Tried to go on a “first come, first serve tour” but apparently you have to get to the park at 12pm and reserve a spot. Very misleading on the website and the two ladies working there were rude. Was excited to go but maybe I’ll wait a couple of years to see if it is a better experience...

We had a great time with my grandson. The mine is cool and a little wet in spots. The self guided tour was neat to listen to. Kinda small but what do you expect? We bought souvenirs, had a picnic and hiked. What a day.

I love this place because its very spread out and theres a picnic area where you can go to the river, which is beautiful. Also the public restrooms are very nice for a public bathroom. The only real downfall is that it is really really hot.

It was a nice drive up. Very interesting place, they have a self walk tour in the mine. You hook up to their app and internet to listen to it. They also have a blacksmith and mill there, they gave a tour and explained how it was all done. The gift shop was very affordable. Very friendly and a great learning experience

The audio tour of the mine is solid... Lots of details and plenty to see. We even found a little lizard hanging out. The mine is cool even on a hot day and the path is easy to walk. The highlight of the trip was Pat in the stamper mill and blacksmith shop. Great guy with lots of knowledge. I could have stayed and chatted with him all day.

If I could I would put zero. 9 dollars for the tour, about 15 minutes of explanation on an application that is only in English and we stay about 5 minutes cause its only 150m of visit. They even not put fake gold for fun. AND THEY CALL IT A MINE. A MINE.Dont pay for that! The rest is cool and a little interesting. But it doesnt take more than 1hour and a half but its free. (More if you want to have a long walk on the trail but we didnt test it)

Gold mine itself just OK but 5 stars for Richard at Stamp Mill building and Jocelyn at Blacksmith Shop. Those 2 people are extremely knowledgeable, funny and friendly, very interesting for kids and adults.

Mellow small park that if you walk the trails and visit the museum and blacksmith house you can enjoy a few hours there. The bathroom is closed during winter hours but they have port-o-potties available. The one mine you can tour has a small fee ($4 for kids and $7 for adults) and takes about 10-15 to tour. The main gate says it closes at 5 and the one up the hill closes at 4.

Scam. Paid $20 for the tour and then after the old guy took my money, I realized the tour was closed when we got in the mines and there was nowhere to go, everything was blocked off and all I discovered was a straight 20-ft tunnel with a dead-end. I got SCAMMED! Thanks for stealing my money! Next time tell paying customers you cannot provide a tour BEFORE YOU TAKE THEIR MONEY

I adore this small & very historical park. Very nice to visit on a hot summer day & have a picnic. Filled with different varieties of indigenous birds & wildlife, which will visit you, if you sit very still & notice them!! The docents are well informed. Most California residents do not know that El Dorado County is referred to as The County that made California Great due to the discovery of GOLD! A happy place!

A little short but when we went to the blacksmith building, thats when the experience started to shine. The workers there loved talking about the old times and it was a treat hearing about all the stories back then.Oh, when the guy talks about the rock crushing rig and shows you the little demo, point to the wanted poster titled, Black Bart he loves talking about him lol

This place is amazing. The mine tour will make you feel like its 1849. If you ever wanted to learn something about the gold rush in a fun way, this is it. Try to arrange a tour as going self guided wont give you nearly as much cool information and you will miss out on a ton of hidden things. I could easily see how self guided would be a huge letdown.

Great little spot to visit or to take out-of-towners! Dont know why bug is in the name, there are no insects on display here, but lots of information on the gold rush and an actual mine you can walk into. I am slightly claustrophobic, but I did not have a problem with this mine, its not too deep and fairly spacious! You take the residential streets and end up here. I dont recall the exact price for the mine entrance, but everything is very reasonable. In fact, to rent a pan and sift through for gold and gems (theyre planted), it only costs $2 an hour. You sift through a wooden trough with other prospectors hoping to strike it rich.I didnt find any gold, but found some quartz, calcite and some other stuff. There is a large picnic area for groups and flushing toilets. Yay! The surrounding forest area is beautiful and its just nice to be in nature. The gift shop is reasonably priced. You can purchase different rocks, glass eggs ($3), rock candy ($1.25), postcards, books on rocks, maps, etc. I was chatting to the woman in the store and she said last year they had visitors from all 50 states and all over the world! She didnt know how people found out about it...

3 Hour round trip for a 10 minute walk only to be kicked out because of a kids on tour. The guide was rude and very disrespectful to other adults besides me. To be in character is 1 thing but flat out rude was a huge waste of time and money would not even rate this as 1 star.Very poor control of how to operate a park. Thanks for showing how to be rude in front of all those kids.It is no wonder kids grow up now a days and act the way they do. Good example!
