We love this park as a family!!! With the giant dirt hills and exposed tree root system, it is like a giant playground for adults and kids alike. This park also offers a VERY unique photo opportunities that you will not get anywhere else. There is a giant beautiful lake, beautiful fishing spots and a nice playground as well as plenty of grills to cookout on. Admission is only $2....a great price to pay for hours of fun, beauty and a little bit of adventure.
We visited the Edward Medard Park yesterday for the first time and we really enjoyed it. It costs us $2 per car and the ranger gave us a map and a quick description of the location of the trails. We were able to hike 3 trails as we arrived in late afternoon. The trails are well marked and fairly rustic. There are hills and valleys, roots to walk over, tree limbs to walk under and there are a few scenic outlook areas overlooking the lake where there are park benches to rest upon.We did see at least one sign alerting hikers to the fact that alligators and snakes could be present. The only animals we saw were squirrels and vultures. We ended up walking more than 2.5 miles. There are a few other trails that we did not have time to experience. There are picnic tables and campsites in the park and they offer canoe and kayak rentals and there is a boat ramp to launch your own boat. They also have a playground in one section of the park.
This park is an oasis for fishing and bird watching. I havent seen anywhere in the last few months that just acts so alive with animals and wildlife in general. I only got to fish for about an hour and I didnt catch anything but I think it was scared off by the alligators. By the way there are alligators there take care!
This place is pretty awesome. Fishing, hiking, disc golf, playground, board walk, boat launch and picnicking.I’ve been here a couple of times. Once to play disc golf and the other to hang out with my family. It cost $2 per car to get in, but I feel it’s worth it.There is a part in the back where the roots of some huge trees are exposed. It’s a fun little area to walk and climb for the kids.
The whole place is very well kept. The trails are very well kept. Plenty of places to fish. Nice pavilions to have parties.
I have fallen in love with this beautiful park. The staff, the volunteers, the setting, the spaciousness, the scenery, hiking and lakes made me feel as if I have been transported into an Impressionist Painting. I am so loving my camping here ~ close to stores yet isolated in nature. The staff (Matt, Gloria and Lauren) plus Paul a volunteer have made my stay here so very special. If you have the good fortune to come here, you will understand why I describe it as I do.

The whole place is very well kept. The trails are very well kept. Plenty of places to fish. Nice pavilions to have parties. The sacred hills was our favorite by far!!!! Slso plenty of playgrounds and things to do with the kids. I would strongly suggest you give this place a try. Especially when its only 2 dollars to enter. Its well worth it.
Quiet and comfortable. My family enjoys the walking trails and wildlife. I love biking there daily.
Beautiful park, large lake with beautiful birds and other wildlife.
Its a lovely park, but for the love of God bring mosquito repellant!
This is a hidden gem and local treasure. Recently attended a gathering here. The park is diverse in nature and is wonderfully maintained. Very peaceful, clean and beautiful. The boat ramps are very nice and modern, but you had better watch your speed. The shelters are in very good condition and well maintained. Trails go all over the place. We did not get to check out the campground. There is an area that was not reclaimed, referred to as “The Hills”. Spectacular to explore and see trees growing in odd shapes. The county charges a very modest fee of $2 per car.Very happy with our experience here and we plan to return!
Well preserved and maintained,a go to for my family for fishing, picnics or hiking.....plenty of wildlife to see
Great place for kids and family picnic. They have huge ground, water body, tracking and picnic tables. They have kids play area as well. Very nominal entry fee ($2 for a car). Good parking place. Overall it is good place to spend time with family.
So much to do! I got my yearly pass today and cant wait to make EM part of my regular schedule.
Love the campground... Campsites were spacious and everything was well maintained. Friendly and very welcoming staff. Great place for fishing and viewing local wildlife.
Been more then dozen times over three decades and only now do I realize great hiking trails around the lake! Only ever utilized the pier ! Or climbed the ever eroding old phosphate hills ! Also found a hidden gem....
One of my most favorite places to take the kids for family outings.

One of the best parts Ive been to so far
Beautiful park. Has water, swamp, forest, trails, playground, boat launch, camping, giant beautiful trees, pavilions for parties, an overall nice place for families. Also great for nature photography. Also Matt, who works there is amazing. Super nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable. He made our experience much better!
Great park! Me and my family enjoyed camping here. Staff is nice, but did not inform me that the mailing address was not the actual park address,so I never got my mail. Bathrooms clean daily, main bathroom needs soap to wash your hands.I Like that each site has water and power with a lamp.
Beautiful park. Did not know they had walking trails but they do. I dont recommend them in the AM though bc the grass is kinda long and wet, so my shoes got soaked. But other than that so peaceful and beautiful scenery.
Great place for bounce houses my cousins loved the Minnie Mouse
I had just participated in an eagle scout project that replaced the trail signs. The view is magnificent and all the trails are clean and beautiful.
Great place to fish on a boat for largemouth bass and sunshine bass which is a hybrid of white and striped bass and a beautiful area that has lots of wildlife
The kids love playing on the roots and running in the hills. There’s always a few alligators at the dock.
Very family friendly and enjoyable park! Disc golf is great and very challenging!!!
Ive been going to this park for about five years and have always enjoyed the long walk across the bridge to the observation tower and playing frisbee golf. Unfortunately a storm damaged the bridge across the lake and therefore it is no longer accessible and it is simply boarded up and does not appear to be on their future things to repair. Frisbee golf is still good and those awesome crazy trees with exposed roots is always great for the kids to play in. There is a good open-field, great pavilions, a cool playground and trails, but get the bridge fixed.
Its very niceRather your going to spend a day hiking fishing or frisbee golf it has plenty of activities for couples our invite the whole family for a cook out. Male site to get there early if you want a privilionVery clean and the staff are always very helpful.Has a nice boat ramp our area to fish from the bank with cooking and sitting areas.
