City Park

A quaint little park with lots of statues of colonizers. Its clean. Not a lot to do but walk through. They have an amphitheater.Now they have a hot dog stand there which is cool. Im new to the area and have yet to see an event there.

Could use a little sprucing. Good for a workout. Nice houses nearby.

We visit after work, there is an awesome food/taco stand on weekdays. We have been there 3 times and all the food is made to order and so tasty. If you go to the park, highly recommed

City park is one of reading best unknown treasures beautiful park with a turtle pond and children playground and tennis courts basketball any person around this place should take advantage of it

Ive been to other cities and their parks. Only city with NO RESTROOMS in their parks.

Nice place to go sledding when it does snow. The park playground isnt the best but makes up for it with the basket ball courts, open fields. And the fact that its a nice spot to just walk around outside.

From the band shell to the black top basketball courts to its modernized childrens park, City Park is a great example of how diverse Reading, Pa is. One of the greatest perks of this city are is its park system, and City Park is a top-notch example.

I feel like for all the space we have here at this park there should be a public pool built with a recreation center . Mostly the kids that play at this park come from the ruffer part of reading Pennsylvania. So I truly feel that if there was a recreation center here as well as a pool . It be a nicer place for all the kids that be at the basketball courts in the jungle gyms in the field to go to . And have a more positive future.

Its a nice park. Looks way different than it did in my childhood. Sad and happy that they removed the Castle. Happy that they replaced the old equipment with new stuff!

The best park

It is a very ideal place to visit. That being said, some repairs could be made which would take my rating up to a 4 star. There are broken and bent rims in which significantly reduces the amount of available play space.

Nice, mostly clean park. The only problem I have is that the steps are worn and in even. The pond is nice.

A great place to relax, until You have to use a restroom. My first experience at a public park where there are no restrooms. Basketball courts which are used alot but NO RESTROOMS? A playground for children but NO RESTROOMS? If a person does not live real close to the place You could have a problem. Could somebody please explain why a city park has no restrooms?

Nice little playground area, Plenty of shade from large trees, Has walking paths, Very close to schools. Nice place to relax at times

I like it because it is a nice place to relax and you can see the pond and relax and feed the ducks.

Nice park for the most part, has basketball court tennis and a playground. No soccer though but, there is a decent sized grass field here. Has a great path thats great to jog on in the morning. They have bathrooms but I never seen them open, I dont know why theyre there if you cant use them. Theres a lot of memorials as well incuding police and firefighters memorials.

Older kids always ruin the fun for my small children......cursing climbing on top of the playground, I have even seen teenagers skipping school making out in the park. It is close to home but if its possible I always opt to go to a different park

Reading drivers got nothing on me. Rude yes... Im simply have more skill. Be kinder drivers is my wish is they just pay attention. What is up with the illegal tinted windows to. All in all city park is a patriotic icon. Its is beautiful.

Pretty big and nice park they have events here, music and other kinds of events Plus basketball courts, very nice park overall.

This park is literally not even a park no more. Its more like a place for teenagers to hang out and jump on and off the childrens play area. The park is dirty and littered all the time. Its crazy. And its not like anything has changed much there since I myself was a child. The only thing they did was take out the castle that smelled like urine...

Ive been going to this park since I was a child, 20+ years or So! I remember sledding down the hills and And the smelly castle on the playground. Nice little piece of outdoors smack dab in the middle of city. Great place, if even just for the pure nostalgia alone

I grew up in City Park. Was born in Reading and lived on Franklin street so I can honestly say I spent a lot of time there.

Nice park but no picnic tables or convient bathrooms for children to use you have to leave if kids have to go to restroom

City Park is a nice place to walk through. If youre into horticulture there is a tropical nursery. There are also maple trees, sycamores maples, and oak trees. They also planted a ring of cherry blossom trees that look amazing in the Spring. Not to mention the purple canna lillies that produce red flowers. There is a fully functional sound stage in the park and occassional concerts. There is a pond stocked with koi and turtles, and home to three families of ducks. If youre looking for a place to shoot hoops. There are about ten courts there. In the summer, the Blacktop league games are in full effect. If you prefer tennis, there are 2 courts. For the 9 and under, there is a playground with rubberized flooring.

Nice but needs to be clean. People just dont care about cleaning up after themselves!
