We visited in October and was in awe from their Fall Flowers. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of mums; it was a stunning display. They also were doing an amazing job with social distancing. The one way route was nice. We went at 11am on a Saturday morning and felt as though we had the place to ourselves.

The botanical gardens are always fun, even with COVID, the conservatory has everything mapped out and hand sanitizer at every point. Right now the conservatory is decked out for the holiday season. Book your time, check in and take a leisurely walk around this wonderful conservatory

An absolute must-see when in the burgh. The customer service was stellar. There was initially a lot of covid confusion— you need to purchase tickets in advance. The staff is doing a great job considering the complications. The Christmas show is just beautiful. There are no words. You’ve just got to check it out yourself! Worth every penny.

Very nicely done. The first few exhibits were all mum (in about 3 sections or rooms of the conservatory). Definitely no pop with them or the foliage in those rooms. Once one hits the room devoted to Japanese plants, thats where the exhibits really picked up. Not the most interesting bonsai Ive seen, but the way it included a Koi pond just seems to draw one in. They also had a room with miniature scenes showing the relationships with towns/people and nature and plants. In addition, the room on Cuba was very engaging and original, as was the room with exotic plants and the way that room was laid out and infused with glass people. Overall, a good site to visit and add on ones list!

Beautiful and serene place. During COVID online booking is required. Some of the places are chained off - mostly places for kids to climb, probably due to difficulty of cleaning. Visitors are nice and polite, even though the whole exhibit is structure such that you follow a line with not much venturing off to the sides. It looks like they cater some events as well.

My girlfriend and I had a great time here despite having to social distance! We found it really cool how each room had different themes and plants from different regions in them. Our favorite was the Cuba room. The atmosphere was very laid back and tropical. We gave the rumba a shot which was fun - I definitely held her back to say the least. One thing you should definitely check out if you get the chance to is the rooftop/balcony thing that can be found by going out the doors at the back of the Cuba room; the view is great, and the space is very peaceful. We had a great time here, and would both definitely recommend this place if you’re passing through the Pittsburgh area!

It has been quite some since my last visit to Phipps Conservatory but the renovations and improvements have made a remarkable difference. The various rooms abound with a wide variety of plant types from around the world, many in bloom with others being a great display of species and size. The displays consist of both annuals and perennials in many indoor as well as some outdoor settings. There are 5 different shows per year providing a variety of colors each time.

During the pandemic you have to get tickets online for a start time to limit the number of people inside. That means you can get beautiful photos of the flowers and really experience the beauty of the conservatory in a peaceful setting. Flowers are food for the soul. Especially important now. So glad they are open to the public! The grounds have a one-way only path so you get to see most everything. The space is big enough to get your moneys worth but not so large you are exhausted with the walking. The one thing I wished I had known before was that you can take drinks with you as you walk. Since it was 90° outside, the tropical houses and desert house were especially hot. I would have liked to hydrate as I walked. But the cafe was open for a cold drink afterwards. I highly recommend a visit.

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Im not just referring to the immaculate and thoughtful exhibits or the remarkable green building accomplishments, but the staff. The people of Phipps are what truly make this place beautiful: Adam, Michelle, Meghan, Jennifer, Joe, Michael, Billy, Theresa, Mary-Lou, and many others all bring incredible skill, talent and passion to their work. Not only this, but their personalities fill the atmosphere with joy, laughter, and warmth. They are what make this place magical. I absolutely cannot wait to come again and bring my family...Im even considering becoming a Yinzer - if thats allowed?

My daughter and I had a fun time at the Conservatory. They do a very nice job of creating a COVID safe environment with flows and maximum people in some rooms. My only concern is that it hardly seems fair to charge full price when there was so many private events in the facility. They should consider special event pricing.

This is such a beautiful place with all kinds of plants, from a room filled with orchids, to an elegant outdoor garden, to an indoor rainforest and every kind of native and exotic plant in between. All the plants here are well taken care of. The seasonal decorations really add to the experience, too, especially the holiday lights and decorations in December. Kids will enjoy the activities laid out throughout the building. Theres a cafe with good food and a gift shop as well. Overall its one of my favorite places to visit in Pittsburgh, and Ill definitely return!

They have all been wonderful, my favorite has been at Christmas, very bright and beautiful.Currently with the Coronavirus you must buy your tickets online and choose an entry time, you must always use your face mask, they have various hand sanitizer dispensers available throughout the route, as well as instructions on how many people can be in each room to avoid any accumulation of people.

Very lovely place! Lots of unique plant life that Ive never seen before. Very easy to walk with a layout where you always turn right to continue forward and see everything. Theres still plenty to see even if you visit in the winter. However, I would say, and the reason for 4 stars, is that its a little pricey in my opinion. At $20 a person ($17 for students), you need to really enjoy plant life to gain value from the purchase.Theres a nice little cafe at the front of the exhibit. Theres also a lot of glass art throughout the exhibit and even a Little Shop of Horrors reference.

Phipps is the best place and always relaxing and beautiful. The seasonal train displays very interesting with all the small details throughout and now with hands off triggers to get more actions. The great smell of the place is something you cant enjoy during covid precautions, but dont let this stop you from supporting them so they will still be there if things get better. The spring show is my favorite, but the Christmas winter displays are epic and not to be missed. The bonsai and orchid shows are also great. This a pittsburgh treasure that should be enjoyed by all no matter what the time of year or show at that time

I enjoyed my visit here but felt that for the price of admission there were a lot of places that were closed off and it seemed that upkeep of some of the gardens/exhibits werent as nice as it could have or should have been. Nice venue all year round, and during the Christmas season, they will decorate with lights and Christmas themes for many of the rooms they have, plus a large outdoor display in their garden area (pics attached). During this time, it gets very busy! Tickets are best bought ahead of time with reservation times. For a botanical garden, it is s tad bit pricey, but it is very well organized. An improvement they could work on for the Christmas season is that although most of the rooms are open, there are a few that do not have decorations (Desert Room, Orchid Room), and these are best viewed with good lighting in the day, or better lighting at night.Overall, a great place to spend an hour or two in Pittsburgh and it is open all year round.

Full Disclosure, I do have an annual membership to The Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and I believe it is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of Pittsburgh life, particularly in winter. However, while they do offer an unparalleled cornucopia of exotic flora (specifically their Orchid and Miniature Tree collections), at nearly $18.00 for an adult ticket, it may be rather pricey for the typical family. In fact, because it may prove challenging to visit more than a few times a year because of its cost, so you may want to ask them about their monthly and annual events and perhaps explore their membership options. Please understand that while The Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens does try and reserve 72 parking spaces, even a membership does not guarantee that youll find easy, free or even close parking. In conclusion, with their quaint cafeteria, inspired gift shop and overall content, Id have to say... Even with the cost and lack of parking this is certainly a FIVE STAR REVIEW!

A terrific place to visit for people of all ages, the conservatory has a huge botanical collection with plants from many different regions and environments, a butterfly room, small farm, and an ultra Eco-friendly building.
