This place is super cool, but it is WAY too hot to do this in the summer. We saw a ton of wildlife while we were out here- turkeys, gopher tortoises, black racers, rabbits. Host notably, I came inches from stepping on a juvenile Cottonmouth, so watch where you step and stay away from the tall grass!

Nice mostly open space with good trails and occasional wildlife. We hiked a out 7 miles, but there is plenty of opportunity for longer hikes too.

Love coming here to hike. Went just over 12 miles today. The whole time you can watch the skydivers from across route 39. Today I saw 3 deer, 2 turkeys, and a couple black snakes. Blackberries should be ready soon. You have to look for them, but they are out there. All the trails are nicely mowed didnt see and water on the trail untill I got to the yellow trail on the north side. Other than that, high and dry for a change. Had a good day

Not very impressed with this park. The reviews said you will often see deer early in the morning but I did not see any. The trails were also not in good condition and even though it says it is Blackwater Creek Preserve, you only get once tiny view of the creek, most of the trails are just through fields. It is not very interesting. There are other parks not far from here that are pretty and better for hiking

We had a great time with our fur kids at this beautiful park. There is a great mix of open and wooded trails. We enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back.

Trails were fairly open with little shade. Hiked on 2nd of January, there were several large puddles on the Red Loop that were passable, but a few on the Yellow Loop required a little slogging.

Gorgeous preserve with well-maintained and well-marked trails through a nice diversity of ecosystems from flatwood scrub to wet prairie to cypress dome to hardwood hammock and riparian wetland. Great for dog walking, wildlife viewing, and botanizing.

Honestly if you dont have a dog, dont bother. There are much better places around, you can get the same experience by walking through a cow field.

This nature trail takes your through various types of terrain beginning with the grasslands as trails will guide you toward the tree canopy and towards the river. It takes a couple of miles, maybe like 50 minutes in order to make it to the river but it is totally worth it. Make sure to come during the dry season because towards the river it can get a little boggy/swampy. Also the grass trail beginning the nature preserve is a little bit overgrown which can make it a little more difficult to navigate. Definitely a hiking trip to reccomend for avid hikers/nature enthusiasts. The trail difficulty is 3/10. Very flat terrain the whole way. Make sure to bring water!!!

Not many sites to see but an excellent hike among prairie views with tranquil silence (when the parachute jumps arent occurring). This is a great look trail and a fantastic cross country run. Plan on bringing your own water as there is none along the trail. Its also not frequented so make sure you tell someone where you are at.

There are still a few marshy areas along the trail, but I enjoy the solitude of hiking there during the week days as I usually have the whole place to myself.

This is definitely one of my favorite local trails! It’s always really clean and it provides a quick run. I recently volunteered with Hillsborough County to update the trail markers. Since we did that I feel like it’s been better getting through my runs! Also the creek is a beautiful thing to see. If you go early in the morning you can usually see tons of small spider webs all over the floor! It’s beautiful. You can do a short quick trail or the longer trail. Both provide you will plenty to see! Highly recommend it!

For the most part a great hike, well marked and maintained trails. My friend had brought her dog and along the trail we ran into 2 ladies who had 3 or 4 dogs without leashes. One was a pitbull that ran toward us and started to attack our dog, my friend was knocked to the ground. We were trying to defend our dog with trekking poles. Thankfully the owner was able to pull back her dog before anyone was hurt. Dog owners please leash your dogs.

Nice wide trails here. Even in wet times they are all passable. Every time Ive been here I havent seen another soul. Perfect for a nice quiet hike. Entrance to park is at the end of the road, just park off to the side by the fence.

Beautiful trail - no pavement or much in the way of improvements here. It is very natural. The trails are very well marked, and there is a lot to see. Diverse examples of Florida vegetation, from Palm scrub areas to stands of pines. The basic (red) loop is 4.2 miles, with an extra loop (yellow), if you are feeling more ambitious. Unlike many of Hillsborough County Trails, once you leave the trailhead, you dont see any roads, houses, or any other intrusions on nature. Excellent for dog walking.
