Historic, beautifully preserved mansion in Society Hill built in 1765. It was home to Elizabeth and Mayor Samuel Powel, who hobnobbed with our nations founders. I visited for a fundraising event, and the garden area was decorated with white lights for the occasion. It would be perfect for an intimate wedding or party. Most of the rooms are open and restored, plus a knowledgeable guide was provided to offer tours.

We held our wedding reception at the Powel House last August. The dinner took place in the garden and the setting was absolutely gorgeous. Many of our Philly-based guests didnt know about the house and were excited to learn about its historical significance. Renting the space itself is inexpensive but there is a hidden cost in that you have to rent the tables and a tent, and you must use their approved caterers. That said, we felt it was worth it. Thanks so much to Meagan and the rest of the staff for making it such a smooth event.

I absolutely fell in the love with the Powel House when I first saw it. It is a gorgeous historical home in Society Hill, Philadelphia that is filled with a such a rich history. We chose to have our small intimate wedding there and were blown away by how accommodating the staff was and how beautifully the house was transformed for the reception. I would highly recommend for a tour or even more so if youre looking to host a wedding or other event. Thank you Jennifer for everything!

My wife and I had our wedding ceremony at the Powel House and it was nothing short of magical. Guests loved the cozy, intimate setting and the garden worked perfectly for our ceremony. Meagan was helpful, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend this venue to our friends. Meagan was flexible in making our vision come true and we are so happy with the result!

The Powell House is another amazing historic home that is preserved and mantained by PhilaLandmarks. I have hosted several events (both personally and professionally) between the Powell House and the Physick House. PhilaLandmarks does a great job preserving these beautiful homes and they are fantastic to work with. Would highly recommend the Powell House.

We recently had our wedding at the Powel House, and I couldnt recommend it more. The house and garden are beautiful, and all of our guests loved the location.Everyone from the Philadelphia Society of Landmarks that we worked with were great (especially Meagan). They were super easy to get in touch with, and worked great with all the vendors we selected.

We held a retirement party for a colleague -- an American-history buff -- at Powel House at the end of June 2018. First of all, working with Meagan, site manager of Powel House, was a pleasure. She is a pro, and her advice was very helpful. She is also just plain nice to deal with. Second, everyone loved Powel House itself. We were all impressed with its historical significance, beauty, and elegance. To walk on the same floor (and floorboards!) as George Washington, John Adams, and others, was amazing! Thanks to decent weather, we were able to use the beautiful garden, too. Id host another event at Powel in a heartbeat. Thanks, Meagan!

Both Powel House and Hill-Physick House are such special places in Philadelphia, great for hosting events that will make your guests feel special. Very reasonable rental fee, friendly and helpful house hosts. I used JAM Caterers and they did an outstanding job.
