Such a beautiful adventure. We all really enjoyed our time there. It was so peaceful and had places you could set up chairs or a blanket and have a picnic. The steep stairs are rough, but then they just end and you have the rest of the steep walk down and back up thats just a hillside. There was quite a bit of trash there, including dirty diapers. Still worth checking out. Bring your water shoes because there is no way to explore without waking in the water.
Nice view from the bridge and the side trail looking down. Theres steps that lead to the bottom for a much wider and total view. Steps are steep and slick at times. Can wade at bottom. Peaceful place.
Cool place to visit. Relaxing if you hang around long enough to notice the sounds of nature/water falls. Close to the road and easy to access. Not usually very crowded.
The park itself was great. The only downside is that the place is created for locals only. The reason being is that there is no restrooms. Anybody that goes there by driving hours would NOT have a place to relieve themselves of their bodily functions except by going into the wood. Even then, there are a lot of snakes in the wood.
Beautiful hidden treasure! We are from Georgia and found this on Google as a local attraction, it didnt disappoint! The kids and I loved our visit. We didnt get to swim since it was kind of cool that morning but the falls were beautiful and the water was crystal clear, so clear we were able to take excellent pictures of a school of baby fish at the edge of the water.
I have been going to Thistlethwaite Falls when i was a kid with my parents. Its the beauty of nature that keeps me going back
Falls were ok. The trail is a mess. The park across the street is a dump with no bathrooms, public dumping trash in the dumpers, poor signs and junk everywhere. Ive been to many many parks in my life and this was near the bottom of my list. Wasnt well taken care of.
Its a little hidden, and it was cold, but its very pretty and relaxing.
Nice falls. Not much else.
Amazing Family Destination for a nice day trip
Right off the Cardinal Greenway. Great park for a picnic or gathering. Great bike or running path nearby.
Very nice and quiet. Nice place to look for rocks and fossils
A wonderful place to be. The city needs to come down and clean it up and make it as amazing as it really could be. Absolutely beautiful.
Great family fun
Nice peaceful trail along the creek with access to the pool at the bottom of the waterfall
Fun place to take the kids to get them outside. If you go during the summer, the kids can play in the water to cool off. Be sure to take water shoes and be wary of slippery rocks on the falls
Place is dirty. I am sure it was once pretty. Sadly enough where more people visit trash begins to accumulate.
Great place to take kids or grandkids and have some fun for free!
Really enjoyed it!Steps are not good so be careful as you go down.
Cool falls and a very short walk to get to them.
We recently went to Richmond and saw the fall although its a very pretty fall the area around it was trashy shoes, clothes, and trash everywhere. Also where we parked when we were done looking went back to the car and someone had busted out one of my car windows. I would suggest if u want to visit take more than one person so u can take turn looking at the fall so u can protect ur belongings.
This place is a nice get-a-way with a park for the kids to play at or shallow water to play in to cool off
Very interesting history behind the falls but other than standing and staring at the falls theres not much to it. If you follow along the right side by the fence you can find a little trail that follows the river for almost half a mile but ends abruptly near the train trestle. The saving grace for this site, as far as Im concerned, is the fact that immediately to its left is a parking area for the Cardinal Greenway which is a great paved trail which stretches from Richmond for >60 miles past Muncie. Great place to walk, run, or ride a bike. It also has a little play area for children and some open space for dogs. Nice little park.
Accessible and clean. Also quite cool. The area had a gentle family vibe.
It is really pretty and peaceful here. The sound of the waterfall was wonderful.
It had rain for 2 days. I waited 3 more days before I checked it out.
Boys enjoyed sliding now the rock waterfall. Its a shame people litter
Nice trails of cement in middle of forest. And nice wide water fall.
Wonderful! Easy to get to and really enjoyed!
Nice beautiful waterfall.
Nice falls, easy to reach. The down side is that the trail is dirty with litter unfortunately.
A nice site to see. There isnt a lot of parking at the falls, but at the park across the street there are plenty of places to park. The falls can get really crowded during the weekend.
Beautiful. The kids loved playing here .
Cool place. Lots of logs and rocks and fossils for my kids to mess around with. Close to the road, but below it so they can roam around.
So beautiful! We really enjoyed our trip here and look forward to coming up in th warmer months!
The river and falls are gorgeous. The copious amounts of trash including dirty diapers left by vile humans made it less than perfect.
Kids luved this place. We will make the drive as much as possible
Fun place for us all to get in the water!
The parking is spot right next to the waterfall so you dont have to go parking down by the trail and have to walk the entire trail. Its literally on the side of the road. This is a really cool thing to go see when chasing waterfalls. Check
Its fun! So great to have a waterfall in our little city. Lots of people climb up or down the waterfall. Theres also room to wade in the water and splash. Bring your bathing suit. Theres also a neat trail running along the side of the river, a few yards away from the stairs (on the right side of the river if youre looking at it from the waterfall). This trail connects to the Cardinal Greenway trail via three different routes. Take one of the two closer to the waterfall if you want to avoid a rather steep climb (e.g. if youre with someone elderly). You could make it a hiking adventure by starting at Thistlethwaite Falls, going to the trail on the right, next to the Cardinal Greenway, from there take a trail by the 65th mile that goes to Springwood Lake Park, then hike around the nature trails there, and finally head back towards Springwood Lake and back to the falls. Or you could go fishing at any of the numerous spots around the falls.
Nice shaded and cool place to spend a hot summer day.
Beautiful I would definitely come back in a warmer season!!
Beautiful little spot with an amazing waterfall! And fun for kids to play in it too! Its just off the road with a small viewing area at the top and one flight of stairs to get to the bottom. The water is shallow enough you can walk right across, and there are also lots of fossilized shells in the rocks if you look for them. The only downsides are that theres no bathroom nearby, and there are no trash cans either. Please do your part to keep it clean. Thank you!
Falls were pretty. Litter on the ground.
Loved! It was beautiful, wasnt overly busy, and my kids loved it!
Great park to walk through if you are ever bored! it has great scenery and if youre into photography its a great spot to take some really nice pictures on those sunny days! the stream is very beautiful just like the waterfall. I enjoyed walking down the stream and viewing all of the nature that comes with it.
Nice place
I hate to say it, but I didn’t enjoy this waterfall at all. Graffiti and garbage all over. Child was urinating in the water as we got there.
Kids played in the falls and had o good time.
Great place to visit
A beautiful waterfall but not very well marked.
Interesting falls, but nothing more than that. I had hoped there would be a trail to walk along the river, but its just the short walk down the stairs to view the falls. I was there in the winter.
It was pretty. Theres a bunch of litter though.
Nice relaxing lol place just off 70
Unique place. Falls were going full blast from the rain from the day before we visited. Worth going to see.
Beautiful waterfall but had a lot of trash on the bank
Tons of fossils to see on the edge! Love the serene atmosphere
Nice little spot.
Nice area to get close to the waterfall, just watch out for stepping on random trash on the ground.
Beautiful falls. The snow and ice added to the effect.
Fun place to cool off
Very pretty little little place.
This is a cool area and close to the Interstate if you want to make a quick stop. You can wade in the water above and below the falls and there are rock beach areas to sit.
Cute little falls. Area could use some clean up..
My son and I love this place
The waterfall is beautiful and there are trails as well
Ill love this place I have been going here all my life I use to play and swim in the water with my dad and when my kids were small i use to take them hunting fossels because its a vein of the whitewater river and there are lots of things to explore for a kid.. and I love to see their expression when they find something new..
This falls was on the Indiana falls trail. Worth seeing.
Love the falls but sadly lots of people leave trash behind
Nice but a little hard to find from park
Incredible! Will be returning!
Granddaughter love it had a blast
Really great waterfall but really need a garbage can for the area
Nice falls and not too busy
Great place for the family. Free
I was in IN visiting family and was doing a bit of exploring and came across this gem of a place. The waterfall was the highlight. It got a little crowded at the bottom of the fall, but not too bad. We actually went across the street to the top and waded around in the water up there. Loved it.
BEAUTIFUL SCENERY CLEAN NICE FOR KIDS
It was a free nice little park.
A place of peace and harmony
The Whitewater River is absolutely beautiful.
Amazing waterfall with easy access.
Very nice man made falls. Easy walking access from road side parking lot. Well worth a visit.
The falls were pretty, but the area was littered with trash and clothing.
You must go if youre in the area. It is beautiful!
The Deane fam always has a great time at Thistlewaite Falls
What a beautiful place to visit! We had a ton of fun searching for fossils and wading in the water. We were the only ones there which was nice. I can see how it could get crowded if multiple families showed up who all had kids, especially if they are obnoxious and loud.Minus a star because of the minor bit of litter, but thats sadly expected in these higher traffic areas.Overall very neat, glad we took the time to visit.
The short height of this falls is offset by the width and beauty. The best views and base of the the falls are a very short walk, a few stairs and a small path from the parking lot (2 minutes). Like all other falls, I am sure that this looks the best when there is a good water flow.
I used to Wade here as a kid, I have had so much fun at this place.
Very nice falls and stream. Not very deep so good for small children. A hidden gem in Richmond!
Fun place to stop and see. I want to go back when there is more water!
