Fun place to visit with kids, with a group, or by yourself. Bring a picnic and you can sit on the open grass which overlooks the water and train tracks, or do the scavenger hunt to find all the animals and items. Flowers are beautifully set up with different themes.

This garden is outstanding for the variety of topiarys. All kinds of animals and even some people. Lots of beautiful flowers are interspersed around the topiary figures. If you want to see a special place, the Green Animals Topiary Garden is a treat,

Wow! So many topiaries as well as flowers, shrubs, vines, fruits and veggies, trees, roses... unbelievable gardens! Way better than expected and several quiet spots to have a picnic which I regret we did not do (next time!) Loved the free-roaming turkeys as well. You gotta go - grab lunch and a blanket beforehand.

Good but small. Still worth a pit stop if you have the right pass/ admission. Want to make it special? Bring a picnic or covert bottle of wine as the great lawn is GORG around sunset.

This is one of my favorite places to see when I visit Rhode Island. The gardens are meticulously maintained, the variety of plants and flowers is incredible, and the most magnificent Copper Beech I’ve ever seen is on the property. While I haven’t toured the house on site, the gardens are where it’s at for me. Highly recommend!

While touring this enchanting house and gardens, one feels the love a father had for his children. I am so grateful we selected this sight as one of our visits on the Newport Mansions’ Tour. The staff was very welcoming and informative.

I would definitely recommend! If you have plans to visit the mansions this garden stands out to be a complete different flavor! I would suggest to keep it in second day of the itinerary so that you get a change of taste. Also inside the house there is remarkable collection of dolls and doll house and old age toys. Some of my pics here shows inside the doll house which you wont believe unless you see them in person!

The tour of the house takes about 15 minutes and the garden takes about 20 minutes. The ticket office sells water and cold drinks. Interesting to see the giraffe, bear and other animals as topiary. Well worth visiting.

Amazing gardens and trees. The topiaries are extremely well.done and considering the age of the plants, surprised that it is still all.there. Nice, well manicured grounds, interesting plantings. Did the house tour too but was disappointed that you only see the first floor. Tour guides were very pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable. Even my two boys (20 & 17) found it interesting. Loved the Copper Beech tree!

This was an okay experience for me. The ticket were $20 but I personally felt that they should be free becuase the park was state owned. The park wasnt that big at only, they used the greenery to create sculptures of animals which is why the park has all the buzz. The house in the park was owned by the family who started the park before it was donated to the state. My wife seemed to have liked it but I didnt. Anyway you make like it as well.

This is located away from all the Newport Mansions and is part of Mansions maintained by Preservation Society of Newport. It had lot of topiaries in the shape of various animals. There is a house as well to check for.

Review №54

Though probably not to the fault of the workers (theyve had some bad weather), you can tell this place used to be a lot more majestic than it currently is. There are some neat topiaries, but also a good amount you have to imagine because of the damage. The staff are all extremely friendly, and we had a good time walking through the grounds. Good place to spend about half an hour.

Ma
Review №56

This place is pretty cool and is part of the Newport Preservation Society Mansions. However keep in mind, this is nowhere near Bellevue Ave and the rest of the Newport Mansions and is about 30 minutes outside Newport on a long winding desolate road in Portsmouth. The house that sits on the property is not the main focal point of this tour since its pretty much an ordinary large farmhouse. The grounds it sits on are massive and overlook an bay inlet on top of a hill. The gardens in this place are unreal and contain not only topiary shaped figures but there are tons of plants, flowers and even a vegetable and fruit garden. The place is manicured to perfection and well taken care of. This is a decent place out of any of the mansions to take kids, however be prepared for the hike out of town to visit this place, about 15-20 miles away from downtown Newport.

While not as grand as the other Newport mansions I would say this is the most relaxing of them. The other mansions dont have gardens nearly as nice as these. You also dont have to deal with Newport traffic which is nice since its outside of town in a more rural, peaceful setting. It was nice just to walk around and roam the grounds. The mansion was nice too and it wasnt so huge as to be overwhelming. I highly recommend coming here! The staff was REALLY nice and I had great conversations with them

Review №95

Not overly impressed. I was here 15 years ago and the gardens were superb. Not enough lights on in the house so it was hard to see the dollhouses. The miniatures and dioramas that were in lighted cases couldnt be appreciated because the lights in the cases were not turned on and the main lights in the room were off. Very disappointed on this trip.

Nice little topiary garden in Portsmouth, RI. It looked beautiful in May when we visited it. Exhibit of old toys and other artifacts in the house is very nice too. You can visit it for free if you are a member of Newport Mansions Preservation Society.
