There are so many great biking and hiking trails at Malabar Scrub Santuary/Turkey Creek. This is truly one of Brevard Countys best kept secrets! Enjoy the outdoors in these well maintained trails. So much fun for the family. We even braved a bike with a bike trailer. It was pretty tight in most spots, but miraculously made it through the trail. We love bringing our kids out here to get fresh air!
I would give this kayak launch 5 stars except that you have to haul your kayak quite far from the parking area. The path is sandy and wide but there is a part right before the launch area that is very steep and also bikes go by fast- so you can’t just leave your kayak across the ground. The launch itself is really nice. There is a wood spot where you can stand and push your kayak off from. From here you can go all the way to a dam or to the intracoastal river! The way into turkey creek (towards the dam) is really nice and pretty wide. When there is a drought it can be easy to bottom out or get stuck on fallen palms in the creek. When the water level is higher it’s easy to glad through. You can see all kinds of wildlife including manatees and alligators! The gators pretty much leave you alone. It’s pretty cool to float by one on the bank!
I recommend launching from Pollack Boat Ramp and paddling in. But, there is a launch with stairs and to get to it about a quarter mile in from the road in Turkey Creek if you dont want to paddle a couple miles in from Pollack. Im 61 and I personally enjoy the paddle time! I absolutely love kayaking in Turkey Creek Sanctuary!!
This is one of my favorite places. The multi-use trails are lovely and tranquil. Manatees often hang out near the kayak launch. A lovely little piece of unspoiled nature in the heart of Palm Bay.
I like to hit wild animals with the tip of my kayak and if I get really close with my paddle to watch them jolt it turns me on in a whole different world
Great place. Bicyclists can get jammed up pretty easy in the trails, especially when there are hikers on the trails as well.
Great place to launch a canoe. Just wish there were less people to really enjoy the nature.
The path is washed out and bicycles fly by almost hitting us
Great neighborhood spot.Kayakers, bikers, etc.Manatee sightings, turtles and birdlife. Beautiful Florida ♡
Beautiful sanctuary! We saw a huge manatee! Nice outing that doesnt cost money!
Actually ride mountain bikes near this launch but its a beautiful spot in the middle of Palm Bay /Malabar. Nice hiking and biking trails nearby. Very serene. Looks like a nice place to launch kyaks.
Great spot to launch your kayak.
Our new spot to drop off in Turkey Creek. Quiet, serene and beautiful. Manatees, turtles, gators, and dolphins are always around.
More bathrooms and sitting areas that are shaded would be a nice addition but overall q nice place for a scenic walk.
Pretty place lots of turtles and fish saw a small alligator. The launch is about 120 yards from parking lot and steep with couple steps down to water.
This kayak launch is great if you dont want to paddle all the way to the dam, or if your lazy like me
Great spot to launch your Kayak, its a little bit of a hike but absolutely worth it.
Beautiful kayak spot - about 50 yards in on a sandy trail from parking - not fancy, but a great paddling experience - manatee, dolphin, gat, turtles - a real pleasure!
Takes a bit of a walk to get to the launch from where you park. It is manageable by yourself but is a lot easier with 2 people.
I Love this Place! #turkeycreeksanctuary
This is a great little spot to launch from if you want to see the Turkey Creek Sanctuary without having to paddle an extra 3 mile round trip from Goode Park. Park your car on the side of the road and transport your kayaks in on the dirt path to the west to get to Turkey Creek. When you get to the creek you want to paddle to the left (upstream) to get into the Sanctuary. You can paddle in for about 1 mile through lots of twists and turns until you get to a dam. You have to turn around at the dam. Youll see lots of birds and turtles and the occasional manatee or alligator. The launch area is a very slippery wooden ramp. I recommend launching from the dirt embankment to the left or right of the ramp. The city of Palm Bay added some stairs made out of railroad ties to help people negotiate the small slope near the creek. They had good intentions, however, the stairs have made it much harder to get a kayak up or down the slope. Previously you could just wheel kayaks up or down using a cart, now because of the steps they need to be carried.
I have never been there. I went close to drop something for someone.
Its 200 yards to the launch from the parking spaces. When you have a 75 lb canoe its too far to carry it to the launch site.
Kayaking around here is a lot of fun, and the bike trails around this area are great too.
Family oriented. Quiet and peaceful.
