Great time and place for the kids! Exciting place for birthdays partys for the kids too! Fantastic help from the staff saving the moment with bowls for ice cream when we accidentally ran out for everyone. Definitely going back again! The mirror maze is a real mind bending experience too
Our 10 year old declared this the highlight of our vacation. The rest of us were terribly underwhelmed. There is no air conditioning--except in the movie tent--which was only about 7 degrees cooler. The building itself is like a barn that has been converted--it feels 30 plus years old. Beware if you have certain nut allergies! The small fossil dig area is covered in ground nut pecan shells--they do have a sign posted in the area. They say there are a certain number of dinosaurs on display but about 1/4 of those are just the heads of dinosaurs. It was nice that they had several of the small (dog size) dinosaurs because those often get overlooked. The staff was very nice. The video in the movie tent was something pretty ordinary that youd see on TV. The museum had no special display regarding those dinosaurs which had been found in the area or the state. The signs were very scientific and not child-friendly. Mini golf course was closed as of June 29, 2020 but they were nice enough to give a discount since it was closed. The Mirror Maze was fun and very cool. But I dont think I could justify the cost. None of the staff was wearing masks.
The main lobby and the museum was very clean. The bathrooms however were not very clean. Toilets were like clogged and Toilet paper all over the floor. The museum itself wasnt that bad. A little too dark so i couldnt really read everything. Everything inside wasnt all about dinosaurs which made me a little sad. But my 5 years old and i really enjoyed yourself. They also have a not to maze which was very fun.
The exhibit was very well done worth the stop if you have time.
Are you kidding me!!! Cost too much for what it was. Not even real bones. Building was in poor condition. The hand rails were very unsafe. My Grandson tripped on the posts sticking out and hit his head. Cut his head and had quite a head cut and bleed. And we were asked to clean up the blood ourselves on the wood floor with wet wipes. (Not the young ticket girls fault.) Also the tour guide was rude and we didnt know there was a tour. Will not be coming back!!!
Even with the discounted group tickets this place was a let down. It was supposed to be the highlight of our trip. While it was memorable it wasn’t in a good way. It’s small and in poor condition. The stuff is crammed together and there’s only a small plaque for information. The mini golf is smaller than most backyards. It was hard to keep toddlers and autistic children entertained here.
Amazingly real life replicas! The kids loved the mirror maze and went through it several times. They also loved the miniature golf and the 2 year old loved the fossil digging.
I was uncertain at first however after speaking with Fred over the phone about our visit and my concerns about the amenities the website stated and what our families experienced.I am very impressed with the attentiveness to our satisfaction and what he offered to amend any upset. To anyone who saw my previous review I apologize.I am sincerely satisfied with the staff and how they wish to have all customers enjoy their private business even during the highly limited market conditions during our pandemic. Thank you Dinosaur museumFred & staff for providing your best experience possible for all including veterans and their families.I hope we get to return again and see more of your wonderous state.
Museum was not overly large. They do have some additional things to keep the kids happy that are included, mirror maze and mini golf. Movie theater was showing some very nice real life animation of dinosaurs and how they looked and behaved.
This was a lot of fun. The detail and information on the dinosaurs was interesting. The building is cool and the mirror maze was really a trip. Loved it.
Pretty cool. Took a lot of really good pictures
All the dinosaurs are life sized and the mirror made is so fun!!!! There is also more on human history
We ended up loving this little stop. Interesting dinosaur displays. We had a BLAST in the unexpected mirror maze which we went through a ton of times. There was a gift shop, free parking, many photo opportunities. And of course, as there should be in every dinosaur museum, there was putt putt golf.
Loved all the replicas and the egg display!
Not as interactive as I was hoping, but definetly had a good amount of exhibits and they were all interesting. Liked the Mirror Maze and Mini Golf. Lots of awesome stuff in the gift shop.
Exhibits were neat. However lighting was poor for reading the signage for each exhibit, and not in order of time line in which they lived. The kids loved the exhibits and the mirror maze.
I fell in love with all the history in the museum.
Just so interesting to see how Gods creations are so different get a dinosaur thats 8 to 10 inches tall and then the next one is 40 to 50 ft wow!
Great for the little ones. Took our grandchildren, they absolutely loved it.
Great place nice people little bit of everything for the kids to do it has a mirror maze putt putt golf a multitude of life-like sculptures of dinosaurs and a little dinosaur movie area overall great place
It is a very fun place for adults and children. We learned a lot while having fun. My kids really enjoyed the mini mirror maze.
Has great potential. Not really for young kids (0-3yrs old) lots of interesting info though! I wish it had more interactive activities for kids. The mini golf was under construction while we were there.
My little boys loved it, 4 and 9. My older two,11 & 13, not as much. Would be more worth it if the mini golf was open also. It was close when we were there.
I had read mixed reviews and didnt intend to stop here but my kids saw the T-Rex outside and begged to go. It was okay but I would not go back or recommend unless you have time to kill. The whole place felt like a tourist trap - they bought a barn and some dino replicas and then threw it together, adding in some other random things like mini golf (which is currently closed) and the mirror maze. They claim to have 50 life sized dinosaurs but more than half are just the heads, which was disappointing. There were a couple replicas there that you dont find in other places, like the saber toothed tiger and the giant short nosed bear, which were cool . My husband enjoyed reading the signs but my kids breezed right through and we were done in less than 30 minutes. Not worth it for what we paid. Also, the mirror maze was shorter than expected and underwhelmed me.
My son absolutely loved this. Lots of great information for each dinosaur. Miniature golf was closed when we visited so they discounted the entry fee.
If you and your kids love dinosaurs. U need to explore here. Really gives you a new prospective on them
Small place, but it was cool! My son loved it. Be careful taking smaller kids into the mirror maze though.
Fun place. They also have a mirror maze and 9 hole mini golf at the end.
The dinosaur museum is I would think its a great place to take kids ( wish we dont have. ) But for us the winner at this location was the mirror maze and exceptional representation of a House of mirrors. Not like the old county Fair house of mirrors but really very very good.
My 6 year old son really enjoyed this place.
Nice little simple museum. Good for younger kids.
Fun place to go with the dinosaur lover in your life! Make it an early evening stop, since they are open a little later then other places.
Not really worth the money. But was nice to walk around. Very small and short. The mirror maze was the best part. Great for little kids to see. Small rundown putt-putt golf area.
Love this place first time there will plan going back and send people there
Right next to the Reptile Gardens is this small museum that has plenty to offer and see for the price. Including put put (nothing special) and mirror maze. If kids like to look for bones they can do that too. If you have a nut allergy you may want to stay away as the sand is not sand but rather crushed up nuts. The gift shop doesnt have much to offer at this point. The staff was very friendly.
To be honest I was underwhelmed. I expected some real dinosaur fossils. Its an unguided walk through a big barn structure. The mirror maze was neat...but beware the sign say $400 for each panel you break.
Definitely recomend. Its fun for pretty much everyone. The statues are really well done and lifelike. Theyve also got a mirror maze thats pretty fun. Mini golf was a favorite of the kids and the gift shop was reasonable. If your in the area it doesnt take all day and isnt crazy expensive. Definitely worth it for the kids
Kids had fun remodeling so we did not get to do mini golf.
Dont waste your money if you have small kids. Thought it would be fun for a 5 and 3 year old but just fossils are not enough to keep them entertained. Older kids would have more fun. The movie theater is a tent inside the facility playing an out dated informational movie. Mini golf course is pathetic. Not worth the money.
My 4 yr old LOVED it, and my 10 yr old was completely content eith the Mirror Maze 5 times and the bone excavating
It was just amazing and it even had a mirror maze!! It has lots of information on Dinos and overall its just an awesome place.10/10
My kiddos LOVE the dino museum. And now if youre local, your admission fee gets you a season pass at no addional cost.
We were in SD to see the sights. Just about everything was closed, so we were excited to see the dinosaur museum had a big sign in front that said NOW OPEN until we got to the door that had a small piece of paper on it that said closed for the season. It was an impromptu visit while we were driving, otherwise we would have called.EDIT: Thanks for your reply
Nice visit, lots of extra fun stuff included in admission.
I expected more life size dinosaurs still not bad the mirror maze was fun
Me and my kids got to see so many awesome dinosaur replicas.
Its okay. Good for a stop to get out and stretch.
This is real nice,Museum to take whole family to
It should say life sized heads of the Diasours but it was ok kids would probably like it.
Its not an actual museum, its just fake life like replicas, mostly just a tourist trap
Fun and informative place to visit. Affordable rates for entry.
Interesting to visit but not a lot to see. The best one was the mirror maze.
We had a great time looking at all the dinosaurs!
Kids loved the museum and the movie was great!
Gave us a discount due to mini golf not in play. Cool museum
I love it because I seen dinosaurs and went in the mirror maze
Sooo cool!!! Great for all ages!! Even had an awesome Mirror Maze
They also have a mirror maze and mini golf.
A very thorough museum. Highly recommended.
Has a few different things to do. The life-size replicas are incredible with great info. A movie about dinosaurs runs, the mirror maze is fun with the kids. The staff was so pleasant. Entrance fee lower than expected. Mini golf is a great way to end the visit. It will be even better next year after they expand the mini golf.
Cute, more for younger kids tho.
Its ok. The surprise is was the mini golf in the end.
Kids loved it! They love dinosaurs!
They have some cool dinosaurs and the kids enjoyed it. Mini golf course is in terrible shape and it is where we spent 70% of our time. Mirror maze was cool but took 2 min to get through. Would not recommend, but the kids both said they enjoyed it.
A little over priced for what it was. But, 4 year old liked it a lot.
My boys love the dinosaur museum
My kids loved the mirror maze .
Love dinosaur really neat stuff love the mirror room you got to try it
Pretty sweet place -
The museum is much smaller than I expected and the mini golf, the fossil dig and the movie theater were all closed. They do not tell you this before you buy tickets. You also are not offered a receipt for the ticket purchase. After leaving, I checked the website and you click on a separate page that tells you that the fossil dig and movie is closed and it states that mini golf will be reopened on June 1st, which is not accurate. I found this place in a travel magazine so I was unaware of the closures which should be told or posted before you waste your money and your time.
Online said they were open today, but alas, they are closed for the season. Thankfully the School of mines has a free museum open today (my toddler was very excited to see dinosaurs!). We are looking forward to checking it out in the spring though!
Sooo much fun! For kids AND adults!!!
My kids love it and itll be better when the mni golf opens
Slightly less exciting than the outside would suggest. Basically just life sized models of dinosaurs which is cool but not like skeletons or anything.
We went as a large group, so only $6 a person to get in at the group rate. The exhibits were great to look at, easy to read for people. Also included a round of mini golf and a mirror maze that the kids loved. A lot of bang for the buck I think.
First time n wont bee the lastNice place 2 take the rugrats
It was fun! The mirror maze was amazing!
The facility is not temperature controlled so it was very chilly when we went. There is definitely room to improve at this museum but some of the dinosaurs were very cool. There is a large t-rex skeleton display which was the focus of the exhibit. The mirror maze was probably our favorite part. We went with kids ages 8, 7, and 3. There is a realistic educational movie that was also kind of entertaining. The kids enjoyed the small fossil dig but the lighting was poor. It was too cold for us to play putt putt since it was outdoors. Not bad but not great.
Very small inside but they do have a lot to see. It took us about 15 minutes to see the dinosaurs I think my girls enjoyed the mirror maze a lot more.
This place is the bomb! An annual tradition for me and my family. My niece loves the mirror maze, my nephew loves the dinosaurs and we all love the mini golf. The staff is always wonderful and I cant imagine a year without the Dinosaur Museum!
Fun and informational!
Pretty speedy for what you get.
Very fun place fairly new so still needs work like heat when it is cold out but me my mom and kids had a great time the mirror maze was awesome
I loved dinosaur
Great example and kids loved it
A little expensive for what you get. It is right next door to Reptile Gardens and it seems like its receiving enthusiastic visitors that have great expectations then this museum doesnt really deliver. You can go to a library and get more information than you can get there. There is a worn out mini golf course that is part of the museum. They say they are going to redo it in 2020 but that didnt help us.
The mirror maze was fun and they had a mini fossil dig at the end for kids. The rest of it, I was really underwhelmed. We were done with the whole thing in 20 minutes. We paid 38.00 for 2 adults and 2 children. Wouldnt go again.
What a great place to see. Lot of things to do as well. Great place for all ages, and price is not bad at all considering you see dinosaurs, mirror maze, putt putt golf, a small theater. Great place and Friendly people.
Right next door to Reptile Gardens, nothing major but just a cute little place that has huge dinosaurs. They have a mirror maze and mini golf. Signs to tell about the different dinosaurs. Just want to do something small and simple this is def worth the trip and visit. My son loves dinosaurs and was so entranced by how big some of the dinosaurs where. If we ever make it back out we will go back. For souviners they do have some. But most are the generic can almost buy them anywhere. Loved this place
Neat stuff. Watch the movie.
Never go to this place. It has a bunch of fake looking dinosaur replicas and only 1 real bone! That does not classify as a museum! The movie is outdated, there is a putt putt corse there for some reason, and cost us 20 bucks for a 30 min tour! If you want good stuff, go to the Black hills institute, or the reptile gardens right next to this lame excuse for a museum!
Interesting facts on dinosaurs. I wish I had time to read them but my kids were more interested in the mirror maze and mini golf.
Love it...
Every display is plastic and aimed at young children. Save your money for the reptile center next door or a number of natural history museums around
Very interesting and informative. Good for the kids too.
Meh. needs a little renovating
It was so cool to see all the artifacts. My kid was blown away, and.loved every second!
