Very nice trail - some elevation change and one easy water crossing. Lovely view along the top. I really enjoy loop trails and I would repeat this one often.

Went for a morning run on this trail. It’s a good single-track trail. Steep in a few areas, and really rocky in others, but for the most part a great getaway. Very pretty. The trail continues into another and could keep going if a longer hike or jog is desired.Posted, no bikes or motor vehicle allowed.I am from Mid South Dakota and hadn’t been out to Rapid Before, it was easy to find and a great place to go out.

Nice hike in the trees on the flume trail for most of it. I love loop trails and this being so close to Rapid its great. Mountain bike would also do well on this one.

We took the flume trail, #50 from the parking lot. Very nice trail especially when we got up higher. I only saw the flume name, not sure why it wasnt the coon hollow trail that we were on. The map at the trailhead was kind of hard to make out, not very detailed. We followed the trail for about two miles, crossed a dirty road started up the other side of road, again on #50, not too far later, we came across another sign with an easier to read map and info about who made the trail from Ellsworth AFB. We turned around at this point because it was not going to be the loop we expected. What I liked about the trail was it wasnt really one that went up and down and up and down, pretty much when we got near the top of the mountain, the trail was fairly wide and kept at the same altitude. When we headed back, when we got back to the road we took another trail which looked to be for bikers which ended up putting us above the #50 trail about 3.5 miles into the hike, using the phone which was tracking our progress, we went down the hill to join the #50 trail and headed back to the coon hollow trailhead. About 5 miles total in about 2 hrs.
