Lovely little patch of wild Pacific Grove Oak and pine forest. Trails for an afternoon stroll or dog walk with lots of bird life, especially acorn woodpeckers. Preserved native plants and wildflowers. Great place to get away from the tourists.

This is a wonderfully undisturbed park. It is one of the few places one can bring their dog unleashed.

Theres lots of space, lots of variety, woods animals fresh air. You can hike around other folks, or walk quite a way in secluded areas

So many fine times with Nugget traipsing through the forest which is part of the Watershed of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary

Dog park heaven! There are 100 acres of wooded trails where dogs can run off leash. Because this is Pacific Grove, the dogs are friendly and not aggressive. I have never seen a pit bull, Doberman, or German Shepherd. Mostly the dogs are small dogs with the occasional retriever or labradoodle. It’s a great place for a 30 minute walk that your dog will enjoy as much as a a bowl of hamburger.

I like this place. I didnt even know it was called Rip Van Winkle Open Space Reserve. I used to come here in my youth with my friend Natalia whom I adored. And it triggers fond memories of good and bad times long forgotten. Theres magic in this place.

Does NOT exist. middle of a golf course now.Guards at gate never heard of it.10$ fee to take route 17 mile drive,where GPS takes you. beach smelled like clams, rough just off golf course.

This open space is absolutely beautiful, with bountiful wildlife including the occasional deer pack and foxes. Whether your out for a jog or just want to commune with nature this is your spot.

Nice area, the trails offer a good 30 minutes or so of walking around the winding loop, easy to go around in circles and not notice. Careful though on your way there using Google Maps, it took me through the 17 Mile drive gate, which they tried to charge me $10.25 to get through. But you can get there taking Congress Dr. without paying. Overall not bad.

Everyone seems to take their dogs walking off-leash here. Which is nice, as long as they are all dog-friendly dogs. Lots of paths meandering through the woods - get your sense of direction working before you go get lost in there!
