Its so sad and desolate since pandemic hit. I can understand the fountain not running (even though the water drinking fountains are around town) however they dont even bother with lights at night..much less the pretty neon ones. At least the pigeons and skateboarders are enjoying the park. Hope to have better review next time

Great place to sit and eat or just relax and people watch. Located right next to tons of places to shop or restaurants to grab a bite to eat. The fountain makes it a good place to bring kids in the summer. The Blue/Red Max line and the Portland streetcar both have stops a block away so getting there via public transportation is super easy.

A pleasant stop in the center of downtown. The decision many years ago to build this space has paid nice dividends for locals and visitors alike. Sit for a minute and enjoy the fountain or cut through on your way about town. Its visual impact on the immediate area is significant.

Aside from city councils Nick fish threatening us for serving soup to old folks, the park is lovely. He used the words Draconian measures please do not vote for Ted wheeler. The two guys are why the rents are so impossible now, why tents are everywhere and why we have 17900 vacant luxury housing units instead of a normal Portland.

One of my favorite city parks. A great place to relax, wade in the shallow waters, watch a performance or gathering on the stage. At night there are lights on the roof/overhang that change and reflect on the water. Its a quick walk to the Max, Pioneer Square, Regal Fox Tower theater(for movies), Elephants Deli, Nordstroms...

Really enjoy coming here in the summer with the family. We can splash in the fountain, listen to some tunes, grab a snack from the kiosk, then stroll over to the library for story time for the kiddos. The oversized chess board is fun to let the kids play with. Definitely need to keep a close eye on your belongings here. Sometimes kids do get rowdy with the water splashing, which is to be expected.

Directors Park or more accurately Directors Concrete Slab is a popular downtown spot for folks who enjoy playing giant chess, an overflow for a popular Starbucks (Once you finish getting high in the bathroom, naturally), kids wanting to play in the fountain or adults just wanting an excuse to take their clothes off in public view. This and countless other opportunities for fun await in the shadow of Portlands tallest building (Dont get excited, simply Google Portland Oregon Skyline and you will understand).

I love that they have meals for homeless here, a huge chessboard and a decently maintained fountain. Its more the ppl going...picture white, middle class ppl who are irritated you brought your kids &/or friends around on a hot day. Usually this type also leaves trash around, so be sure to point out the easily accessible garbage and recycling containers to these folks.

This is a Portland spot that is infamous for its nighttime behavior, as muvh as it slick looking daytime features! It is to be said that during the day their isnt always alot happening here, sometimes even in the summertime, but for a piece of Portlandia you cant find anything quite as iconic, other than the famous Portland statue herself!

Great plaza during the daytime, but I’m so sick of being harassed by aggressive homeless people here every evening while they line up for food. I’ve been followed, lunged at, screamed at, had grown men say they’re going to steal my dog or walk ME on a leash. It’s out of control... avoid!

The park is beautiful, even if it is not what people traditionally think of as a park. It isnt grassy and sheltered by huge lovely trees like so many other parks in Portland, including the neighboring park blocks downtown. But it is a large area devoted to recreation. There is a board game library and the wonderful Teachers Fountain. There is a giant chess set as well. It is a nice place to hang out with your friends or kids at almost any time. The lights reflecting off the water of the fountain can also be quite romantic.
