Nice small museum with a great amount of information about the local history. This also services the Lightship Portsmouth, and the nearby hog Island Lens display. Great place to take kids for a fun, educational experience. They also have a lot of special events. We happened to arrive one evening when they had an open house.
A lot of history. Great for my new bride to learn about part of my history and very informative for me. Would love to go again.
Well setup. Very informative. The gentleman working was very nice
Now, I am not in the Navy. No ties to Virginia. So I thought it was boring. However, some of the pictures and stories are pretty fascinating. I am just not a museum kind of girl. The Navy friends I have loved going here and got in for free since they were in the military. I had to pay though! I guess it is a nice place to visit if you are looking for something to do. Very cheap to get in to also.
Parking garage is off Water St (behind city jail) then its just a block away. It holds the attention span of a 2 yr old for about 15- 20min...perfect place to go if he/she likes boats/planes/space vehicles.
Recently updated. Nice facility. Doesnt take long to go through it.
Nice all the way around..
The mighty ships. Some in repair open air beautiful day

Cool walking tour of Olde Town Portsmouth.
This is a pokemon habitat. So for those playing. Other than. It has abit of enrichment to history. Good stop to look on. But do not reccomend parking, or you will be towed.
