Had a really good time with our group. Located on top of what looks like a school, follow signs for Bok. Very safe covid protocols. When we got there they had the local drumline performing, which was a fantastic show.Food was fantastic, catered by Rooted Soul, would strongly recommend visiting her page and trying her food. Drinks were great prices and arrived promptly.10/10
Do not come here if you are looking for a cheap night out, the food and drinks are expensive because you pay for the view and the atmosphere too. That being said, it is 100% worth it. The staff is friendly and attentive. The drinks are good. They have been very safe with COVID. And the views you will get from the rooftop day or night are unbeatable.
Great view and drinks! Honestly best view of the city from here. Try to come at night as the skyline is beautiful. They have rotating food vendors as well. Also shout out to 2 persona coffee
Three stars for providing one of the best views in all of the city. Minus two starts for its beverage offerings. No cocktails found here.
The view is fantastic. The staff is nice. Larrie is a doll.. She is spunky and full of life.
Amazing food and service . Nice view on the rooftop . enjoyed my time so you would definitely enjoy yours
Beautiful historic building, BOK bar downstairs and some cool tenants as well
Nice view but service is average because of covid...
Philly technical high school transformed into makerspaces community with creative start-ups and good BBQ at the Smokehouse. The rooftop bar with skyline views is the big draw. Come instead for the Wednesday studio tours at 5pm and other special events. Highlights: huge flaky croissants at Machine Shop Boulangerie, kids creative workshops at Art Sphere, Mr. Jacobis instrument repair shop, and remnants from Bok shop classes like the Safety Rules sign.
Still one of the best rooftop in (South) Philly. I will highly recommend especially now that is not as crowded.
Bok Bar is doing it right during this crazy time. The best service from Larry! The food was awesome! The best view of the city.
I live around the corner and come as much as possible! Its perfect!
Beautiful Views, but staff isnt really that friendly - theyre not rude, just feels like cashier service. Needs a better menu. Im always surprised how busy it is there - its definitively about the view - my friends like it more than me and thats why I keep going back. Feel like they are missing the mark since the location and views are so good.
The view is amazing, and the way they have the contactless tab to pay for your bill is genius
Amazing VIEW! it has an interesting vibe when you walk in, as it use to be a school... the rooftop is renovated with plants and seating and is great place to chill with friends or have a date night overlooking Philadelphia ! RECOMMEND FOR TOURISTS as you’ll definitely get a great photo shoot here! drinks are great and moderately priced. i will definitely be returning. parking is across the street and is free ! you can see your car from the rooftop. if you’re hungry they also have a limited food menu! i will be returning for sure
I dont like the fact that you have to be buzzed in. Its annoying. There is already a person and security at the front desk.
Great for views of the city. Rooftop bar on top of an old school.
Great view, solid burger that hit the spot
Awesome view of the Philadelphia skyline!
One of the nicest view of a rooftop bar you can get in philly.
Love Bok bar. Sad we probably won’t be able to experience it this summer :(
Great views, limited food an beverages, great for experience
Went there for the most fantastic wedding. The space is fun with ridiculous views of the city in every direction.
Wow, loved all of the eclectic vendors in this old school. The punk rock flea market held here was so much fun. Found some treasured items and relived so.e good memories. Will definitely come back.
Go to a rooftop event here if you can. The view is great!
A great spot in South Philly with awesome views! Come hungry and grab some food off of the limited menu. You will be pleased.
Amazing view and quick service
Was here for a 1st birthday party at the Beehive. Great place for small kids!
Awesome view and really friendly service
Very interesting repurpose of the facility.I felt the $5 fee to get into the flea market was too much for that part of the venue
Attended Barrymore Awards. Fantastically set up but the restroom situation.. needs to be better
Hidden gem in the city! Cool spot for drinks in an unlikely place. Also! Can’t beat the view of the Philly skyline
Fun and happening place in the sky. Enjoy the views and have a blast.
I enjoyed my experience here. It started to drizzle out and there were people walking around offering patrons ponchos. I thought that was amazing. I do wish, though, that all of their tables had the overhead draping to keep light rain out. The food was good, but I wasnt thrilled with the presentation; my warp fell apart within seconds of lifting it. I wound up having to eat it so much more quickly since I didnt have a fork. The non-alcoholic drinks, I felt, were severely overpriced. I ordered a ginger ale which cost several dollars and was handed a 12oz can. I felt that was a complete joke. The service itself, however, was great. We were there for a birthday party. Id read on their website about their bring your own cake fee; however, since I hadnt planned this party, Id figured the organizer had taken care of it and didnt mention it. When the host saw there was a homemade dessert on the table, he did charge the group, and rightfully so. In regards to the remaining dining atmosphere unrelated to the weather, obviously the view is spectacular. I chose not to be a sheep and take photos with the view considering everyone and their mother was already doing so. I thought the location looked incomplete, however, without viewfinders situated on the roof. Im unsure if they used to be there or if there was some ordinance that indicated they needed to come down, but I think they would have been a great addition to the scene if allowed.
Bok Bar is now my favorite bar in Philadelphia! The best rooftop view of the ENTIRE city! You can see all the way from West Philly to New Jersey from their rooftop! There is no cover charge or dress code so that makes it easy for Bok Bar to amass a HUGE crowd. The bar is a rooftop of a very old school, and the rooftop is huge! Theyve put tables, chairs, a lounge area, subdued lighting, an observation telescope and EXCELLENT music to create the best atmosphere. The bar itself has over priced drinks with a can of IPA beer running $5.50 per beer but thats the price you pay when theres no cover charge. Fun!!!
Great, unique food. Great, unique atmosphere. Servers (actually everyone) were always smiling and answered questions easily. Will be going back!
Best view in Philly. Drinks are ok.
Its a great space and usually an alright time but the prices are just ridiculous now. They go up substantially each year. Its not worth it anymore, especially if youve already been a few times. I believe last night was closing night for the season. Assuming a $12 bottle of wine will be $55 or $60 next season, I dont know that well ever be going bok. (See what I did there?)
Great re-use of a space with great views in the heart of South Philly.
Really easy to find
Awesome location for a small business operator. Provides plenty of options in terms of space to operate from. There is a bar on the top floor too.
Beautiful views of the city from a fun place to get a drink in warm weather.
Loved it and has amazing views of the city!
Absolutely Breathtaking ... The Only Place That Never Fails To WOW....
Crazy cool views from the roof top restaurant. Easy street parking. Some lots nearby in this section of South Philadelphia.
Nice place for a party but its too cold.
Such a cool venue. Lots of small artisan shops.
Beautiful views and good food! A must visit place. Food choices are limited but they are good.
First time at the Bok Bar! Loved it! The atmosphere was mellow, the music and seating arrangements were cozy and condusive to conversation and the views were spectacular!
Reasonably priced, incredible views, short lines, quick service. I honestly cant wait to go back!
Great repurpased space.
Great Bicycle repair shop!!
Im glad they didnt let this school go to waste
Even if its not located in the most sexy Philly neighborhood, Bok Bar is hands down THE rooftop. Loads of room both seating and standing, good beers choice, staff on point and delicious food.
Great space, exceptional views.
Super cute spot, located at the top of an old high school. The furniture isnt too comfy or inviting but the views make up for that.
Really unique bar with a beautiful view. Highly recommend visiting on a nice clear night
Many unique small businesses inside though it looks like just a school. There arent any huge markings to tell if driving by (as I was looking for a business- maybe they all should list business name at The Bok School instead of the address. Even the front door isnt every eyecatching- old, no window to give an idea that its in use. The building is hot, no A/C. It is clean. There is little Street parking available. Ill go back in a few weeks and post a pic of the front doors so that anyone reading this and looking to visit knows what to look for. Overall, supporting these local small businesses with community support makes this a worthwhile stop.
Beautiful view from the top of an old school building! Great spot for a group of friends.
The view is amazing! If you enjoy watching sunset, add this place to your list.
It was nice but the picture shows it a lot better being all lit up in the dark but it was a nice spot
It was a cool place, unusual view of south philly. Nice place to come and drink some hipster beers.
Absolutely beautiful video if it is a cooler night there are no heaters on the rooftop so it is cold
Very unique bar on top of a abandoned multi-storied high school. Gorgeous view!
Great place with great views. Highly recommend this place, esp if you have guests from out of town visiting Philly!
Madlab room 411 has the greatest short films and Nicole is the best. Drop by and see some of the best short films from all over the world!!!
Nice place to watch sunset Having pub facility One can spend evening time with friends n other loved ones Open up to 12 mid night
Fun rooftop bar with amazing views of the Philly skyline.Sunday afternoons are kid and dog friendly!
This place is awful, you will hate it. This place is the best kept secret in south philly. I work out of the coffee shop a few times a month. It’s big and spacious.
Go for the views. The view of the city is the highlight. The food is just okay, and the drink selection is average, but hanging out on a rooftop bar with a bunch of friends is always a good time.
On a perfect day, you cant beat the atmosphere and the view. The perfect place to unwind after a long week.
This place is so cool. It appears to be an old school that was repurposed as a community Center / museum. Many of the classrooms have been made into art exhibits. Some of them are used for workshops and classes. I came for a flea market that was being held in the gymnasium. I got some great Essense soy based candles and some artisan jewelry as gifts.
Hated this place. Theatre auditorium has old wood seats. Could not be more uncomfortable.
Great view of Philadelphia. Nice place to spend a good time.
Relaxing atmosphere, incredible views, and great drinks. Food that we had was good also.
Great arts and crafts and flea market venue!
Community center with miscellaneous tenants of local artists and businesses. Known for its rooftop restaurant and bar with instagram worthy views.
They allow dogs on Sundays!
The purfic view on a perfectly sunny day.But nothin good on their menu. Special MENU for great BEER. GO FOR THE VIEW!!!!
Great view of the citys skyline
Expensive but cool. A bowl of Fried olives (8) which happened to be the most amazing olives ive ever had were 8$
This amazingly well preserved Art Deco school in South Philly has been turned into a cultural center. It embodies both the history and revitalized future of the area.
Odd location. Difficult to access. Crowded. Loud. Bar and food service makes you feel like you are at the torn-down Veterans Stadium: drinks expensive and extremely short pours, food in paper bowls. On those merits alone, this would have been a two-star review, but it is without a doubt, for all of its shortcomings, one of the best open air views of the downtown skyline and still a bit of a scene. I hope Bok Bar is more than a flash in the pan and finds a way to stay relevant longer term. Its nice that some entrepreneurs are willing to make the effort to repurpose some of the older buildings that are architecturally interesting.
It was very clean friendly and had great waitress the food was perfect
Great views and amazing ambiance . It was perfect way to end our weekend in Philly on a roof top watching the sunset with a cold beer .
This building has a long way to go with renovations but I really like the Smokehouse BBQ restaurant and Im looking forward to more good restaurants here.
