Awesome place to visit if your in the surrounding area. Parking and museum is free and there is lots to do and see in using a few virtual rides (not free) library and art museum, and Imax theater . I suggest entering at the blue angel Parkway entrance, they will redirect you if you use any other.

An absolute must if you’re in the area!!Especially on Tuesday or Wednesday the Blue Angels practice both days and it’s FREE! Plenty of seats and you’ll see their entire show up close. The museum is fantastic with a great restaurant inside. It’s an all day adventure so plan accordingly. Also all adults must bring ID to access this active military base.

My kids had a blast here and didnt want to leave after spending the entire day at the museum. Flight simulators were very reasonably priced and there were other activities to do that didnt cost extra. Best part was taking the trolley shuttle to the flight line to observe more aircraft, and planes taking off and landing, with a very knowledgeable and engaging staff member on the trolley. You can also see the Blue Angels training here on the bleachers they provide, when they are in town, based on their posted schedule.

This is such a cool museum!! You know its a great museum when you cant finish in one visit because there was so much stuff to look at! If I could give anybody a tip, it would be to wait until the tour guide starts up as they do a wonderful job going through many of the highlights of the plane. This minimizes the amount of reading which I think helps you get to see more before tiring out.

Great museum. No cost, but please sign in so they have proof that people come for funding purposes.Civilians can come through the west gate to get to it, but please check gate open times. They have simulators and many cockpits for guests to actually sit in or aircraft to actually get into. Many engines sitting around to nerd out over. Also a great place for ceremonies as they have a huge glass room with some of the older blue Angel airplanes hanging overhead.

This rating needs 10 stars. It is fantastic, it is free and it is amazing. More planes than I have ever seen in one place. You really really need to make it here. I am no Aviation fan but you have to love this Place run by volunteers that are doing a nothing less than excellent job! Thanks.

NOTE: I recommend to call ahead to verify which gate to use for entry as security changes have gone into effect. The back gate is on Blue Angel Parkway and the front gate (main gate) is on Navy Blvd. The National Museum of Naval Aviation is a wonderful place to take a family and is great for all ages. There is no charge to park as well as free entry. The exhibits are all free and some are hands-on too. The iMax and flight simulator do cost money as does the food/snack bar.It is a 2-story building with stairwells and an elevator. The newer building out back is a wonderful addition.Theres guided tours indoors, as well as the ability to ride the trolley/bus for a tour of the restricted areas around the Museum (complete with someone describing and narrating what you see and where yo go).If youre looking for a great place to visit where you can leisurely read, view, learn about and experience the history of Naval Aviation I highly recommend going here.Im Pensacola born & raised, Ive been here numerous times.... and I still get just as excited for each subsequent visit!

If you visit Pensacola, Fl this should be on your must do list. The Naval Aviation Museum is full of military history and the setting is unique and beautiful. The museum is fitting considering Pensacola is the cradle of naval aviation. The museum is great for all ages and most will leave happy and educated. There is also an IMAX theater that shows some great historical movies and documentaries.

I cannot say enough good things about the Naval Aviation Museum. I took my 7 year old son and wife and we had an absolute blast. It is free to get in, all funding by good ol Uncle Sam, and maintained VERY well. All kinds of great history to learn and you can see all the great aviation achievements of the Untied States.

Excellent place to go visit. Short drive from Gulf Shores Alabama and its FREE to get in! They do take donations but no one hounds you about it. Its inside a military base, so make sure that you know where you are going, because they will ask at the gate. Also bring shoes (not sandals) if you want to climb the light house close by.

We stayed in Pensacola the night before flying back to Madison so made a point to stop in at the air station to look around. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were greeted by the Thunderbirds doing a rare Sunday practice session. It was quite a thrill to say the least.Only regrets at the Museum were that we only had one day to visit and one of the hangers was closed for maintenance. The displays themselves were awe-inspiring and as a veteran, well, this place really got my heart pumping. We will definitely return.

Enormous, well-run museum with scores of restored aircraft, from biplanes to flying boats to modern fighters. Kind of a pain to get to from I-10, but well worth it. Admission is free, though youll want to drop a few bucks in the donation box. I wish the gift shop had more in the way of books - it was mostly t-shirts and trinkets.

This is probably one of my favorite museums. From when I went here on vacation as a kid, to visiting my parents just last week I still had to go. The aircraft on display are in IMPECCABLE condition, to the point where you would think you could gas em up and roll them out to the flight line behind the museum. That flight line, adding to the awesome of the museum is also used by none other than the Blue Angels. Often you can catch them practicing there for free - a perfect way to start a day at the museum! The staff is always friendly, and I have found this gift shop to be very affordable, which is surprising for a museum gift shop. Also, the Cubi cafe isnt a bad stop for some pre or post museum food.

(If 18+ bring id that is how you get in) I figured this was going to be an average museum but I was wrong. It was full of planes and helicopters old and new. You can go upsidedown!

Best Free Admission Aviation Museum in the USA. More exhibits to see and experience than the Smithsonian. Some caveats about getting on base. You must come in only by the West (back) gate and have a form of Government ID to show i.e. Drivers licence or State ID. Doors open at 9am and close at 5pm. Large IMAX show educational type movies and several simulators available to ride for a price. Greatest attraction in Pensacola.
