I love this little park ....but unfortunately I cannot recommend it for anyone to visit. This is now of this date (12-31-19)...a giant homeless camp...complete with giant plies of garbage...which is falling out onto the Springwater trail.....there are needles.....rats.....and human waste....It has become the norm out this way.....Too bad the city cannot find a better solution....Seems like everybody loses ......people living in parks.....and no one else can use them....there isnt any where left in the city you can go to just sit and use the park without feeling like Im intruding on someones house.....
Beautiful place
If I was ever here it wasnt good enough that I remember. And with a name like that Id never go there on purpose.
Aptly named. Once upon a time it was a refuge for critters. Wild turtles, beavers, birds and such. Local kids could run around barefoot, unscathed. Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news folks but now the critters there are human gremlins who shoot meth and make garbage. For me, all the sweetness and charm ended in 2016 when a neighbor removed a hype needle from the foot of a turtle. Beggars Tick is now another unauthorized, toxic land-fill. Im ashamed for allowing it.
Nothing but tweekers
The place is great its just the dang homeless population that make it ugly and kinda scary
It used to be a nice wetland trail area, but like everything along the spring water trail...tweakers have taken over. I havent even tried going here in two or three years because of the homeless camps.
Beautiful place!
Lot of transients living in the area.
On a map this place is pretty sizely, but its just a short walking loop, not much for the human traffic.
Too bad its become a refuge for homeless litterbugs, but the place is aptly named! They seem to have no trouble finding tarps and other necessities but cant manage to use garbage bags. They surely also taint the groundwater. Why let them camp in a wildlife refuge of all places? They arent much different from the dregs who occupied Malheur.
Its a good wildlife refuge area, lots of birds and squirrels to see. Deer if you get there at the right time of the day to see them. Access Beggars Tick off the Springwater Trail Corridor and / or 111th and Foster next to the Pick n Pull Auto Wrecking Yard.
Its been really nice out there lately sing tao the campers are gone
It was cold but peace full
Nice and welcoming for the kids
If trash, abandoned vehicles and the potential for physical harm/violence is what you seek youve found the perfect place. I wont go in as it doesnt seem safe.
Sketchy and dirty. Garbage everywhere sadly. Pretty neat trails through trees and grass, but not the safest.
Was a hard go in this place
Awesome little trail for kids along the corridor!
Nice and serene
Should be calle homeless refugee
Unmanaged
Not the greatest reserve location.
A ton of abandoned vehicles, trash, and T.V. sets on the 111th Street side of this wildlife refuge.
Ticks
