I had a chance to go to the ‘Lest We Forget Museum’ today and I was in awe at the history of the so called “African Americans” and the inhumane treatment we endured during our enslavement and our horrible journey to American from various countries in African. Mrs. Ragsdale the founder’ wife, welcome our group with kindness and gave us a tour along with a wealth of knowledge. Some things we had knowledge but to see actual artifacts brought our experience to another level.I highly recommend that all African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans come to this museum. As the owner has said “When you know better, you do better”
So glad I stopped by! Extremely informational on true black history that the board of education doesnt teach. Amazing museum*
Small, but packed full of incredible amounts of knowledge! Curators are welcoming and friendly.
Kids and I were blown away by our visit. Small, intimate experience with personal tour by exec owner. This is Philadelphias only slavery museum and perfect place to see artifacts and documentation highlighting so many facets of the Black experience leading from Africa to present day America. Tour drives home the message that 200+ years of legal slave trade, followed by decades of US slave breeding and nearly a century of Jim Crow, created myriad problems that we are clearly still needing to work together as US country and within Black communities to address. Museum exposes many horrors but also highlights the strength and innovative spirit of the Black community. Everyone should visit this museum, and probably more than once!! My kids and I cherished every minute of the 90 min tour.
Great....was very informative. All should visit..... young and old.
This was such a powerful experience told with so much detail of history and its relationship to the present. Slavery is so deeply embedded in American culture, and this is such an important reminder of the work we need to continue.
Found this gem in back of the German Museum on the picture. Go around to the side of the building. Small venue but a lot of information and lots of artifacts from the 1500s to present day. We got a personal guide through it from the owner. Truly enjoyed our visit. I cannot imagine what our people endured, lest we never forget.
Such a powerful experience. There’s no way you can come out the same as you went in.
Very emotional. If only todays youth could see this vision about slavery. The owners are informative and great historians. I will bring more thru.
Words can not describe the knowledge I received during my visit. You must see it for yourself.
Learn alot about the African American culture
Informative museum with kind, helpful, and informative staff.
This is rather out of the way, but worth the visit.
I had a fabulous experience at the Lest We Forget Museum. Mr and Mrs Ragsdales museum is something you wont see anywhere else. Their authentic artifacts and stories about slavery are so amazing. If you ever get the chance to visit the museum bring your family its a very important part of history that our young people need to see.
Had a great time very educational.
Top notch history you will not find in larger commercial museums, visit if you have time you wont be disappointed
Its not there. Owner was sued by his former attorney, Faye Riva Cohen, and Cohen had a judgement to get a lien placed on 3650 Richmond St. As of date, Faye Cohen has filed lawsuits against 200 plus clients of hers.
Great informative
