Relaxing quiant lake, there is a short hike down... Definitely not ADA accessible. Dont forget your fishing license.
Bear canyon lake is beautiful. The road to get there is really really rough, take it slow and expect it to take a while. The parking lot is sufficient, but not huge. The hike down is not very long but has a few steep spots. I had to help my 3 year old most of the time, but my 6 year old was just fine. People were swimming and fishing. The shoreline was ok, but if the water level were raised it wouldnt have a lot of flat area to set while on the shore.
Lovely camp ground! Enjoyed our stay immensely.
Gorgeous saw elk and does...and wild turkey!
Loved it there, only down side is i had to come home
Awesome just bring sun block
I dont know what it is about this one lake that brings in the nasty, human trash. After a weekend all the spots at the base of the trail are covered in garbage. On the plus side the trail around the lake is nice and a 15 min walk in either direction will quickly take you out of range of the people who are to lazy to pick up after themselves.
On a 4th of July...it was So lovely..good fishing...Great camp area.
Bear Canyon lake was kinda disappointed. the lake water is great but people left some fishing lines and hook on sands and in water. i would suggest water shoe and life jacket are required for kids under 12 so if you plan on boating with no machine. theres fishes and crawdad lobster.
One of my favorite places to escape the heat.
My son and I were on a camping trip and we really enjoyed this site.
Filthy and disgusting. This area is over populated by weekend warriors and apparently not managed by the Forest service during the weekend
Nice place for family to fish.
Water level was down. About an 8 minute hike to the lake, some areas rough, some easy.
Hard to get to and you have to hike in but go for it. The challenge is worth it
Beautiful. Just beautiful. My first memories of camping as a child are riddled with images of this lake. I remember hunting grasshoppers as a little boy, hoping to use one as bait to catch a big rainbow trout to eat for dinner. My dad taught me how to clean and gut the fish, and then my mother would grill them with a little bit of butter and squirt some lemon on it just as it was ready to be served.Im now thirty years old, and I still have the red and white fishing pole that I used back then to catch my first fish. Bear Canyon Lake is a magical place that I will always return to.
Beautiful, great fishing and camping spot
Was a great camping experience
Even when busy it is fun
Nice place but the hike to get down to the water is unstable and very uneven. Had a child fall and roll down at one part.
I camp near here at least twice a year just so I can enjoy this beautiful lake and its surrounding woods. Amazing.
If you are a true camping person then this place needs to be on your bucket list for sure, amazing place, great camp sites with a short walk to the lake but very breath taking.
Nice, secluded spot for fishing depending on the time of day.
Worth the walk to escape the Woods Canyon crowds. Come in the off-season and watch the eagles fish.
Great time
Such a beautiful place
