If you havent stepped inside the Saint Marys Basilica in downtown Phoenix I would definitely recommend checking it out! officially named The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, was founded in 1881. The current church replaced an earlier adobe church which was built in 1881. Building work on the present church began in 1902 and was completed in 1914. The church was dedicated in 1915, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places as St. Marys Church in 1978. The oldest Roman Catholic parish church in the greater Phoenix, Arizona, area, it was the only parish in Phoenix until 1924 and is home to Arizonas largest stained glass windows collection and a 26 rank pipe organ built by the Schantz Organ Company.

The day of the Dead festivities is a great event to take the family to. We all have a great time. They have Mariachi Singers, a Stage, Kid Zone along with great eats from dozens of food trucks. We dont attend church here but we keep coming back to this great opportunity to participate in the holiday.

Truly a community of good will people wanting to help others. Centrally located in the heart of downtown Phoenix, the outreach of this community is remarkable. The Church itself and all its historic preservation is truly the tip of the iceberg. Everyone is welcomed as if they are a normal parishioner. Popular place for visitors as well.

It is a beautiful Church. And the congregation seemed very welcoming. The sermon was a bit weird though. Almost political. Just surprised me a bit. Im not Catholic but was away on business and wanted to go to church on Sunday. St Marys was within walking distance from my hotel. I think I will try to find a non-denominational church next time.

The time we spent visiting St. Marys Basilica was magical. We attended All Saints Day and they had the Litany of the Saints, one of the greatest Mass experiences of my life. The history and beauty of the grounds is evident. They have a great gift shop, my large Crucifix was bought here in 2007. Its a great piece of my faith journey I enjoy to this day. Fond memories when I recall my trip to St. Marys, I HIGHLY recommend attending Mass and walking the grounds. Praise be!

I love this church! It was a beacon of hope during a very dark period of my life. It gave me hope while covered in a shroud of darkness. I gave it a 4 because the pastor & vicar are very aloof behind their cheerful exteriors. They still are liturgical excellent priests but leave me with a cold feeling behind their facade. I have to remember priests are only human like the rest of us. They do their best.

Beautiful sacred space in the Franciscan tradition. Mother Church of Phoenix and a Phoenix Point of Pride. No other place like it. Compassionate engaged staff serving the inner city, with special emphasis on the poor, marginalized and least of these.. Incredibly diverse congregation of young and the young at heart, singles and families of all kinds, business professionals amd the working poor. A place you can be comfortable regardless of your background in reverent worship in a majestic sacred space.

They had parking for an event at the convention center. I greatly appreciated them offering parking for the event or was comparable to other commercial parking areas for the same event $20 per day, but the money goes to the church which makes me happy though I am not catholic. I am physically impaired so the proximity to the convention center is awesome.

I park there for D-backs games. Renee is awesome & friendly (& a Cubs fan!) Would much rather give my money to church for parking, and it is easy out after game & quick to get on I-10 & 202. Short walk to game & ur car is out of sun & relatively cool after game. So if ur a Christian & go to D-backs games, park at St.Marys. They w/ do more good with the money than the city will.

This church is very old in a good way. It has a rich history as the priests also used to teach at St. Marys high school which was down the street on Polk until the 1990s.Their choir is beautiful. Masses during the week are popular also. Start at 12:05. Sundays Masses are longer. Very cool place to get to know especially if you are Catholic or interested in becoming a Catholic.

I paid to park in the garage under the basilica and I asked when I paid if the garage had in and out privileges. I explained I needed to park for a few hours, then leave and come back later that afternoon. The woman confirmed that would be no problem so I paid, parked and left after a few hours. When I came back that afternoon a security guard (different from the woman i spoke with in the morning) told me I could NOT park in the garage and that he was calling a tow truck if I didnt voluntarily leave. Youd expect a little more honesty from a Catholic church. Theyre getting revenue under false pretenses! Lying to people, taking their money and then not delivering what they expressly promised! Textbook fraud. I guess even God is hard up for cash.

+JMJ...Church history just pours from the main and side altars! For believers and non-believers alike the architecture, paintings and statues are worthy of admiration. I entered this historical Church building, a house of worship and prayer, with awe and interest. Was able to join the community for a week-day Holy Mass. Was surprised to see that so many took time from their work schedules spending their lunch break to enter into the spiritual oasis of refreshing prayer. Walked around the lovely, lush grounds and was pleasantly surprised by the life-sized statue of the holy pope, now a Saint, Pope John Paul II. Wished I lived closer than Cottonwood so as to be able to stop in from time to time just to sit in the quiet of this holy house.
