I had such a great time at Armand Bayou today!! It is such a beautiful place. I really enjoyed the boardwalk, which has educational signs and a bird blind. Unfortunately a lot of the nature center is currently closed, but you can still walk around, see the bison (!!), and enjoy your time. I saw two alligators here today!
Its very nice place to hike and see the outdoors. Most of the buildings are closed due to the pandemic. I saw a buck while I was there. It would be great if they opened early in the morning and stayed open later. There hours of operation is when most of the animals are bedded down during the mid day sun.
We enjoy the park so we volunteer there. The prairie soaks up heavy rains, even that from the heaviest storms. Virtually no flooding occurs between the park and NASA road 1. The trails are long and quiet.
It was our first time today, my girls and my friends enjoyed the park. The weather was perfect. We practically had the park to ourselves. The trails are clean and you have a nice view all throughout the walk. One of the ladies we met said that the Lady bird trail has a dead end, so you might want to avoid that trail, unless you dont mind walking back. The boat house is closed, no boats are being rented. However, I did see a guy on his boat, but it could have been his own.The restrooms are CLEAN and has AC! Thats a big plus for me :)The staff are nice and very helpful. The Martyn Farms was wonderful. We walked around the whole area. A few spots werent open, like the farm house, but we still loved walking around and looking at the nice view. We ended up at the Bison house ( they had 2 huge bisons) it was fun watching them eat grass lol!!Stay along the trails only, dont go inside the woody areas. If you decide to go...Have Fun!!Please read all the signs and do not go in the staff only area. Also, there is a fee to enter. Go to their website for admission and times.
This place is a great place to take a walk or have fun with your kids! There are 3 walking trails around a mile each that have benches along the trails. There are multiple places to try and spot alligators and I saw plenty of wildlife while I was there. There is an area to learn about different reptiles and a platform to see the bison and so much more! Highly recommend and the people are so friendly. Plenty of parking available.
ABNC is such a jewel in our area. My kids are homeschooling this year and have been taking the Friday morning classes here. They are both so happy every time they go and they count down the days until Friday. The learning is so hands on, and there is a great range of topics they learn about. Thank you guys for such an amazing program!
Staff was nice, the sights were pretty cool, but its a pretty small park. I enjoyed looking at the old lookin house, barn, chicken coop, ect. Id like it a whole lot more if bikes were allowed. This is a great place to bring younger kids for sure
Love this place, just enough out of the city to be quiet. Not very busy either. It would be a great thing to pair with NASA for a day trip.
Probably was beautiful, I wouldnt know as didnt take the nature walk as I didnt want to pay $6 per person, not sure why nature is even being privatized
Great place to spend with kids. Many things for kids to see and touch. Make sure to bring water and snacks.
Such a fun spot to do a little day hiking and get some fresh air in your lungs. Good critter watching, can always catch a glimpse of a little armadillo rooting around in the dirt or a snake or alligator or some turtles chilling. Love this place. I like the old house and workshops on the property too, really charming to see, really takes you back to another place and time in American culture.
Enjoyed a nice walk. Would have appreciated more distance markers and route maps along the way.
Went on a night hike with the family. Guides where great and the kids where very engaged. Awesome!
Cold wet day. The park was beautiful and deserted. Spent hours exploring.
We love Armand Bayou! I take the kids kayaking here with my girlfriend. Everyone has a great time when we do!
Its nature at its finest. Great place if you love walking trails.
So many mosquitos bring a can of insect repellent if you want your experience to be even remotely enjoyable. We didnt last 30 minutes personally they were just swarming us. We will try again when winter rolls around.
I came here a long time ago whenever I was a kid and now I am 24 years old. A friend of mine and I were talking about zoos (which I’m not fond of but that’s an entirely different discussion) and I remembered how cool ABNC is because they have animals that are more or less “free” or in a somewhat normal habitat and are well taken care of. When I went, my grandmother and I got to see one of those gazelle type animals give live birth which was amazing! I remember a longhorn named Lightning and also a few friendly Emu’s or Ostriches. Outside of the fencing, you honestly cannot tell you are in an area surrounding the 4th largest city in the US. I highly recommend this place.
Very interesting little park just inside the city with wildlife and walking paths and stuff. i did not expect it to be as super cool as it is!
This is a beautiful park tucked into Houston! The trails can be a little muddy, so be prepared for that but theyre all easy and flat and have lots of comfortable places to take a break. There are discounted entry for public servants and students. Everyone I spoke to was very gracious, helpful and happy to share the park with us.
Great hike! Even my mom came with us and she had a walker, it rained but we continued the hike, we will definitely be back!
Love this nature center. Everyone is so nice and willing to answer all of our questions. Great place to unwind and walk for hours. Had no idea how big this place really was (over 2,000 acres!).
Love taking my kids! A small patch of peace in the city! Last time we went the Golden Orb Weaver spiders were out. So many spiders, but beautiful creatures.
We had a nice relaxing walk around the park. Highly suggested to get away from all electronics.
Nice place to walk; however, i did not see any animals, i believe 6 dollars is to much for each person, where does the money goes
We completed a cub scout requirement here called Into the Woods. The boys and parents had a great time and our guide was excellent and patient with active boys. She did a wonderful job of keeping them on track and redirecting when necessary. We learned about some of their native reptiles and trees. Bring boots if its been raining!
Beautiful place to get away to quickly
Great way to learn where we are at and how the water works for life, ours and creatures around it.
Great place to go and get away from everything for a bit. Its well kept and beautiful!
I I love the trails here beautiful spot. Highly recommend.
This place is a quiet break from the noisy city. They have three trails to hike that have a nice view of the bayou generally half way through. They also have a few other fun things to check out. Its only 4$ per person to get in and even cheaper for children I believe. This place is a great place to bring your children to burn off some energy.
The Armand Bayou Nature Preserve was really great! The walking trails are kept up very well and it was easy to get around. We saw a lot of wildlife including a couple deer that were about 20 ft from us!
Nice place to bring the kids to explore and learn about the animals .Love the trails and all the animals you will see around the way.
Armadillos and mosquitoes everywhere. Nice place
I was incredibly impressed by ABNC. I cant believed Id never been before. The walking trails, animal ambassadors, kind and knowledgeable volunteers and staff, were superb. My 4 and 1 year olds loved it but were a bit worn out in the 88*F and 1mi walk. Should have packed a lunch. Also, I facilitate office retreats as a part of my job and Ill definitely look into booking their retreat space in the future.
Love the Nature Center! It’s a beautiful place to spend time outdoors. Miles of trails to explore and lots to see and do. I love to walk the trails and see the wild life. It’s so relaxing to get away and be close to nature without the long drive. There are activities too - pontoon boat rides, guided hikes (even night hikes!), and classes for kids. Plenty of volunteer activities, too, so come get involved!
Perfect place for long hikes in the woods; nice place to relax near the Martyn Farm; and sometimes you can see the bisons (if they decide so, of course!).
Nice trails, brimming with wildlife, peaceful scenic views, but be prepared to become a mosquitos banquet! Pack your repellent, folks!
What a great way to spend the morning - exploring ABNC! Bring water and spray for mosquitoes!
Four dollars person. Well worth it. Beautiful place to hike. Love the history. Wont be disappointed.
Great place for visiting any day during the week. You can see gators too.
Looked great. Chose not to go because it would cost us $20 for our family to enter and walk around. Didn’t expect to have to pay!
We went here to meet up with a Blacksmithing group and it was a lot of fun! We learned a lot and got see a few Bison before we left for the day.
Not expensive. 3 different trails to walk that will take at least 30 min if not more to finish. Visit the Martyn house, and older homestead. Its like a blast from the past. If you love nature and outdoors this is a great place to visit.
A nice way to experience nature in the Houston area. Nice walking tails. Lots of information posted arounf the center so youu can learn a little something while youre here too.
We took visitors from out-of-town on the sunset pontoon boat ride. It was fantastic! We saw alligators, a bobcat, and lots of birds. All while sitting comfortably, gliding through the bayou, with expert guides and friendly people. For only $20 each. Highly recommended!
In a sea of cement in the Clear Lake Area, this wonderful urban preserve is waiting for all of us. Wow! There is so much wildlife out around the bayou. The hiking is great. The staff is so knowledgeable. What a way to de-stress and enjoy the day. Highly recommend the pontoon boat tour.
Most take the family!! Sundays they close early. Beautiful beautiful beautiful.
Launched kayaks at the boat ramp. It needs to be cleaned off hyacinth because ramp is slippery and dangerous but once in the water, its always great! Yes, this is actually Bay Area Park
It was a nice place to fish and relax.
San Jac took us here for a field trip for Biology II. We collected plant samples and identified them in the lab. I enjoyed the trip, although it is a little muddy in the fall. I would suggest wearing waterproof shoes if you plan on going on the trails, and bringing bug spray.
Nice flat trails. Today the trails had impassable sections due to recent rains. Very pleasant anyway just have to come prepared for the conditions.
A great place to spend an exciting day
Wonderful place to get a little into nature. Bring the bug spray!!!!
An oasis in the Greater-Houston area. If you have never been, it is well worth the trip. Nice hiking, wildlife, and friendly staff. Our kids absolutely love the place! One of a kind.
Very cool trails for observing wildlife. Be prepared for muddy paths!
Piece of nature it was peaceful and beautiful. Hiked the Martyn trail and got some great photos.
Fantastic nature preserve.
Its interesting
A very nice park, to have a picnic or just for the kids to play at the playground .
I liked the park. Saw frog, snake, alligator, turtle, and recently hatched dragon fly
Great place to experience local flora/fauna
Attended NOLS wilderness first aid training here. Beautiful nature and nice facilities...
Great place to go even with kids to see some nature and go for a nice quiet walk!
Nice trails. Kids love the bison!
Always such a gorgeous experience. Guides are very helpful, kind, and informative. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. Inexpensive and fun for kids.
Best place to take the kids outdoors.
Very nice outdoors area in Pasadena. Its a little bit out of the way, but worth the drive.Really liked the traditional blacksmithing setup.
Nice place to go for a long walk. wooded and wetlands and great taste of wild nature close to home.
Nothing better leave your cell an home no wifi needed just beautiful outdoor activities an wildlife
Very quiet and so much wildlife to see. We didnt get to go into the Farm house because they close at 4p but rest assured, well be the coming weekend to get the tour.
Hidden gem. Nice trails for all ages. Take the kids here for a nice work and scenery. Bring a lunch or snack as the center offers many good picnic areas with scenic views.
My son spent 2 hours speaking with the person that takes care of the animals and is a lover of all-things aquatic. He was quite pleased with her knowledge and love for what she does.
Enjoyed or little hike. The gentleman who was in the farm house was very nice and a pleasure to talk to.
Great place for spending time as a family learning about the plants and wildlife in the area.
It was fun Kayaking for 4.21 miles. We saw two gators. They were harmless.
Three walking trails and a main toure. You can see a lot of wild life: alligators, cardinals, rabbits and snakes to name a few. My favorite was the farmhouse. This house was built in 1895 and is equipped with all house appliances and furniture that was used at the time. My 5-year old daughter saw an old typewriter and said that was their way of texting . They had a section for reptiles where you can see five different types of snakes. I took a picture of a spider that was eating a dragonfly. A great place for families and school field trips.
Really enjoyed exploring this place! They offer many fun learning activities.
Wonderful place.
Small but very nice trail. Friendly staff lots of wildlife
It was fun and amazing walk
Awesome place to bring the kids. My 3 year old loves water and was stoked the whole time...
No problem! Love the place.
Enjoyed the night time walk
Still a lovely place for hiking. Several trails and many exhibits to enjoy.
Wonderful programs for kids and adults alike, well-maintained trails and facilities, and overall just an awesome, scenic place to experience. I love to visit with my kids.
Beautiful, easy hikes. Lot of the trails are wet, bring appropriate footwear
I discovered this place 30 years ago when my daughter was in kindergarten. It is great and is always getting better. Trails through the woods. Views of the bayou. Osprey. Egrets. Herons. Roseate Spoonbills. Alligators. Snakes. Frogs. Turtles. Deer. Bison. Bald Eagles. Its got some terrific educational programs. And wildlife demonstrations. Plus theres this historic farm onsite where a festival is held every fall...you get to ride in a horse drawn wagon, see a working blacksmith, churn butter, make soap, watch syrup being made from sugar cane...and so forth and so on. The largest urban nature preserve in the country is right here in our backyard! Check it out.
Great spot to put in kayaks and get a little fresh air.
This was a pretty park. The demonstration farm is well maintained. Walking trails have lots of orb weaver spiders in the early morning, so be prepared. Also, wear long sleeves or use bug spray as the mosquitoes will get you. The trails are shady. Dont go alone, have some company.
Beautiful short hikes, knowledgeable staff. The local Bison are not shy.
We love going here i only wish there was more places like this in houston. Great place! But no camping
