Awesome trails, and a really nice nature play area my 3 boys love to play at. The Troll Stroll is another big hit. We have seen lots of deer while walking the trails here.
Beautiful park year-round. Hiking trails are great and connect to the MST so you can use it as either a starting or an ending point for a longer hike. Great to just enjoy nature and enjoy a nice day outdoors.
Very open. Good for hiking with kids. There were adorable little fairy houses and beautiful natural structures.
A great park with some nice nature trails and kids love the Fairy Trail. Even better in the fall.
Relaxing walk/hike, especially during fall when leaves are falling in different colors.
This park has very family friendly trails with good variety: deep woods, a pond, and meadows. It connects directly with the Mountains to Sea Trail for longer hikes around Falls Lake. Today was good for butterflies.
Gorgeous area, secluded from the city life but practically right next door. Took me about 20 minutes to get to. Variety of trails, not too difficult and I am out of shape due to Covid.
This nature preserve is very well thought out and amazing all around!
This is a beautiful park for hiking or a picnic plus an excellent educational center.
Mystical faeries and fields of wheat from Windows XP!
Great little park in north Raleigh. Relax and take a stroll. The trails are easy for all ages. No technical trails here, though one of the trails connects to the larger Mountains-to-Sea Trail that stretches across the state of North Carolina. If you want to revisit memories of your childhood, there is a secret spot marked by a small gnome statue that leads underneath a tree’s branches. The staff were friendly and helpful in informing me of events and points about the park.Don’t forget to spot “Earl the Burl” on the trail.
Reeeeeally good place to have a walk in the nature! I loved it!
There are some hiking trails. Havent yet visited inside the building.
Beautiful park. Well kept and clean throughout the entire preserve. Variety of short trails, that can loop into an approx 2 mile trail. Variety of woods and meadow and also a pond. Visitor center has lots of things for children. They have a rescued snake and turtle also. Whilst walking we saw butterflies and a snake. Great place for kids.
Trails are great. Easy hike but still interesting for 1-2 hours. Staff is great.
This was a beautiful park with a pond, a forest and a great kids playground and forest area to explore in! Hikes were easy and short great for a pick me up on an a fall afternoon!
Gorgeous nature place tucked away in Raleigh. Nice hiking trails, the play area is fun and allows imagination to run wild. The staff is very educated and love helping kids learn. Couldnt say enough about this gem !
Beautiful nature preserve! Primarily in shade and very hilly
Clearly marked trails with connector to the Mountain to Sea trail and Falls Lake trails. We didnt take advantage of the trail guides, but areas of learning are clearly marked on the trails. Dogs required to be on leash.
Took a small walk at dusk. Very pretty area if a little small. Couldnt explore it all. We will definitely be back.
Great place to go for a quick hike.
Fun nature location with friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of trails and play areas for kids. Nature center offers education on local fauna and flora.
Wide open and nice trails

Lovely place to hike. Easy trails with pretty views, including those of the pond and the hidden rocks.
Park is well maintained. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. This park is a great resource to the community.
What a gem! The trail connects to the mountain to sea trail so I like to start at the dam toward Raven Rock and add Wilkerson loop to get some more miles. Great in the snow!
Love this place! A little nature haven in the big city.
Nature. Silence. Streams. Its awesome and you can find a hike for any fitness level.
So so nice! The trails were so much fun for our family! Our daughter enjoyed making a craft in the nature center and seeing the corn snake.
This is a great place to hike! Since I grew up down the road, this has been my go to hiking spot for a long time.
Has great trails
Excellent for learning about some local history, ecology, and geology. There are backpack kits kids can sign out for hikes. There are also several outdoor playground kits you can sign out. Some include tarps to build your own forts. The welcome center has lots of kid friendly books and puppets.
Great place to explore on a Sunday afternoon. We parked here and did a day-hike on a portion of the Mountains to Sea trail. Not too busy, immaculately clean restrooms. Would be a great place for a picnic. We didnt get a chance to look at any of the buildings or exhibits, but I imagine they are wonderful as well. This was a gem to find and we will definitely be back.
Love this park! I also have an electric car so the 2 free charging stations are nice.
We love this place! My kids could play here for hours and love discovering Gods creation there. The museum is great and the people who work here are very helpful.
This is a great place to bring kids to teach them about the great out doors!!! The classes the have are worth every penny and the free backpacks to check out and the explorer guides make the time outside so much more fun. We love to come here!
This park has a short two mile loop, is nicely maintained, and conveniently connects to the MST.
Saw two box turtles, deer, and lots of interesting birds. A nice little park that is not too crowded. Bonus: Electric car charger!
Very quiet. There is a giant pond (although wouldnt recommend swimming in it ) open areas. Peaceful and beautiful
This place was an amazing spot for a crisp Fall day. Just turn your phone off and unwind in nature.
We regularly bring our toddler to the nature programs, they are the best weve been to from any of the local parks. Great mix of play, outdoor time and education, the kids always have a great time. Beautiful, peaceful grounds. Fun nature kits you can check out from the office anytime are also great for an easy, free fun day with the kids.
Great place to take the kids and let them experience nature. The education center staff is very nice and have cool activities for the family.
Pretty trails. Well maintained
Nature is precious and this place gives everyone a chance to experience so much. Nice walking trails, a expansive meadow and a pond. Picnic areas and a very cool rock outcrop in the woods make this a really cool place!
Took my 4yr old on a trail retreat class for preschoolers. She loved it. Nature at its best!
Our children took a Foxes and Coyotes course for homeschooling at this beautiful nature preserve park. Our family has so much fun! The staff was very nice.

The helpful staff was warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The nature park is comfortable, serene, and accessible ... with beautiful grass paths.
Heady place...
Pretty good walk although you can easily get lost in the backwoods.
This is an excellent nature learning center. It has trails that are very relaxing.
Well kept and beautiful place to get away from the fast pace life. Great place to hike and relax.
Great place to park for a hike on the mountain to sea trail at falls lake.
Beatiful area. Helpful staff members.
Great scenery, nice trails.
NOTE: Hours vary by season, generally they close down at dusk.Beautiful, quiet, serene park, great place to pause enjoy nature.
Very quiet and varied places to walk, including into lovely woods or an open field next to a small lake.
Love the natural play area and the walking trail. We also enjoyed homeschool field trips here.
Beautiful place to walk, exercise, and just enjoy the outdoors. Has electric car plug-in.
Some nice easy hikes here, especially good if you are bringing along kids. Connects up with the Lake Shore (& Mountains to Sea) Trail.
This was an ideal hike so close to the Raleigh area. The main trail in the park is a couple miles but it connects to the Mountains to Sea trail so you can easily extend the day for a longer, more difficult hike up to the lake.
Nice modern buildings, staff onsite to help. Several trails mapped with restrooms.
We had a wonderful afternoon! It was beautiful and clean.
Really cool Nature Preserve. Visited the Raleigh of amateur astronomers Club.
Fabulous location for education, nature play, and outdoor exploration.
Hands on nature exploration, fun hikes, beautiful park, staff fantastic w kids.
Nice small nature park which connects to the larger Falls Lake Park and the Mountain-To-Sea Trail. The park hours are horrible though, they do not open until 10AM and closed on Mondays
