Was clean, not too busy on a Friday at noon to three. The people walking respected social distancing and masked up, and there would have been room to social distance on our own. It was relaxing to sit in the breeze breathing in the trees exhales.
Love this precious space:my ZenHabitat, when I just need to Relax#Ryan Kraft
Old, mature park. Lots of old for trees providing lots of shade. To play areas for the kids. Tennis courts. There may be restrooms, but I didnt check that out. Nice park with on street parking.
Went to help my friend get back into tossing a frisbee. Enjoyed the park, down by the lower half, tossing the frisbees towards the metal poles for practice.
Parks hold a unique place in all of our lives. As kids, we play in them. We scrape our knees in them. We make friends in them. As adults we escape in them. We hang out with old friends in them. We walk our pets and excercise in them. Kennelworth Park has a wonderful blend of adults and kids while providing enough space for separation from each other. There are tall trees for shade and soft grass to relax on.
The trees were very accommodating
Really cute park. Much bigger than I thought it was. Double tennis court, small playground and lots of benches, shady spots, and pathways for walking.
The garden was lovely. Lots of area for kids and adults to roam...
Beautiful neighborhood park with great, tall, shade providing trees that are awesome to sit under on a nice day. If you mind a few people from planet Tries-too-hard showing off every once in a while (I was there last week and a dude was doing Capoera with his shirt off, by himself) its a wonderful place to sit and read a book or have a picnic!
Quaint medium sized parks with great spaces for play and picnics!
Nice park nice neighborhood lots of activities for be had
Many trees, squirrel, and birds. Green lawn. Fresh air!
Cute park and cute ppl abound
Great little hilly park
Lots of trails and lots of trees make you feel like youre in the forest. Several areas to play several things.
Nice pleasurable stroll after a late lunch kind of place. Clean, lots of families enjoying one of the first weekends of pleasant weather Pssst...The mosquitoes are already out and in force and madly famished.Reminds me of a smaller version of Laurelhurst Park (further north from Kenilworth Park) but without the water feature.
Lots of open areas for running around or kicking a soccer ball. The two kids areas are nice.
Good small park. Nothing really interesting)
Nice off leash area for dogs. Nice play structure for the kiddos. One bummer is that the park has started to be taken over by groups of homeless people. When bunches of them are gathered around the bathroom hanging out and leaving trash everywhere it makes the park not quite as appealing.
Fun playground for kids, great big trees, and a large hill for rolling or sledding (hopefully this year) down. Its well-kept, beautiful, and cute. This park matches the low-key SE vibe that surrounds it.
Paved walkway, tennis courts, and jungle gyms. No bathrooms.
Upon entering the park I was approached by its name sake, Kenilworth. I hound faced man dressed as a British butler. He warned of all manner of forbidding creature. I assured him I was prepared to slash and knaw for the riches that await within for my constitution was fortified with a silver Elven anlace which made me swift and a juniper buckler blessed at St. Johns Cathedral. His eyes were delighted by my blade, but appeared in shock at the site of my shield.I was thus granted entrance where I did encounter such beasts and more so. I did find riches and had become a lord. Unthinkable powers. Only I had not my true love whom I promised devotion and as my heart craved my dearest I neglected my armies and citizenship. A coupe was afoot.I t had been seven months by our own worlds calendar. I exited Kenilworth Park with less than I had entered with. True my fortune and armaments where gone but I had a good time and then went home to eat nachos.
This is a lovely park, and is much larger than it appears from Holgate! There are tennis courts, a raised patio where you can enjoy the sunset, playgrounds, and a hillside that is great for a picnic.
It is beautiful and open park with a nice off leash area. It is a nice place for a picnic, stroll, and has a play area for the family type.
Super cute and clean park
Excellent park! Convenient parking, if you need to drive there. Next to a school, so the traffic tends to be a little slower on the road. There’s two different playground areas, one gear more towards smaller children, which is on the Holgate side of the park. The other play structure is very big and is gear towards bigger kids. There’s also room for dogs to run around (pretty sure it’s an on-Leash park, but there’s always people with their dogs running around off leash... it’s away from the kids area). There’s a bathroom and a portable potty, which I assume is there for times when the full bathroom isn’t open, but I’ve never been there when it wasn’t open. There’s also tennis courts, lots of paths and is pretty hilly, lots of trees.Overall it’s a super nice park! We go fairly often, there are occasionally homeless people that hang out in one area. But we’ve never had any issues with them and they’ve all been nice.
Very pretty parkand nice neighbourhood. Clean
One of the most beautiful parks in the Portland Area. Huge Douglas Fir trees and a calm spacious presence that feels cathedral in nature. This used to be my neighborhood park and is still one of my favorites. A great park!!!
Beautiful park in SE Portland. Plenty of tables to eat a meal in the quiet and escape the road noise of PDX. Or watch the little ones play at the park. We host an Egg Hunt with our church the Saturday, a week before Easter. All are welcome. If the City of Portland and/or our local authorities, could assist our homeless population would be a 5-star park IMO.
Very bucolic and almost sanctuary like little park in the heart of south east Portland. Great place to walk the dog or take your kids. Im so happy to have this place in one of the best neighborhoods in Portland.
Its actually a good route to get outta town if you have to use it...
Solid pull-up bar. The bathrooms are open!
Beautiful place to relax in the sun, play in the shade, or try out some tennis. Lovely for walking, sitting, and generally relaxing with a lush background of fauna and flora. Highly recommend for those lazy afternoons with friends!
Very scenic park with decent tennis courts.
Never knew how big the park was driving by on Holgate. The baseball field needs work. There is a tennis court and lots of rooms for kids and dogs to run and play. There is a porta potty in need of cleaning.
Our local park. Great place to wander around with the dogs!
Great park
Beautiful park
Great park you take the kids or walk the dogs. tennis courts, picnic tables, quiet shady areas to read a book or do some yoga. There is a paved track around the park if you like to jog or take a walk. The scenery here is so peaceful and beautiful. There is also a restroom, although it could use a good cleaning, it still serves its purpose.
This park has great facilities such as a lot of green space, tennis courts, a playground and a walking path. There is also a school across the street.
Very pretty
This park is very peaceful. There is a path around the perimeter, a tennis court and a couple of separate areas for kids to play in. I walk around this park frequently, and plan to do so for many years to come.
Very nice
On one hand the park is nice because of the 3 play structures for the kids, but on the other hand, its kind of like, how shall I say... When it rains all the water pools into the center of the park which just so happens to be where the grass to sit is located. So the play areas r at the top of the park and then there are the grassy hills that slope down becoming a nasty muddy lake like area during the rain. Which goes to say that once it start to warm up then the mosquitoes will come. And unless Im mistaken... The West Nile virus still SUCKS. Also, unless they somehow fix the pooling mater, sooner or later the land will start to slide, which can be pretty dangerous.
Hugest is a understatement
Big beautiful trees and a great Hill for sledding when it snows
A stand of old evergreens offers shade, dappled light
1 of my favorite parks in Portland
Great, quiet park, nice walking path
One of the better parks in the area. While there is no off leash area, there are typically dogs off leash. Proximity to the school seems to reduce the number of crazies.
Nice and simple. A park in the city with seemingly little traffic making it a fairly quiet place.
This is a great local park to bring family and friends
Great park to have family gatherings. Kenilworth park has a little playground for children.
Great park in the neighborhood I grew up in
Beautiful and clean!
Medium amount of homeless, great walking path.
Nice and quiet
Big trees, 2 play structures, picnic tables, paved walking pathsOur whole family lives it here
This is a classic Portland park. Situated next to grout elementary, you have excellent swings on the western end and a whole other playstructure right across the street. Theres a ton of grass that actually tends to stay nice in the summer due to the parks sloping nature (and probably parks and rec) so Kenilworth makes for a great dog park. There are even paths around the whole thing for taking walks on. All around great, consistent park.
Lots of room, picnic tables, and things for kids to play on.
Nice quiet place in the midst of a busy part of SE. Couple of different playgrounds, off leash dog park area and cool trees. The dog area is not fenced off and can get a little muddy
Great little neighborhood park.
Maybe not the best in terms of safety, keep your kids in open places (out of that little valley spot with all of the trees, specifically) I have found drug needles there in the past. Just be careful
People playing beautiful music.
Very pretty mid sized city park. Room for dogs and dog watching, play structures, and some paths for running or walking around.
Its a nice park to bbq(if you bring your own bbq) and play at. Lots of open space to enjoy and hills for the kids to roll down if they enjoy that. Lots of wonderfully beautiful places to take pictures.
Great place for birthdays, reunions, even when it snows a great place for sledding. Great family environment for all ages..
This is one of our go to parks. It has a lot of nice things especially the valley and trails around it. The regulars are nice, as well as their dogs.
Loved the park!! Its a small park, but its a nice park that families can enjoy with kids, also couples or single can enjoy the park too!!!
The center of the park is the best. Very quiet, peaceful and surrounded by beautiful timbers and rolling hills!
I love this big park. Great place to walk, the upper park of the park provides a flat circle you can walk in if you want a simple walk and the rest of the park has some big hills if you want more of an up and down walk. The view on top of the shack is amazing!
Beautiful place, good for exercising.
Love to read in this park.
Beautiful and quiet park with a wide variety of species of trees and alot of them being very old growth trees. Was really cool to see that old of trees have survived in that close in/urban enviorment
Great park. Nice paths and a big area to play. Lots of dogs are exercised there, but the owners and animals are friendly. Tennis courts are in poor shape, though.
Love it.
Pretty peaceful park! Nice for running or picnics.
Wonderful very serene
The land occupied by Kenilworth Park and most of the Kenilworth neighborhood was part of the land claim owned by Clinton Kelly, a Methodist minister from Kentucky who settled in the area in 1848. In 1909 the Portland Park Board purchased 9 acres from Kelly with funds from a 1908 bond measure created specifically to acquire land for parks in Portland. In 1912 a comfort station pavilion was added and remains an important historic feature of the park.
Decent park. Has two different play areas; one for younger children and one for older. Sadly they are at opposite ends of the park. Has a lovely running/jogging path that circles the entire woodes park. Frequently has a trash problem though.
Great park with two playgrounds and drinking fountains. Bike/walk paths through out.
I made friends with a squirrel and a crow. It was a pretty good time.
Great for sledding and slip and slides
Beautiful peaceful park, great place to relax
Bring your pets and family, a great place to let kids ride their bike or take Fido on a walk.
Lots of shade and relaxation areas
This rarely crowded, spacious, well shaded, and well maintained park is central to the Brooklyn/Reed districts of Southeast Portland. Great for tennis and basketball or a relaxing afternoon picnic (Bring blanket, there are a few tables but no shelters) or maybe a go-to spot for sneaking away with your favorite book for an hour or two of reading and relaxation but children and those looking for a more diverse selection of activities might quickly become bored as there is little other than a small playground and swingset to offer recreation. Walkers and runners may find the paved perimeter path useful for brief cardio. Be advised: after dark the roof of the old brick structure near the tennis court and school becomes a notorious hangout for individuals engaging in behavior that many may find objectionable.
I love this park. Its always beautifully maintained, clean and never too crowded. The landscape is so lovely. The rhododendrons are breathtaking. When it snows, the beautiful lamps set a storybook mood. My husband and I picnicked here last summer and watched for hours as two yellow monarch butterflies danced in spirals around each other. It couldnt have been more perfect. Its such a huge step up from the Colonel Summers Park.
Great place to sit in the dirt and cry
A nice hilly park surrounded by big Pines. Great for sledding in the winter and picnics in the summer
Nice. For summer. Walking
Awesome and beautiful park; we used to go there when I was in preschool at Grout Elementary School.
Great loop for walks
