Took our first visit here today and it was fantastic. It wasnt very crowded on a Saturday afternoon which was nice also. The trails sre very clearly marked, with plenty of map signs arounds so you never feel lost. There is a self guided tour system on the boardwalk with information on the surrounding foliage which was neat. Theres pamphlets available as well as QR codes to scan at each numbered station. We unfortunately did not get to see anything more than turtles and squirrels but it was still a nice relaxing day. There are also marked jogging and biking trails. Highly recommend checking it out for a family outing, or to exercise!
Fun! I love these trails. There is a boardwalk area as well as dirt paths that can be followed. Theres plenty of signs so you dont get lost. You can also see a variety of different animals and insects. The view of the water is spectacular! This is a great place to walk, relax, and enjoy nature. I highly recommend it.
An unexpected treat for a Sunday afternoon. We went around midday and it wasnt too crowded. There are a few different trails to choose from and a boardwalk that serves as a self-guided tour. Was hoping to see a gator but seeing a manatee made up for it! I highly recommend a visit here.
Went there on a hike with my sons cub scout pack. We had a fantastic time. The kids got to see turtles, some very inquisitive racoons, and even a brief manatee sighting. The boardwalk path will take you on an easy stroll right up to the waters edge and offers a few covered seating areas that we used for a quick picnic lunch. Well probably head back again in the future as a family the next time we feel like getting out of the house for a while.
Aloha, A little difficult to find but worth the effort. We used Google maps to find it. The boardwalk made it easy to get to the creek views and Ospreys in the trees. We enjoyed our wonderful 30 minutes walk. But the trails go to 4 miles if you want...us not so much. Gods blessings and protection to you. Aloha
Loved the place. Great walking trails. Awesome spot to spend an afternoon. Will go back again.
Lovely green space for a walk. Boardwalk well maintained. Great view of the Florida plant life.
Beautiful place, peaceful and full of nature. There is a small butterfly garden in the front as well as an exercise area. You can choose the boardwalk or one of the regular trails. Certain plants along the trail are labeled. Hammock loop trail and creek overlook trail have wonderful views of the water.Entrance and parking were free.
A hidden gem that allows you to step away from the hustle and bustle. You can be there for a short moment or settle in and relax for as long as you like. Its quiet and lovely and very peaceful.
A little slice of wild paradise in the heart of Palm Bay. It truly is a sanctuary. Its peaceful and quiet and well maintained. And youre pretty much guaranteed to either see turtles in the creek or tortoises walking along the trail with you. Definitely worth a visit.
Nice little park with lots of elevated boardwalk hiking paths. Tons of turtles, and a few alligators(if youre lucky) in the creek. Paths are mostly in the shade, though youll want to bring water with you as the pathways tend to meander around in large loops. Signage along the routes identify various plants and animals. Bring a camera.
This is an awesome place to spend time with nature. My kids love walking the trails and boardwalk. I always bring my out of town guests to check it out. Bring water during the hot months to stay hydrated but there is a gift/education shop on site where drinks can be purchased and some pretty cool exhibits to learn about this area
Great place to go kayaking! Lots of wildlife! Was not crowded, very peaceful, and beautiful scenery.
So beautiful, love the wildlife and flora/fauna out there. Although I was attacked by a butterfly, probably deserved it. Oh yeah I found one of those rocks. Keep an eye out for painted rocks.
I love this place! I lived in Palm Bay for 20 years and enjoyed coming here so much especially during the cooler months. I live in Northern Virginia now but I will always come back to visit this place.
Absolutely beautiful. This place never fails. Boardwalk or sand trails to choose from. Cool tree house area over looking a huge canopy.
Should be called turtle based on all the turtles! Well maintained area . Good one hour plus walk along board walk.
This sanctuary is so high that it takes more then one attendance but totally worth the drive and your time. The wildlife and the beauty of the place makes it so serene and calming, whether alone, with a loved one or a family outing. Throughout the trail they have gazebos with picnic tables. The main rule is DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE!!!
Great place for a quiet walk. Take your sneakers. And get lost in the serene bliss of nature.
My parents put their names, and each of their parents name on boards 30 yrs ago. Wanted to see them!
Great experience. Saw some awesome sights along turkey Creek including a manatee! The trails are pretty hard packed but there are spots that are pretty soft for strollers or wheelchairs. They do have a boarded trail that contains a lot of the best vistas or overlooks.
Very quiet and peaceful. Great trails to walk. Beautiful scenery.
Great little spot for a short trek. Easy hike, mostly shaded. Cool opportunities to see manatees, turtles, birds, and such
Turkey Creek Sanctuary is Palm Bays best kept secret! This place has so much to offer and is very family friendly. Nature walks, a jogging course, canoeing and a beautiful wood boardwalk are some of the great things you can expect to enjoy. Our parents took us to Turkey Creek when we were kids and its so nice to be able to share the wonderful experiences with our children.
Just loved the long trails n enjoyed nature
Great place to go for a walk and escape the sun. Lots of wildlife. The walk is sandy so even on a rainy day you won’t get muddy. I saw 2 manatees which was amazing!
I love this place! A neat and tucked away natural park, how Florida was before development and urban sprawl transformed it
Beautiful...peaceful..wonderful spot
Well kept trails. Good parking. Boardwalk and dirt trails. They have a nature center
Lovely free area to walk around. Has different trails and sections. Could easily spend an hour or two here without walking the same path. Recommend going in the early morning before it gets too hot. Bug spray too. Didn’t get to see any wildlife besides turtles but there are a ton of turtles at the canoe deck.
Nice spot for an easy walk/hike. The boardwalk seems like it could use some restoring but its still sturdy and safe.We will definitely come back again.
Best place ever to get away with ur yak and just drift in peace and serenity for a while
Lovely walk, largely on boardwalks, through the woods. Was able to spot a sleeping raccoon, see many turtles (that gave me the impression that people unfortunately have been feeding them by the way the swarmed towards us) and just listen to nature. Much of the boardwalk has had to be replaced after Irma and the aged boards are a tad slimy & slippy when damp. There is the option of getting the boards engraved with a message for a fee/donation so as long as you are going in the right direction you can read them without craning your neck! There is a nice display of animal-related stuff at the info center, including some cool fossils!
Well maintained, not too crowded. Beautiful flora and fauna.
Real place for recovering the energy, getting peace of mind, spiritual balance and making happy our soul.
Beautiful and peaceful. Its a great place for hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking. The red loop connects to Malabar Scrub Sanctuary, which connects to Cameron Preserve, and the Jordan Scrub. You can hike for days in this area and still have more to see!Lots of wildlife and birds here, too!
Peaceful walking trails and a guided self tour on the boardwalk.
It was a nice adventure. The boardwalk hike covered alot of scenic areas of the park including the Creek. There are other trails to venture off too. They are pretty extensive as well. Wear hiking shoes or boots. There is a sign in station before the boardwalk. We saw some wildlife crossing the trials. Free park, great spot to momentarily escape the city life. Fun for the family. And for some it could be romantic. We love nature hikes.
Saw three manatee. Great place with lots of wildlife. Also got chased by 2 raccoons.
During my visit the staff was hard at work maintaining and repairing parts of the boardwalk. However, they were kind and patient while I took photos of the beautiful scenery. The giant trees have Spanish moss swaying softly in the breeze. It is like an enchanted forest. Observation points overlooking the creek allow you to observe wildlife of all kinds. I walked almost all the paths within the sanctuary, each one has many beautiful and unique things to see. The diversity of the sanctuary is wonderful. Jogging, biking, hiking, canoeing and kayaking are all available within the park. I wish I had more time to spend taking photos.
If youre a nature lover then this is the place for you, my wife and i spent a few hours on the boardwalk trail, it was a very hot day when we went so most animals where hiding in the shade but we did get to see several gopher tortoise the smallest and cutest baby gopher tortoise ever, loads of turtles, couldnt quite make out but what looked like a manatee on the far side of the lake, lots of squirrels and a beautiful bright red cardinal. We WILL be visiting again (All the best pics i took were still on my camera at the time of me writing this review)
What a great place to take a walk. Its in the middle of the city and you would never know! Easy trail. Keep any eye out for bikes.
Excellent place to enjoy a walk surrounded by nature, in a quiet, safe and very pleasant environment. For the entire family.
Beautiful boardwalk trail and easy to follow. The sanctuary is well maintained. The only animals we saw were squirrels, but the overlook of the creek was worth the short walk! I’d recommend going there for a nice escape into nature!
Clearly marked trails. Nice views. Kept up place.
Many turtles. We didnt see any gators, but we did see a manatee. A nice place.
Nice hidden gem, to walk in natural. Safe and free local.Highly recommended, enjoy!
I like this place. You can see manatees, variety of birds and plants.
Such a beautiful place in the wonderful city of Palm Bay! I go here about once a couple of months just to take in the beauty of this and the city.
We canoed up to the dam. Very nice to see lots of wild life. Snakes, gators, turtles, fish and tons of species of birds!
Perfect escape in the middle of town. Helps your stress melt away as you walk through nature. My boys loved it and keep asking to go back.
Beautiful, well maintained boardwalk and trails overlooking Turkey Creek. Great place to view manatees, turtles, alligators, and other wildlife.
An extremely Beautiful place to visit and make memories with your family or have a cheap date, guys thank me later lol . Be prepared to take pictures the scenery is awesome.
Great place to go for a stroll. Boardwalk makes access easy. There are several other trails, some of which are very nice to jog on. The main Boardwalk trail is well documented with fauna and Flora descriptions. Several viewpoints of Turkey Creek along the way have benches that allow everyone the ability to see and enjoy this walk.
I really enjoyed the walk through the sanctuary on the boardwalk. I was able to take some really good pictures. The weather was very nice around 70 degrees. I am sure this place probably gets hot in the summer. This place would be great for familys to visit. The raccoons are overly friendly and are looking for a handout. One raccoon came up to me, stood on his hind legs and tugged at my jeans. I halfway expected them to be holding a sign saying photos for food. Make sure you allow at least 90 minutes. I did not have that long and there were areas I didnt get to see.
Love this place its an escape from the grind of civilization. A nice hike with lots of opportunities to see some wild life
Great boardwalk and hiking trail! Have been here many times through the years and always see tons of wildlife. Especially turtles, both land and water.
Feels like you are transported to a different time and a lot of .
Well-maintained sanctuary with a variety of hiking options. There is a boardwalk for easy walking, or several trails for mild hiking. Do beware that the boardwalk is slippery after the rain. The location is extremely lush, and can get a little buggy at times. Plenty of available parking.
What an absolutely beautiful place. I loved the plant identification labels along the boardwalk. Walking here just at sunset when the frogs are singing and the light is catching all golden in the Spanish moss is a magical experience. Easy, level walk, very accessible.
Wonderful little local treasureWe love exploring these types of local treasures when traveling. They are so much better than unpredictable and boring experiences in hotel gyms.We visited on a Sunday morning, when the sun was burning off the early fog. The boardwalk made walking easy, and the many labeled points helped us see some natural attractions we likely would have missed. Our highlight was the walk along the creek, gazing at the natural beauty and looking for wildlife. While other visitors reported seeing a manatee, we saw squirrels, herons and racoons. Taking the boardwalk and one of the loop trails, we managed to get in a 2.8 mile stroll.
These are pictures I took at Turkey Creek Sanctuary. The pictures describe it better than my words.
I dont know what is all the fuss about. Boring place to go and kind of scary if you go alone. Only saw two turtles fighting... yes fighting, that was all the excitement of this trip to turkey’s creek. Save your time and leg work.
Easy walk through gorgeous natural Florida landscape. Some boardwalk & some trail, with lots of shade throughout. One of our favorite parks. We almost always spot at least 1 gopher tortoise, make sure to watch out for them along the road when you drive in!
There are many trails with various levels. One for exercise, one for those who like it primitive and one with a wooden path way. Also, there is a small river where people can kayak or take their canoe. The vegetation is beautiful and luscious providing enough shade to temper the heat. Finally, if you are lucky like I was, you may see a manatee in the river.
Love going on walks here!
Great nature walk! Even with my family we got to see animals.
Dont take your girl there to get intimate with too many children, lol, very nice sightseeing
Beautiful nature. Places for picnics. Some great signage re: plants.
Loved this place! Amazing wildlife, easy to navigate with self guided boardwalks. Saw Manatee with her baby, birds, turtles! AMD friendly hikers. Cant wait to go back
When the desire to walk along a wooden boardwalk in what amounts to a circle drawn by a five-year old strikes your fancy, then Turkey Creek Sanctuary is the place for you.As you clod along this walkway, which is sort of bridge suspended at at dizzying height of a yard above the ground, youll be able take in the spectacle of trees, trees and still more trees. A few of these trees have little signs near them in case you were wondering what species of tree it could be thats blocking your view. But in all honesty, the names are rather boring and lacking imagination so I forgot them immediately. After this trek along the bridge to nowhere, youll eventually arrive at the sanctuarys namesake. There were no turkeys. Very disappointing. Perhaps they werent in season. In any event, they should rename it Just Creek Sanctuary. Which would be far more fitting. The rain on the walk back was annoying. I blame the City Planners for this. However, I didnt tell them I would be touring Just Creek Sanctuary, so I bear some of the responsibility. Had they known, perhaps they would have turned it off.On my next visit I plan on trying out the Exercise Trail. It has mulch!
Lovely little nature trail with some boardwalks. Saw some birds and turtles. No gators or manatees this time.
If youre up for a good stroll through nature or a good hike, this is a great place to get it done. Several trails are available here, with an exercise trail, boardwalk, or a stroll through the bush, just about any taste can happen. All trails eventually lead to Turkey Creek with picnic pavilions or just a summery rest. There is a nature center, and plenty of tags, that will let you know just what you are looking at, or can expect on your visit. DO NOT feed the raccoons for sure
Beautiful sanctuary! Plenty of manatees and turtles! Lovely Florida!
It would be perfect if there were restrooms available on Sunday.
The wilderness here is so peaceful! I especially love kayaking through the sanctuary. It is a great place to relax and get away from the modern world.
Great paths, turtles in river and good self your ssf signs
Great walk through a nature preserve. Saw gopher tortoise, raccons, and a few turtles. Very hot.
Nice walking/jogging trails. Quite and relaxing.
Nice quiet place to take a walk and see wildlife.Has a cute little nature center to educate you on all the animals and plants there:)Do what the sign says and dont feed the wildlife!!!
Real nice place to walk and exercise.
This sanctuary has really expanded in recent years. So many things to see and events to attend. Lovely first thing in the morning.
Love the trails love the nature and everyone is friendly something for everyone and plenty of places to take breaks . great exercise
This is a great getaway to walk, picnic or just sit quietly. Lots of wildlife and beauty!!
Always a nice walk through the sanctuary. Saw lots of turtles, an alligator, butterflies and birds today.
Nice place for a walk, the maps are confusing though. Non-boardwalk trails could use better marking. The little nature center is nice!
This park is the best in the area. I almost hate that it has high reviews, including mine, because I want it all to myself. But not being selfish, seriously, this place is so relaxing. You can always see wildlife, including turtles, fish, alligators, birds, and even manatees. Plenty of room so never feels crowded.
I love Turkey Creek! It is a beautiful place to walk, bike, and kayak. Tons of gorgeous flora and fauna. Turtles and tortoises everywhere!
I love this park. Its in the name, a sanctuary. Beautiful boardwalk. My favorite mountain bike trail. Truly a gem. Library next door as well. The kayaking is GORGEOUS.
Very pretty. Places to sit and relax. Nice boardwalk. Our children love it here
Nice hiking trails. Seen 3 manatees, lots of turtles and fish. Good day out.
The boardwalk has great views for those who have trouble with uneven terrain. Lots of well marked trails to walk or jog! This time we saw many gopher tortoises.
Sweet Wildlife sanctuary! Great hiking, board walk trails, dirt trail, over looks, canoes...cool rest spots....Gators, manatee, birds, turtles, tortoise, racoons, snakes....too cool, if I lived here I would like it every week.
One of the best places to paddle in Florida. Its a Paddling Paradise
