The inside of this theater is absolutely gorgeous. Everything about this place is very classic and elegant. Ive been here for two sing-a-longs: Beauty and the Beast and The Sound of Music, and before the shows I could not stop scanning the intricacies of the space. The high rustic ceilings, the pillars, the organ...theres everything for the eye.
Though i was ecstatic that Laemmle had opened a unit in Glendale it has not proven to be what i had hoped.Early weekend showings have been cancelled and whoever is programming the films in Glendale seems to be intent on driving Glendalians away rather than to its new theater. So i have cleaved onto the Pasadena unit as i have done for the last number of years. Today i saw a South American film in very familiar surroundings and i felt at home and at ease.Laemmle Pasadena is and has always been all about showing the best available of whatever Independent films are out there. The employees are personable and helpful and the Popcorn is the best in town. Prices are ridiculously low on the weekends early shows (8 bucks!) as well as the stuff in the concession stand.Sound and film projection is always top notch. Parking on Sundays in Pasadena is free on the street and there is a lot a block away for a buck an hour.Maybe Glendale will get it together but i have a sneaky feeling that the normal Laemmle spirit has deflated and moves elsewhere. Sad.
Beautiful place to watch movies. Great seating . Always comfortable there. Snack prices are crazy per usual - and expected.
The Laemmles Playhouse 7 is a near perfect place. The first time I went was to see Vertigo. It was also a perfect introduction to Los Angels for me.I also went for the Found Footage Festival Meets Everything Is Terrible Sketchfest show, and this was the perfect venue for crazy old videos.Im super excited for the Noir City film festival this weekend, and Im keeping a look out for any upcoming shows where they use their organ.
Attended a fabulous Red Carpet Premiere, Gray is the New Blonde. This event was well attended and pretty exciting. Wish I would have taken more pictures but I with so awestruck with all the beautiful women with gray hair featured in the document as well as those who attended this beautiful event. This was truly one of the highlights of 2020.
I love the Leammle Theatres and I want to support them all I can. But really, the seats are very old and are really hard on my back. So I want to go often and I hope they can raise enough to replace the seats to be more comfortable and better equipped to support an old guy like me for the 1 or 2 hours of a movie. I have got to stop going after dinner so I can enjoy some of that delicious smelling popcorn!
Fantastic location! Love that they show foreign films & the less mainstream movies, which to me are more interesting!Only complaint are the seats that arent very comfortable. Otherwise, great place!
I came here to see the premier of Judy, and was extremely impressed with my visit. Their tickets are incredibly affordable for an independent theater and their concessions are very fairly priced. They have cool selections like cold brew coffee and cookies in addition to your traditional popcorn, candy and drinks. I loved coming here and can’t wait to come back again.
Great theater! The staff is friendly and attentive. Their is always something interesting to watch. The popcorn is delicious and they always keep the seasoning stand stocked. I love the old school feel to the theater.
Love this theatre chain. Best Indy movies, reasonable prices for admission and concessions. Glad theres one in Glendale now so I have two locations to choose from.
I love the movie selection they have here. I wish there was one closer to where I live in Los Feliz. But I do love Pasadena and love any reason to go there
Makes great popcorn! Also not so crowded like the other theaters. Sat for 3 hours & watched the Irishman! Great movie
This is the absolute center of the universe for aficionados of the cinemagraphic arts. Its also great for us slobs who love movies. Films up the yin-yang. The choicest cuts. Hollywood ground zero.... In Pasadena! Wherever it is youre going tonight, can that poop and instead treat yourself to a night at the laemmle. Your brain and your heart will smile.
Old fashion theater, this is the place to go for independent films. Ticket prices are reasonable, snacks were reasonable as well. Had to look for parking, there is a lot behind the theater; just be aware of the one way streets.
Nice artsy movie selection and occasional hallway gallery. They need some more low-carb option concessions.
Very good selection of movies if you want something other than the Hollywood blockbusters.
A small but very great place to see more obscure films.
Terrific movies are played here, most of which cannot be seen in other theater chains.
I was not expecting the theater screening areas to be small and I now know to be mindful of attendees.
Best popcorn and they dont charge for extra flavors.
Clean overall. Good seating. Parking in rear is good.
Laemmles is the place to go for independent and foreign films in the San Gabriel Valley. Parking in Pasadena can be difficult, but there is a lot just one block north for just $1 per hour. Another plus? They are next door to Vromans Bookstore, so you get a two-fer, great films and great books!
I heard this theatre is being sold. Im so sad about it. This place shows a great selection of independent films. They also have some special viewing events with Q&A.
The best theater in town for those low-key yet amazing indie films that always seem to fly under everyones radar. And them prices aint bad either!
Great location! Comfortable seating! Friendly & courteous staff! Food fresh & tastey!
Great film selection, great theater experience, best popcorn in town.
Great movies you cant find elsewhere. Best popcorn out of any theater.
Everything is dated. EVERYTHING. The chairs are those stadium seats with visible dust. They squeak. There is bare concrete for floors. Bathroom decor is dated. The only redeeming quality is the screen and audio is adequate.
This is our go-to arthouse! We see great films at Laemmles.
Friendly, clean, comfy seats, reasonable price, and fun. Loved the ads for the Dec singalongs
Great movies play here in an okay theater.
I like indie films and quality commercial films. My go to theater especially budget matinees.
I can always find a movie with a global influence here. They also have culturally relevant topics in a Documentary format. Occasionally they feature films that are taped live concerts ~ i.e. operas or theatrical stage performances. I have viewed several Sundance film productions here and look forward to a broad selection of movie choices almost every week! Thankful for this movie theaters existence.
Still a great place to watch arthouse, Indy and first-run movies that have left the first run theaters
Great theater. Really good popcorn.
Good Movie theater. Cosy and comfortable.
Love this old school theater. They always have great movies.
Graet friendly place to watch Independent Movies, the best...
Theres no parking other than street parking or lot parking down the street.Theater is clean. Staff is pleasant. Atmosphere is movie theater-ish. No complaints. I went to see a matinee, so my daytime experience was good.
Saw a Doors documentary here. It was a good experience.
Movie Cinema at its classic. Laemmles last of its kind. Independent movies, ambiance as simple as it gets. Great place for date....seats are another thing, but whos complaining. Support. Next Door you have Vromans Book store....get a good read after or before movie. Popcorn, Drink, Pretzel, and Red Vines as you hold hands with your date.
Glad there still here interesting movies
I love the independent film culture. This is the place to see those efforts in the best theater environment for them. Decent prices and good space, nice people working in BO and counters.
Old school cinema. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Old skool feel to it but nice.
I had a great time! Thanks.
I love it! It had been my favorite movie teather since it opens. I formed small group of friends that come once a week on Wed. We loved your choices of mainly fotreign movies at discounted prices. Thank you!
One of the chiller movie theaters around. The crowd that goes here seems to be more relaxed than average movie goers at bigger theaters. Never been in a showing where someone was talking. They focus on more independent movies so if the movie youre looking for isnt at a bigger theater it might be here. There is a parking lot located directly behind the theater so parking is easy. Concession stand prices are also a little lower than most movie theaters. MoviePass is accepted here.
This is our local, walking distance, movie theater. They have a very interesting collection of films youre not likely to see in the chain theaters. There is a discounted price for seniors during the daytime. One negative though, is they really need to update the seats. Recommended
This theater has stairs that go down as if youre going into a bunker where the movie theaters are. If you dont get claustrophobic then youll love lammles because of their selection of independent cinema. For Quality films that wont be available anywhere else in San Gabriel Valley you cant find a better place than Lee nor the surrounding area which is called the playhouse District and is filled with great restaurants, history, culture, and everything sophisticated City should have.
Great place for date night. Its refreshing to have small indie theatres like this that help support them.
This was originally a 5-star but after an employee named JORDAN made me feel super uncomfortable and kept making me feel bad for something in which NO RULE WAS BROKEN (and he kept trying to make me feel awful!) I WONT BE COMING BACK HERE ANYMORE. A manager named James had to intervene and apologized for the awful interaction that left me in tears. Other patrons even checked in on me after witnessing tje ordeal.
Our go to place for Art house movies. Clean and simple. An adult crowd who come to see the film not goof around.
Best Movie Theater in the neighbor️
Free parking nearby, great selection of films not widely distributed. Seating is crowded however with small, narrow seats. If you are looking for todays huge reclining barcoloungers in large stadium theaters, go somewhere else.
What a great little theater for indie films and art shows. The Laemmles really have an affinity for type of film that isnt destined for billions of revenue, but do deserve an audience who are cinephilesJust went there to attend their Laemmle Live event that hosts live music. Again I cant say enough how the Laemmles help out the arts, whether its film or now music. Thank you
Popcorn is delicious, and a good place to watch indie movies, animation, etc.
Cheap movie tickets with no frills theater.
Nice old theater in Pasadena and lots of nice stores and restaurants in close by
I enjoy supporting this theater, and its in a pretty central location. They show a lot of movies other theaters dont, which I like. If you every want to see that random documentary, theyre sure to be playing it. No stadium seating at least in the theaters Ive been in. Parking can be tough, but street parking always seems to work out.
Beautiful theater. Beautiful area. Great for date night!
Friendly, efficient staff, and great popcorn.
REAL MOVIES, you most likely will never see fast and furious XVI here, but you will most likely see something that will make you laugh, cry, and maybe even think a little. Usually never a long wait, everything is always clean and the staff very friendly. Seats are not quite as comfy as big name large theatres...but still not bad, still food enough for a 5 star...Ill be back, you should check it out
Leg room is awful. Other than that it was ok. Plus they were all out of most ice cream products.
We enjoy watching movies here. Great foreign and indie movies that few theaters are viewing. Parking is challenge - no free parking.
I enjoy going to the Laemmle.
Very avant gard movie selections often with a short run. Excellent staff. Good prices. Clean place. But smallish screens.
Ticket prices are always low. Wednesday they have a senior discount night. They run mainstream movies but they also run really good foreign films.
A beautiful little theatre constantly playing all the best foreign, indie, and art films out today. The theatres are all small and intimate which adds to the charm. Do note that the seats in the theatres are far from the luxurious lounge chairs that are in most of the movie theatres in the area now; just old, sttandard, fold-up bottom, slightly rickety theatre seats here. That being said, I wouldnt have it any other way. A great, fully engrossing movie experience in a beautiful old theatre.
Great movies, friendly staff, comfy environment
Pleasant workers, with a clean and well maintained facility. Im glad they dont butter the salted pretzels, because a lot of places do, and its not as tasty as a result. Not too loud, in terms of movie volume, its just right.
Best little movie theater in Pasadena! Great classics, foreign and indie films!!
My favorite movie theater. Saw Paris can Wait. Lovely, romantic, just what I needed on this hot day. Came out smiling and there was Jazz being played in the courtyard. Thats good living to me
Love that they have films that you would not get to see at Edwards or Regal movie theaters.
This the only place in town that has good movies. I mean if you dont want all that main stream crap. Its the last movie theater in Pasadena that hasnt sold its soul for the big movies. I hope this place never goes away. The movies are one of a kind thoughtful and provoking small interesting films. Definitely not for your TV couch surfer looking for the bid stars but someone who thinks for themselves and wants a quality movie.
The seats are very old, and not comfortable..Bottom line the theater needs cleaning and upgradede! Im very disappointed.
Small, intimate low key theater. The best Indies and grown ups movies. No super heros here
Always great to come back to this great theater and enjoy some fresh and beautiful films. Totally recommend and worth it.
Movie theatre located in heart of Pasadena. Many artsy or independent limited release films shown here. There is a rotating exhibit of local artists in the hallways leading to the individual theaters. Clean. Good service. Comfortable seats. Easy to find parking. And when youve finished watching your movie, plenty of food and shopping surrounding it.
Nice theater in Pasadena. Very good independent films as opposed to higher priced mainstream theaters that run more corporate style Hollywood movies. Better clientele too. No riff Raff.
The last time I was there to see a film, the seating wasnt very good, and I think the air conditioner was broken. So why would I give it five stars? Because this is the kind of movie theater that makes it easy to ignore those things. This theater is definitely a throwback to the past. Its in a great location, they have lots of great films, and the prices are reasonable.
The Laemmle Pasadena plays some films you cannot find at large venues. They have the BEST popcorn around, even providing free flavor powders to shake over it and they provide free ice water as well. The theater capacities are small, but it makes the experience more intimate.
God bless Carl Laemmle.
My daughter who loves art! And we contribute to her passion wanted to watch Loving Vincent, the movie excellent! The venue nice except for the seats they are horrible. Very uncomfortable, other than that seeing my daughter enjoying the movie was awesome!.
Its a nice Get away
A great place to see a movie. Small theaters with comfortable seats. Shows the highest quality films and foreign & classic ones. A company that is morally conscious and displays it in their theaters.
Great old theater in a nice location. Would give it 5 stars but the sound quality isnt up to par.
Great movies! Uncomfortable seats!
Torn. Great selection of films that you wouldnt see anywhere else, but stinky, low-run theater environment. How does a place like this stay in business? Go there to support.
One of my favorite theatres
While they do show more mainstream movies occasionally, the heart and soul of the Laemmle chain are independent films. Often times this or another Laemmle location are the only places you can find something showing. This is a great location. In a fun neighborhood to spend time in before your movie or to hang out in to talk about what you have just seen. Compared to other movie chains the prices for tickets and food are reasonable.
This is my all-time favorite theatre! Only no nonsense movies are found here. If youre looking for independent and foreign movies about real life... this is the theatre to come to! oh & not to mention delicious popcorn & coffee too!!
Great theater for foreign and independent films. Never very crowded, weekday discounts.
Wonderful movies.wish the seats were more comfy
Showing the best short run independent films, plus some bigger films too, in cozy Pasadena. They often show wonderful art & foreign films that only run for one weekend. I love going for the Sat or Sun 11am screenings.
