Great place to host an event. staff very friendly and helpful

A beautiful and well organized institution with exhibit spaces for art that celebrates South Dakota and beyond. The exhibits are well curated. My two recent visits saw exhibitions focused on South Dakota artists. This is such an important place, as it highlights and makes accessible the talent and creativity in the state. It is also a community space. In December 2018, I saw a well attended holiday concert around lunchtime. The event space seems suitable to any use.The permanent exhibit of the Cyclorama mural documents US and regional histories. Completed in 1975, it is just as impactful today, and an incredible piece of history. Take some time to really look at each section for the depth that’s there.There is also a children’s area with art themed activities. It gives parents the chance to give your child a way to see the adult exhibit and then go to their own space if and when needed.The gift shop has many unique pieces by local artists. The handmade soaps by Black Crow Soaps never disappoint. There are also artist created greeting cards and photos of South Dakota landscapes and objects.All around a great museum

Really nice art center. It was a bit tough finding parking for our vehicle but other than that our visit was a positive experience. Love the art work.

Holiday art market is fun and a great kickoff to the holidays. Goods by local artists and artisans. Nice venue out of the weather.

The Dahl Arts Center was the perfect location for the Great American Book Festival and related events. The building is perfectly suited for an arts/culture related event and fits our theme to a T. The facility is well maintained and the layout offers a variety of configurations for multiple uses including private meeting spaces. But above and beyond all that, the staff is nothing short of amazing! Having hosted literary events around the country for over a decade I can say that the Dahl Arts Center has, by far, the most delightful people who always go above and beyond. And they do so with a smile and a kind word. We are so very grateful to the Dahl for all that they do. Weve hosted our events with them two years in a row now and cant imaging a place more suited for our Writers Conference and related events. Also a special shout-out to event coordinator, Caitlin, who is the glue that helps hold everything together. Shes a Rock Star!

Beautiful place with some amazing exhibits! They also have live music there which gives you a chance to check out the galleries too! Staff was friendly and welcoming with good facilities.

The Dahl is always a good choice. Displays include local artists and are well spaced to allow appreciation of the items on display. Includes a fun and interactive play area for the kids (lots of Legos) plus a nice gift shop.

Great wedding venue!

I liked it. The art center isnt huge but had a great variety. One can easily see everything in an hour then grab a quick bite nearby.

Lets start with the artwork: world class both conceptually and in presentation. Holiday and special events here are great for the whole family. Dont miss their at events for kids and youth. You can even throw an art themed birthday party here. Ive been renting an annual event space with the Dahl for almost 7 years and its always been a big hit. Very professional staff, versatile space with tall ceilings and a modern feel. The catering companies enjoy it as well since it has a flexible layout. The Dahl is one of Rapid Citys great attractions. I highly recommend a visit.

I recommend everyone go see this art gallery! Gorgeous art! They have a breath taking mural of American history in one of the rooms made by one person in the 70s that is a must see!!!

My kids 3 & 6, fell in love with the art center!! I love the different creative opportunities they offer. My son was really in to the instruments and my daughter enjoyed creating a masterpiece. Thank you!

Love the Dahl, true passion for art for those that work and volunteer there. Always enjoy the exhibits, kids discovery area, Saturday art adventures! Looking into taking a few classes in the future

A great place to go for visual and performing arts. Three galleries, an event center for concerts, weddings etc, and an education area with three classrooms and a performance space which servers the Emerging Artists program.

The exhibits are pretty nice, though it feels a bit sparse. This is among the stops for the Trolley and it takes well under an hour to go through with a child. If youre alone or with appreciative adults, you can easily spend a full hour here taking in all of the individual pieces. There is a childrens room which is a great place for kids to express themselves and help kill time if youre waiting on the trolley.

Great little kids section. Spent a hour in there. The rest of the galleries are small but nice. A quick and free stop, but highly enjoyable. Friendly staff too.

I love their beautiful art, their wonderful kids center, and their wonderful center! There is always something fun going on there and I really enjoy going! They even involve older students near the end of the school year with a student showcase!

Great fun with the little one decorating gingerbread houses, then leisurely browsing the gallery of terrific works. Friendly helpful staff and volunteers!

Must see Arts Center in Rapid City. Everyone there is friendly and awesome. Lost of different events to go to and multiple changing Art Galleries to go see.Great place for established local artists, but also for emerging artists. Friday night emerging artist music performances are a must see.Also the gift shop full of unique pieces from local artists.

We are so happy to have this fun indoor play area! Its so nice have options when the weather isnt great.

Weve gone several times. Theres some neat things, but most of it looks like a middle school art class. The only really cool events there are paid, and they want a fortune for what you get.

Wonderful local arts venue. Well worth the time you will spend looking at artwork by local artisans, watching a musical or theatrical performance.

I have been renting the large room at the Dahl for many years. Our Rock School (kids band program) has a concert every 4 months and the Dahl has been our go to spot. The staff is great and the venue is perfect for our event.

Beautiful art center. Attended a wedding and reception at this location. The staff did a very good job of keeping the wedding party happy and the building itself was a perfect location to host both events.

I have visited the Dahl numerous times over the past several months. The exhibits and events taking place at the Center are always interesting and educational, however there are some issues with other areas of the Dahl operations that unfortunately make for lower than a stellar rating. For example, the Dahl has a gift shop showcasing work of local artists, but the gift shop is rarely staffed and almost never promoted. That results in rather poor public interest in this space and what it has to offer. In addition, the management staff in charge of this space is frequently changing, which exacerbates already poor performance of the gift shop. Last but not least, Dahl is located a bit off the beaten path frequented by visitors to our city, and that, coupled with poor efforts at promoting the Dahl in tour guide brochures, results in low numbers of seasonal visitors. This space could be a hub of artistic activity in town if only it was promoted and staffed better.

This is a fantastic community arts center. They put on amazing programs, and their staff is incredible!

We had our wedding reception here. Very courteous staff that were willing to go the extra mile to make our reception perfect!
