Great park, several boardwalks/hiking trails, dog park, boat launch, fishing piers, a lot of picnic shelters and tables, recreational areas for volleyball and softball. We never fail to see deer, an assortment of birds, an abundance of squirrels, and usually a gator or two when we visit. Park is well maintained and well worth the 30 minute drive for me.
Absolutely a great find. 45 minutes from the Tampa region, this park is a real beauty! We weren’t there 5 minutes and saw a Doe and her baby only to see another set 5 minutes later. Turtles, snakes, alligators, alll kinds of bird and beautiful Lake Tarpon. The playgrounds we were nice and the bathrooms were clean. Many county employees could be seen working hard keeping up with the never ending task of maintaining the trails and general beautification efforts. I’m so glad we decided to take a drive and give the park a try. Well with it!
If you want enjoy wild life animals in park this is the one of the best place in Tampa area. You can find baby gators, lots of squirrels, bunch of deer’s, turtles and snake bird. Boardwalk is very good you feel like watching in jungle. Shelters are very nice and enough distance between each shelter. Parking is free. I find this place is amazing.
Something for everyone! Playgrounds, dog park, ball field, bench swings, walking trails, boardwalk, butterfly garden, boat ramp, shelters of various sizes throughout the park with distinctly different views (#10 is on Lake Tarpon) and wildlife non pulsed by our presence. Dusk is the perfect time to walk, as the deer are most active.
Beautiful park. We went today bc the weather was so nice. It was quite the day! We saw a myriad of birds, an alligator, several curious squirrels, an armadillo and on our way out, several deer. I highly suggest making a trip. Even if you dont see all the wildlife we did, youre guaranteed a lovely view of the lake and a beautiful boardwalk to walk along to take it all in.
This park is my Happy Place. Wish it was closer to home (8 mi) but it is so worth the drive. While walking on the boardwalk I see woodpeckers and deer. The deer comes close enough to take pics. Love this place! Beautiful views of the water and the whole park is maintained and clean!
Clean lots of parking. Lots of picnic tables some in shelters and many more out in the open. Nice boardwalks next to the lake. Warnings for gators and snakes but we saw none today. Deer are there but none spotted today. The only wildlife I saw was a couple of grey squirrels. I will definitely go back there again for walking an nd a picnic lunch. They have a large play area for children with swings and slides
Love this park! Where else can you go from woodlands, to marshes, to beautiful lake side views. Being a photographer I find this place amazing. Have seen everything from deer to gators. And birds unlimited. Even the Tuft Titmouse will eat seeds right out of your palm. The board walks are all in excellent condition. Even though it is in the middle of Palm Harbor, you do not feel like you are in a city. And try some of the amazing education programs they offer, like bird photography, nature walks, etc. Great place just to get away for a while.
I am from Maryland and found this park by mistake in my travels looking for different places to take photographs of Wildlife in the area . WHAT A FIND after only a few hours I had numerous pictures of various wildlife woodpeckers, Hawks, squirrelss deer, butterfly, dragonfly. Most of the park is easily wheelchair acceptable accessible and shaded. Cant wait to go back tomorrow will have more pictures and more review but by far I would recommend it to anyone
A must see in Tampa Area if you enjoy wild life and cool dog parks. My children love the 2 playground areas as well. We have seen alligators, turtles, butterflies, snakes, deer, and more running free. Incredibly beautiful park that we are so happy it is free for us to enjoy!
Awesome park with kids activities. Abundant wildlife. Saw many deers. You will easily find parking even on busiest day.
Beautiful park. Lots of deer and other wildlife. There are many picnic tables and pavillions both on the water and throughout the park. Several parks and trails to see. My mom go married here and it was very nice for a smaller ceremony.
This immediately became my family’s favorite park in the Tampa Bay Area. Upon entering the park, we immediately saw deer for two consecutive visits. The wildlife delivers here. Don’t come without binoculars or camera. Worth the drive from southern Pinellas County.
Very nice park indeed. Lots of wildlife to photograph, some of it quite unafraid of people, and rather pestering and following people for long periods, so PLEASE don’t feed the wildlife .I believe it could be of MUCH help if there were some sort of signals/maps within some stretches of the trail (“You are HERE” type of maps/messages) to better give people a sense of orientation, since cell phone signal seems spotty due to water proximity.
This park is so beautiful, lots of trails, lots of wildlife, dog park, covered picnic areas, lake, so much to see will be back for sure
Beautiful park! We always see so many deer here.
Home in park form. Youll see wildlife, friends, family and pooches. Reserve a hit and enjoy the natural beauty around you, hike the trails, see the deer and wildlife, and relax in a beautiful kept park.
Epic and amazing park with so many alligators and deer, our kids and us were so happy to see so much wildlife. Beautiful boardwalks through swamps.
A shady oasis in an ever-more-populated county. Great trails for strolling and a nice boardwalk along the water. And I really appreciate how the staff cares for this park and lets nature do its thing as much as possible!
Lived up to the expectations. The park is free. Place is well kept and beautiful. There is a small kids play area too. Leash free dog park (enclosed) is there at the place too. The boardwalks are quite picturesquely and serene. A great place to relax and blend with the nature.
Great place for everyone: playgrounds for kids, lots of places to relax and watch the nature, great trails for walking or jogging. All amenities are upkept, bathrooms are clean. My kids love it here.
First time for us to enjoy the great natural surroundings. Wow. The boardwalks are phenomenal. They are spacious in design and enabled us to walk through the forest without getting wet while watching the wildlife. We’ll return
This one of the best park I visited in Tampa. Calm place with awesome sceneries and well maintained. You can go for a half day picnic which has dog park, children play area, base ball ground, walking trail, watch tower and beautiful nature
Great trail along Lake Tarpon and through the woods. There are playgrounds for kids and a nice dog park. It is a must visit if you like parks.
Nice sand trail with lot of wildlife. Gators, deers, birds. Nice breezy boardwalk too. Lake pier is nice place to sit and observe boats and I feel like it is one of the best place to see sunset
I loved this park. So much nature to see. Florida is wet and there are areas that may be muddy so your shoes may get a bit muddy so be prepared. However there are also bridges that cover the bodys of water. There is paved roads for walking, running or biking but cars also use these roads so just be aware. There is also a dog park. This is my new favorite park!
A wonderful escape to creation with excellently constructed and maintained boardwalks and facilities. Great for a stroll in a Cypress wetland and for boats ng on a beautiful freshwater lake.
Wonderful huge park. We see many alligators turle,, and many more attraction.
My first time there. It was a beautiful park. I saw They have spots for parties and picnics that you could rent out. I would definitely return.
Very nice park. It has walking trails that lead through what appeared to be actual nature undisturbed. There are also paths to ride a bike and there is even a dog park fenced off area. This is my new favorite park!
This us a gorgeous park with lots of big oaks and pines for shade and beautiful walkways, picnic areas and seating. Theres a really nice dog park with water, a kiddie pool, hose off station, trash cans and plenty of shade. This park has lake access for boats as well as strolling paths along the lakes. There is also a very big play area for kids although I think thats closed for Covid. Theres also a big field that is set up for playing sports. Around sunset you can see deer grazing. This makes for a great destination for taking photos.
This is such a lovely little park with plentiful nature of animals and plants to see. I especially love it when you see the little armadillos running around with what looks to be their body armor on. I cant recommend this park enough, if you are in the area you have to stop by. I promise you wont regret it!
Park is beautiful, been there numerous times. The abandoned boat is a eye sore at the boat ramp confused why its there. Is it part of a dont boat and drink campaign. Also has park considered if needed a Bass restocking program. Also shoes being left on the ground at boat ramp? Could be worse could be pants. Lol.
A premier park with Tarpon Springs Lake as a backdrop. It has boat docks, several play areas (one close to the water), a volleyball court, shaded scenic trails lined with benches, a look out tower and ample gazebos. A walkers paradise, many of the trails are decoratively enclosed and wind over water. You could see all types of wild life ( birds, aquatic animals etc.). Nature is not afraid to come close to you (looking to be fed). Check it out...it is worth it!
Very scenic and relaxing. Big lake for kayaking...
I love this park, especially the front near the boat ramps called Peggy Park. Lots of trails and boardwalks to keep you motivated at walking. Lots of wild life make appearances. In general, this park is huge with a lot of amenities for families and singles a like.
Beautiful grounds, saw a deer within minutes. Bathroom I used was clean. New favorite park!
Wonderful trails, ample parking, dog park, boat launch, playgrounds, lots of shelters.Beautiful views lots of wildlife.
That place to eat a good junk food..I am giving 3 stars because they need to have a better air extraction system. Other than that is good.
Omg...past time ever the squirrels was super adorable if your a photographer you wont see disappointed....but be sure to deet up mosquitoes are super bad and as big as baby flies. And bring a lot of water frozen and some not humidity is crazy hot but I got some great shots....good walk and cardio.....and a really awesome sweating so bring a towel.
Beautiful Park to take your dogs walking ...looking at the wildlife... lots of deer in the woods... family friendly clean and all around Great Park for everyone.
The walks here are very beautiful. It is a great place to come and hold the hand of the one you love while you recharge yourself in nature
Remember where you park! And be ready for a good long walk. Had fun watching a female squirrel follow us in the walk way.
Great all around county park. Boat ramp was easily accessible and well kept. With three large playgrounds, two dog parks, long nature trails and many other amenities this is a great park for the entire family or just by yourself. Great views of Lake Tarpon and a vast assortment of wild and plant life makes for good sightseeing.
Absolutely a little piece of heaven in Palm Harbor. Great walking paths, boardwalks and deer, lots of deer!
So many deer! Nice park, well maintained. Large dog park. Alligators, so take care with dogs and small children at the water.
One of the most amazing places in Pinellas county. Wildlife, beautiful trails. Highly recommend
Great place to bring the kids. Beautiful walking areas. Plenty of open spaces
Beautiful park on Lake Tarpon. Lots of parking and picnic tables.
Always a favorite park for us. Theyve done a very nice job of redoing the walkways especially along the water. It looks beautiful now.
Beautiful facility! Nice trails, lots of wildlife. Plenty of parking and restrooms.
Very nice park for the family and apparently familys of all kinds
This is a beautiful park with lots of shaded trails, birds and wildlife, picnic areas and shelters. Highly recommend.
Going to start coming here at least once a month. So beautiful and somehow off radar because I never knew this giant complex existed. Different aspects for everyone to enjoy.
This is a beautiful park. Intricate, winding boardwalks that run along Lake Tarpon and also through wooded areas. Lots of covered picnic shelters, an ample playground for families, an overlook tower, and lots of wildlife. We actually saw a dear this afternoon! Lovely park. So glad to have discovered it!
Great walking trails, perfect for a day at the park. Plenty of pavilions for parties and stand alone picnic spots. Lots of nature, deer, hawks and baby alligator!! Nice shaded dog play area.
My boyfriend and I explored the water on our canoe. The sights were beautiful and we met some great locals!
This is a gorgeous park. The trails and walking paths feel private and enclosed. There are multiple eating tables and covered tables for picnicking. There is a kids area as well. There is plenty of wildlife, including alligators, with signs that give information about what to discover in the area. Please dont feed any of the animals however as it inhibits their ability to survive in the park. Also, you do have to be aware when walking close to the water; theres plenty of signs.I always make sure to visit this park whenever Im in Florida. If I lived there, Id probably go everyday.
Love walking here ! So nice and peaceful. Always a good time
Beautiful and peaceful park... I really enjoy spending time here.
Thanksgiving with 30+ people at pavilion #8 - was amazing, beautiful scenery, great amenities!
Big open areas to run around/play in, dog friendly, multiple playgrounds, nice trail to walk along with shade and viewing areas of Lake Tarpon
Clean safe patk to get us out of the house. Only 6 miles from home
I really like this park it is very beautiful and has a lot of fun things to do with your family.
Such an amazing park. Weve been there a few times always a perfect beautiful day
Been avidly coming to this park for years, still find it just as enjoyable as the first time. Very scenic tower and a bunch of places to walk!
Definitely our favorite dog park! All owners we encounter stay aware of their dogs and we have yet to run into any aggressive doggos. All very well behaved and happy to play!
Nice park. Fishing pier?-More like alligator observatory area. Can fish at boat launch. We saw 9 white tail deer!
John Chestnut Park is an amazing Pinellas County Park located just off of East Lake Rd.My family and I fell in love with this park because it has so much to offer and beautiful views. For starters, it has two playgrounds for the kiddos, lots Pavilions and picnic tables to host Birthday parties, and many boat ramps to access Lake Tarpon! The park is very Dog friendly and hosts an enormous gated open space for them to play and run around. This park is very active and the atmosphere mixed with the scenery and wide open space makes this park one of the best to visit and get some fresh air!Nature trails are all around and very well pathed out, or you can venture off and see the beautiful nature of this park. The first time I visited I was shocked about being up so close to the deer that make the park their home, they are always in the same spot everytime I go and It is amazing.I recommend visiting this park immensely, it is definitely a hidden gem in the community and everyone should come visit this beautiful park!
Great park to go walking, jogging, or biking. Dog friendly. Playgrounds for kids. Big open field plus lots of shelters.
Summers in Florida can get really hot, but the cool breeze coming off Lake Tarpon is great. Plenty of shelters and walking trails as well as bathrooms and water fountains. Love the South Trail as it runs right along a waterway and you can see this one big gator. Havent tried fishing there yet, but plan on it in the future. Parking is free everywhere except the Boat Dock area, which is around $2-4 per day(super cheap). Theres also a huge dog run and a softball/baseball field as well as 2 little charcoal BBQs set up at every shelter. Kayaking is awesome, just make sure to bring extra sunscreen, gentle crests and pretty smooth/not choppy (even when windy).
A great place to walk and observe. We were recently there and the park was bustling. The squirrels were also there in abundance.
The wildlife is so beautiful unlike any other park
What an absolutely beautiful park! We walked over 4 miles of the boardwalks through the trees. Just lovely
Amazing, had a great walk with my sister. The trails are peaceful and a great way to get exercise in todays world.
Amazing park. Very nice dog park is provided. Just watch your dog as too many people are so rude as to not pick up after their dogs. The water views are beutiful. Deer everywhere! Trails, boardwalk, wonderful setting. Fantastic for photography so do not forget your equipment
Beautiful park with biking and walking trails, a dog park and a playground, access to water, shelters and lots of trees and shade. I nearly always see deer in this park.
The family and I saw so many cool animals. We had such a blast!!
Beautiful park, nice walking trails. Lots of wildlife, great for bird watching.
Great park to spend the day with the family. Kids playgrounds, walking trails, and large shelters if you like to have a get togther. We had a great time at the park.
What a wonderful park to walk threw or sit an have lunch with a loved one or friend.
Great water views and a great park if your in the area!
Nature at its best! Deer, birds, squirrels, picnic tables, pavilions, play areas.
This is a beautiful Park very large on Lake Tarpon lots of animal life I saw baby alligators Cardinals Blue Jays a hawk and a lot of deer. The park apparently houses quite a nice little herd of deer. It is a great place to get back to Nature.
Really good place to walk lot of shade good place for what city dear and every other kind of wildlife. A must see .
I hired John to haul to clean out an old shed, he was on time and afterwards it looked fantastic.I would definitely hire him again.
Lovely park. We saw two deers within a few minutes on our boardwalk hike. We saw a few turtles, alligators and birds as well. The park is very clean and well kept up, the water and scenery is beautiful and you can fish by the boat ramps as well. Great place to relax and take photos.
Great place to have lunch with the kids. Great place to see deer! Playground for the kids. Perfect
The old park is still the same and that means excellent! New boardwalks with the same beautiful vista of Lake Tarpon!
Nice park with a lovely boardwalk. The boardwalk runs out along Lake Tarpon and features a wooden tower that is accessible by stairs. This tower offers a lovely perspective of the lake and surrounding foliage. We often see small deer grazing around the entrance of the park. Worth a visit. Things to consider: one of the boardwalks entrances is directly next to the boat ramp which may cause an issue with parking.
Really nice place to visit. Can see deer usually pretty easily (I think most of the time we go we see one). Relaxing place with great atmosphere and other people doing their own thing. Great to visit for a quick nature walk or to spend time (eat/relax/socialize) in nature.
This park has lots of trails, boat launch, dog park and playground. We love it! There is so much to do.
Nice walkway near the lake with a tower to take good pictures. Lots of trees and picnic areas.
Nice place for family and friends, picnic, boating, nature walk, great views from the observation tower. Kids play ground. A great asset for Pinellas County Florida.
Amazing place to go with you kids and family and dog, clean and safe, rest rooms is good, I used the grill, we enjoyed our time, thanks for the park rangers for guidance and help .
Nice park. Lots of parking. Play area. Wild life if you get to the park early enough
This has been my favorite park for years, Ive spent many hours with my girls here walking the trails, playing at the playgrounds etc but going as the park opened as the sun is just rising was a 1st but wont be the last by any means what a beautiful view on the water, even more breathtaking up top of the lookout tower not to mention the amount of wildlife out every where you turn, I am definitely going to be going back at day break to enjoy all the amazing beauty of the park
My wife and I had an amazing time. We wanted to get out and do some wildlife photography and we were not let down. The tree cover is great even on a 90degree day. The rest rooms need a good sweeping though. My wife refused to use them because they were a tad spider Webby??? I mean Im a guy so I used them for target practice.... Im kidding. Please enjoy some of our images as these are just a few of the amazing animals we captured in this park.
A great Park for everyone. Great to rollerblade.
