This place is amazing. Easy quick hike, great for relaxing walk through the woods. River is beautiful, air is fresh, and there is a small waterfall. Totally worth a visit. It takes around 2 - 3 hours if you take your time exploring, but I bet you can get it done in less than 2 if you just go point A-B and back.
The perfect Sunday afternoon hike in 2020 - clearly marked trails with lots of room for social distancing. The trails are mostly shaded and often follow above the beautiful milky river. You can hear birds singing in the trees, too! There are a few opportunities to make your way down to the river for some picturesque views (see photo ️). Nothing crazy elevation gain-wise, but there are a few stretches that make you work for them! Overall a pleasant, easy hike. Hope to be back soon!
Moderately maintained multi use trail (walking and mountain biking) with some nice footbridges and river views. Multiple access points and a grand finale of some of the only river rapids in Greater Portland. You can daily social distance. Give it a try!
Just found this trail a couple of weeks ago and we cannot wait to do it again! The trail markers are a bit confusing, and we got a little bit lost getting back to our car, but other than that, it was a great easy hike. A lot to look at and soak in with a waterfall area which was quite nice. Bring your leashed dog & bring your kids. I have severe asthma and this was a good one even for me.*COVID-19 concerns - trail is a popular one and is not 6 feet wide. Please bring a mask and be kind to your passing neighbors!
Loved my hike here. It was so scenic along the river. Cant wait to hike along the river again next summer.
Nice walking trail. Easy to follow. Also good for biking. Busy place.
We just went to take some pictures and spend some time on the river bed. Amazing place hiding amidst the residential area. On our way back we lost our track in the trail and went along the river for quite some time. It was starting to get dark, when we realized that we are not going the right way. With the help of Google maps, we came out of the trail just in time and then it was totally dark. Thank God! Kindly install more sign for directions.
Should be labeled as a moderate trail but otherwise, its an amazing trail!! Beautiful water, beautiful views.
Easy to find and shaded hike along a river. There is a water fall and folks are also relaxing in the water.
Beautiful scenery and great hiking trails!
Gorgeous walk along the river.
Very nice nature walk in Portland. Not too difficult, nice little bridges over the wet areas. The trail isnt marked very well however and there are trails that go off in different directions so you have to pay attention to your surroundings (although there are visible nearby neighborhoods throughout the walk at this time of year). Id have rated it a 5 star if I hadnt kept getting lost!
Beautiful! Awesome little hike!
Nice walking trails
Beautiful preserve for an easy and enjoyable family hike. Dont miss the waterfall/rapids!
Very nice place to go for a walk and see water fall
Good hike! Amazing for scenery. As well as a swimming spot.
Beautiful place to relax
Beautiful! Dangerous... Do NOT go swimming here unless you are a very very very confident swimmer and are with someone. Dangerous even for the best swimmers. Still beautiful and peaceful to visit.
One of Portlands little known gems and a great place to get away for while!
Stunning views and way trails
Nice green space, a good walk
Nice walk through the woods along the river. Trails to go down to the water. The dam is along walk. Dogs allowed.
Access from Summit St to the Presumpscot Preserve section of the Portland Trail system. Great for walking, bird watching and bicycling. Leashed dogs are welcome. Consider parking around the corner on the side street for safety.
Amazing trail for walking dogs on voice control. Waterfall and rope swings
