. Nice sculpture garden to stroll through along the river. Pretty and quiet. Ample parking.

Great walking by the river! Spartan in the sculpture department, hopefully theyll add more. The sculptures present are pretty cool though. Exercise stations are present for those out for more than a walk/ride. Plenty of dog waste mgmt stations as well along the river walk.

The Blue Ridge Marthon came through this area & the community was nice. Lovely area!

Vic Thomas Park is clean, safe, and well maintained. I wish there was a bike lane, but the cyclists are mostly respectful of pedestrians. More pokestops would be great too!

A solidly average park for Roanoke, nothing that would want me to specifically go here. It can he a nice chance of pace, and I would recommend at least checking it out.

This is a short segment of the Roanoke River Greenway consisting of about a half mile loop. It will be even better once the trees mature. Its located next to Black Dog Salvage. Parking is available. Note that you are connected to the rest of the greenway and NOT limited to this section. Quite a few exercise stations are available, and there are a few sculptures, one of which - I think its titled Calling the Gods - is quite interesting.

Great place for a short or long walk. Great for Pokemon Go if thats your thing.

50 yards from Memorial bridge, but lie you are in the middle of nowhere.

Its a park. Or maybe a parklet; really just a wide area on the greenway with restrooms, grills and some playground equipment. But its quite nice.

We parked there to ride bikes on The Greenway. Its safe, easy to get to.

Bicycles dont always let you know when they are coming. They Should be required to have a bell or horn of some sort to signal their approach. Dog owners dont always clean up behind their dogs.

A great park regardless of the season. In summer, see the large amounts of fireflies. In spring, see the blooming flowers. Fall, foliage, and in winter, a quiet place to reflect.
