We love going to Portside Cinema. Prices are great on tickets and snacks. Two of us can watch a newer release film with a large drink and popcorn (both refillable) for $16. Every time we visit the staff is friendly also.See ya at the movies
Ah, military theaters will always have a special place in my familys heart and Portside is no exception! As a military brat growing up and as a Service Member now my family and I have always enjoyed the accessibility, convenience, and quality offered by base theaters!
Great place for the family! Great prices!! Staff could be more friendly.......they always seem annoyed with customers. I dont understand that.
Movies, a place where dreams come true or a place to go to feel undervalued and under appreciated? Let’s start simply. Why is there only one movie kids can see during Christmas break? Sounds like bad marketing when blue angle park isn’t bringing any money in during its off season. Why if we are lucky is there only one kids movie a day? (Is it because it’s the same movie) wait I take it back frozen II is playing twice a day sometimes this week only. Port side does this during the summer spring break and fall break too. Let’s move on to the more interesting. You should not sell a single ticket after the movie starts. 20 minutes into the movie you had your attendant asking people to move so people could sit down. Unacceptable! Unprofessional! Your attendant looking at the open seat between my oldest daughter and I and me shaking my head no that she couldn’t have it. She seemed all huffeled. Let me explain to YOU why you couldn’t have that seat number one I payed for four tickets that means I’m renting four seats for the duration of the movie end of conversation. Since most people can’t handle I’ll put some of my business out there. I have a six year old non-verbal special needs daughter that uses a wheel chair (thanks for the wheel chair ramp but no wheel chair seating) she sits next to my wife in the isle, we are usually third row so we are the furthest down and out of the way Incase she gets unruly and needs to leave. That fourth chair I rented out is empty but it may not stay that way. If a movie is particularly good like trolls she will sit in a movie chair and laugh like all the other kids. Yesterday she wasn’t 100% so she stayed in her chair. At no point should you have to be asking 20 minutes into a movie for people to move down. If the lights are off no ticket. MWR needs new people in charge of the movie theater. You are loosing money faster than you could hope to make it because you undervalued the children and their parents need for a break. When I lived in Naples they used to on Saturdays play a three movie kids block starting at like 10 or 11 and they would play older kids movies three of them in a row for the price of a normal movie ticket. Think about the money in concessions alone. Like I said you need better leaders. Last thing I want to note is that I notice every time I go to a kids movie there are groups of AD watching the same movie so maybe these 17-20 year olds wanna see some of these movies too.
Good Theater! They show popular movies a few weeks after they hit civilian theaters for low prices. Snacks are decently priced, and they have a reasonable variety of food (their popcorn salt is tasty!). The screens and sound systems work well, no complaints there. Facilities are dated, but not super dirty. The low price alone is worth it! Definitely should come here a couple weeks after the next big movie is released and get the whole theater experience for a lot cheaper than the other spots!
Comfy movie theater that cost 3 or 5 dollars (I cant remember) for a ticket. Popcorn was kinda cold but I was there when it was empty. Just as a warning, the national anthem plays before the movie starts. I had my popcorn in my lap and had to jump up, almost spilled it everywhere.
Small theater which isnt a bad thing in my opinion. We go often and enjoy it. Prices are crazy cheap. The air was out the last time we went but werent miserable.
Very friendly, clean, great prices. I enjoyed a 3D movie. Recommend.
If you are stuck on base good place to set a movie for cheap
Inexpensive ($4 standard showing), clean and friendly staff. Concession is also budget friendly with hot dogs, popcorn, soda, candy and nachos). Saw Mission Impossible recently and they started it promptly at the scheduled time, with one preview (so make sure you get there on time). There are some restrictions regarding persons admitted due to this being located on the military base (double check their website or call).
I mean Im cheap cheap!!! So this place is where I take the family when Im not trying to break the bank. You do have to wait a little bit for the new movies but I think its worth it. I pay under $50 for tickets and food here where at a AMC theater I would be spending that on tickets alone, so I definitely think its worth the wait. I like the nachos better here anyway
Very nice people work there
Really good price on concessions and the movies
Movies on base much cheaper than out in town. Snacks are cheaper too. I think there are only like 3 theaters. And they have free advance screening pretty often too
Very small and clean. It is a great outlet for the students on base and for family outings. There are arcade games and super cheap tickets and concessions. I love coming here!
Great place to see a movie at a reasonable price. The refreshments wont leave you broke. Must have military ID.
Small quaint theatre that gives a nice ticket price thanks to mwr
Such a nice venue for service people and their families.
One of the concession ladies couldnt speak english too well, i asked clearly for 4 tickets to a kid friendly movie that was showing and she shoved us 4 tickets to an adult movie and i didnt even complain about it because I dont think that she wouldve understood, so we just kept it moving.
Nothing like the new fancy cinemas, has the old stadium seating, but it is clean and the tickets and snacks are cheap. Good sound and video quality.
Old movies but very good prices
Its a cheap theater on base, cant complain
A little old, but not too bad. Our family enjoys the movies played here.
Great military gym...and a movie theater too.
Small theatre on NAS. Cant beat the price!
Its incredibly cheap and accessible.. I appreciate what they try to do for service members
Needs new movies not those that been out a while
Another great place
Nice movies to watch, good snacks nice area to hang out until movies are ready and friendly staff.
My A school was here right after boot camp in Great Lakes. I wasnt stationed here (Undesignated) so I was only here 6 weeks in the Lincoln barracks in 2003, seen Bad Boys 2 here for the 1st time Ill never forget this base
Its a great theatre with great prices. I had a chance to see Ride Along 2 before it even came out in theatres for free here! The snacks are more fairly priced then with other theatres and the people are nice here. There is also movie schedules and event lists here so go check it out!
Great prices in movies and very comfortable chairs in the theaters. The only problem I had was the lens on the projector didnt seem clean so our entire movie was foggy. Would recommend.
They were nice to us Even accommodating after we arrived late
Great, peaceful and the price was right.
Personal always respectful and friendly. Prices are great.
Great place to watch movies at the most affordable price possible. They do not have the huge Imax screens, just the normal sizes. You will pretty much be able to take your entire family to watch and buy food and drinks all for less than what it cost one person for a ticket food and drinks at the Cinemas out in town.
Good theaters, good prices.
Great quick service.
It was great for a base theatre. I was curious why they charge for movies when they are donated to the DoD. Many other bases dont
Prices are the big draw and free posters. You might get a good one.
Surprisingly clean for a theater on a naval base. The staff seems a bit inattentive at times but they still get the job done. The theaters themselves have great audio and picture. The nachos arent anything to write home about but the popcorn especially with butter salt gets an A+. One thing I dislike about this theater is that they get movies about two or three weeks later than the main theaters. Cant complain since its only $3 a person.
Love it great little movie theater
Great place.
Pleasurable time
Great theaters great service great food the best prices too!
Staff does an outstanding job
Very comfortable and the price is right.

Its an awesome little movie theater to just chill and watch a movie at a very considerable price and atmosphere.
Small but good prices.

Popcorn smells great when I go to the gym next door. 10/10 would smell again.
Great movies for an unbeatable price
My family of 3 can go see a movie and get snacks for about $12. Cant beat it!
Cheap prices, timely releases. Cant beat it.
