This was an extremely well marked trail. We knew that we needed to follow the orange and purple trail, perfectly mapped. We definitely wish that there weren’t as many view, lookout spots that were covered in telephone poles.

Medium level loop that its done in about 1hr 40min. It has several sections that are beautiful. There are closed portions during hunting season

Very pretty. Be careful when you get to the town side though. Its easy to wander on to someones property. And chances are you may be subject to someone blasting music out of their parked car from nearby houses while you are trying to get your peaceful nature walk in. Stick to the south trail before you get to the Empire Wrecking Dump for the best views and least noise.

This place has it all for nature lovers. Loaded with so many features to explore, I easily spend 4 hours here at a time, Im in love with this place. Take a long hike, walk down to the river, climb up top the rocky cliffs that were carved long ago by glacier, play in the stream running down the whole mountain, see a beautiful lookout over Reading.Visit relics of the past up the mountain where youll find lots of stone structures and hidden cellars built into the side of the mountain! This place holds history and mystery. This place is big, you can fully immerse yourself here and get lost. For nature enthusiasts, there are tons of land variations youd expect to see in the Appalachian region. Neversink mountain is very diverse.Great for mushroom hunting and plant identification as well!

We arrived with the intention of doing the purple trail but came to a detour point due to hunting season (runs Oct-Dec, no hunting at this place on Sundays, wear orange, we were there on a Monday). The alternate trail is not mentioned on the map and there was no clarity as to where it met with our original intended hike nor where it goes, period. Not really a situation I want to be in as I had never been there before. I hiked the alternate route for a bit and ended up turning back due to having no clue as to how it would play out. Hunting season occurs every year, please add the detour to your maps so that people know what to expect. We parked at 91 Klapperthal Road, I attached a photo of the map we encountered when we went right from the parking lot. You can go right or left, you have to walk a bit before you see this map.

One of my girlfriend and I s most favorite local spots that has a short yet rewarding hike up the small mountain to the rewarding lookout at the near top. Our dogs love this trail too!

Very nice loop trail, highly recommend. Orange trail is approximately 6.28 mile with mainly railroad grade 1% or so except starting point at Klapperthal Road just about 1/4 mile SW it climbs a few hundred feet in switchbacks thats not as bad as the that one SW near Klapperthal Junction know as the Lectric Slide. We recommend going counter clockwise easier going up hill then sliding downhill.

I am so glad I checked this place out. I will be going back. I actually went 2 days in a row. The trails wear I started were well marked but when I got to the witches hat it got vagueI wanted to do the long loop but couldnt locate the trail I was looking for. I ended up on a different trail but it was still a great time. I believe I figured out my wrong turn after looking at the map near the parking lot. Their are several points of entry. I didnt notice any restrooms. Their are a lot of rocks to climb on they are a lot more stable then the ones at peace rock. Lots to see and check out. Their were several mountain bikers.

I enjoyed the hike. I arrived at 6:50 pm after work so I ran out of time before it got too dark. I had to shorten my hike. However I will definitely be back soon.

Lightly traveled and in good shape. Very obviously well traveled trails dont appear on the map. Spraypainted cliffs and busted glass make me sad.

This is a really fun area to go on a hike. There is a lot of hiking that can be done on the mountain here. Theres a lot of really old foundations and if you do some research you can find out a lot of history of that area of the county. Once hiking you will see views of areas that you might have never seen before. Very nice trails with a stream and little water ways. Well worth a stop
