I was a bit bummed out when we arrived at the lighthouse but it was closed. Ive always loved lighthouses and this was the first one I actually got to see in person. Even though I didnt get to get up close it was still an amazing experience.

One of the most well kept and beautiful lighthouse along the California coastline. It’s tucked away from the main street that not so many people know of but I highly recommend it for family with young kids. The docents here are extremely knowledgeable and so passionate to share with visitors a part of history at this lighthouse.Even though you would have to pay an entrance fee to visit it, it so worth the money.

LOVED this spot! Ive always wanted to tour the inside of a lighthouse and this one did not disappoint. Leave at least half an hour for your visit even if youre not that into history - the docents are quite talkative! But the displays are very well put together, and Id recommend planning for an hour or so if you really want to get the full experience. WELL worth the stop! Such a cool piece of history.

Lovely and knowledgeable docent. Rich amount of history packed into a small space. Worth stopping by for a visit. Good view of coast, Pebble Beach golf course, local wildlife- which includes a herd of deer and whales in Winter season. Viewing area for those with handicap. Go to the gift shop to buy museum entry. Handicap parking in front lot.Local fauna and museum displays (indoor and outdoor) are not souvenirs.

We spent the day in Monterey Bay, and found this quaint area - the lighthouse museum on Saturdays is open from 10am to 4pm, and we got there around 3:30, which is just enough time (you don’t need more than 20 minutes). It cost only $5 per person (free for kids under 12), and wasn’t overrun with visitors. The volunteers (mainly elderly folk) are lovely, and it was interesting to learn about the history and some of the science (there’s quite a bit of it, more than you’d expect) behind managing a lighthouse. The views are stunning.

Point Pinos is the oldest working lighthouse on the west coast and it has definitely been taken care of. I am thankful we were able to experience the lighthouse and learn about its history and it’s female involvement as well. Take a look at the pictures and you’ll definitely want to visit!

This lighthouse is worth a stop and the $5 admission. Although serving as a fully automated beacon for more than fifty years, the internal space has been recreated similar to its Victorian, WWI, and WWII time period deco. The volunteer docents are extremely gracious and are eager to share their detailed knowledge of its history. Mostly self-guided, a detailed tour will take about forty five minutes. I recommend visiting this little lighthouse near Monterey, CA.

Top off your 17-mile by visiting this free attraction. Really small quaint operational lighthouse which makes it the oldest in the West Coast. The whole site can be toured in just about 1 hour. If youre not able to park inside, there is plenty of street parking. There is also a very high chance of deer sightings.

You can view the oldest continuously operating lighthouse in California, see the living space of the lighthouse keeper, and learn the significance of lighthouses in a historical context. The tour is free, with a suggested donation of $4/adult. Very cute and peaceful lighthouse close to the beach. The house is surrounded by history, the landscaping is well maintain with a corner seating area and a water fountain, great for pictures. The Point Pinos lighthouse operates with donations and the small shop sales. The instructors are volunteers and do a great job explaining the history. Many people get to miss out on this great experience because the hours are not very long Tues, Wed: Close the rest are open 1-4pm. They also have a real anchor buoy entering the gate. I took my kids for some history lessons. And they love going up the tight space stairs and watching the deers

I snapped a photo of this lighthouse a few years back. The problem I had to stand on my truck tire and shoot over the fence to get it. They didnt happen to be open that day when we stopped by. This time they were open, and we got to see everything. All of the docents were friendly and equality important knowledgeable. We actually learned a lot. Really the only down sides to the visit were the scaffolding that was up a the time, and that giant piece of plexi glass that kept me from going all the way to the top!

This was a delightful place to visit. We were greeted by lovely people who gave us some great information about the lighthouse and its history. I learned a lot of new things. Thats what made it so interesting. I have visited lighthouses before where u climb to the top to see some panaromic views. This is short lighthouse but the views around it are very beautiful. Also you get to see how the lightkeepers liver and what their day to day entailed.

The lighthouse itself is beautiful but the docent inside was horrid. Just about the rudest person I have ever met, after she opened her mouth my wife and I walked straight out and wont be back. One of the oldest lighthouse present on the Western Coastal belt, which is still maintained and operational. It has an amazing history attached to it which is been nicely explained by people managing it. They also have a audio video room where they show a small documentary which shows how all this is been done. It is managed so well that one feel like to spent some more time there.Entry is free, but still one can donate as it work on donation. Personally I meet some senior citizen there who narrate how it was built and beautiful history associated with it. They even have a gift shop in the premises.

There is a great view of the water from the upper floor of the lighthouse but it wasnt possible to go up to the very top. Very friendly staff here to answer any questions you have. They have lots of details about the history about these lighthouses and the importance of it during the war. Pretty cool tidbit of history as you explore the coast. Make sure you check the hours as well!

A small but functioning lighthouse maintained by the U.S. Coastguard. Lovely grounds. It is open to the public for self-guided tours. It is in a rather curious location on the edge of a residential neighbourhood and bordered by a golf course. The is a small $4 suggested, totally optional, donation. If you are a fan of lighthouses this is one to add to your list. Ample street parking and easy wheelchair access to the grounds if you need it. The interior is a bit tight so a wheelchair will fit well.

Great place to visit for a lighthouse picture. They are very pushy regarding suggested donation, someone seems to lack knowing the meaning of donation, as it is really appears to be a required fee. Yes I understand the needs, and am willing to donate, but the attitude takes away from experience and limits some people who cant attend. This took away from my rating. The story and the displays are great and well worthwhile a visit and to explore the inside. To bad the people running when I visited blew it.
