Econ River Wilderness Area is situated near Oviedo Dollar General store. It is a 2.5 mile trail, to and fro. I did not come across any wildlife, but is is supposed to be the habitat for golden mouse, tortoise and some birds. You can observe the scenic beauty at the end of the trail when you reach the Econ river. There are arrow markings on the trees so that you do not get lost on the way, a couple of benches en route for you to relax. You can jog, bike, ot just take a walk along with your pet. Short trail, good for starters.
Local beautiful trails along the Econ river but a little short on wildlife. Clean and well maintained but no facilities.
Awesome trail. A ton of different paths to take, some less traveled than others. Dog friendly. Easy to spend a few hours here just enjoying the nature and sounds of the wildlife and rivers. Only downside is the lazy visitors who leave trash behind, not the parks fault and the rangers do a good job picking stuff up promptly. 5/5 will be going again. My dog and I love it!
Needs better signs as it easy to take a wrong turn
Located right down the road from the UCF stadium. Lots of trails to leave your footprint on and you could fish. I recall hearing there was gar and I saw plenty of catfish on my way up the river.I ran into a few turtles, a snake, a baby alligator, all with pretty close proximity which I wouldnt advise you to do. (especially if ur a klutz)The sun was baking today. A good 95°F(33°C). I almost left my UCF hat at home. Also took my umbrella even though there was no chance for it to rain. Yet, as Im writing this 2 hours later, 100% severe thunderstorm. POURING HARD. Was a great adventure whether you do it solo or with others. 10/10.I spent a good 2.5 hours making my way through every trail and creek. I enjoyed the river and next time Ill pack snacks to take with.On my way out I saw lots of people jogging in and was very tempted to join this one happy young lady who was trailing alone. If you ever read this I wanted to run back and accompany you but I woulda fainted lmao
A beautiful place to hike. We like to go to the river and eat lunch, its a couple miles in and out.
You seemingly cant get lost because the trail loops. Its super fun hiking out to the river! Dont forget to bring a hat because the sandy trail can be sunny and hot. I always walk to the Dollar General for a water after :)
Nice area to jog or to walk your dogs! They even have a little spot before you start your walk that has free baggies to clean up after your doggos. Very peaceful and simple paths!
Very easy trail. Limited wildlife sightings due to heavy traffic of noisy hikers. Great for any hiker from novice to advanced.
There’s a trail that’s really nice however your exposed to the literal wilderness so it’s a little scary. I took my family and young kids, halfway across the trail we heard a LOUD noise in the tall grass coming towards us. It startled us but we remained calm and continued. Please be mindful of this and be completely aware of your surroundings.
Such an amazing walk it is hard to understand why any politician would let developers swap land without access to the other side. Seems like a consistent issue with developmenters promising to improve roads and then doing nothing.
Realky nice enjoing the peaceful nature
Great trails. You can stay on path or venture out. There are water features, open areas, and plenty of woods. It does get fairly flooded during rainy times, however, so be careful.
Such a lovely area, filled with easy to follow trails!
My family of 5 loves this wilderness trail! We can easily spend 2 hours walking and enjoying the sights & sounds. My kids found a small pond and enjoyed throwing rocks into it. We spotted other people riding horses. We appreciated the markers that had arrows directing us where to go. Great place to get into nature, get some exercise, and let the kids & dogs explore!!!
We love getting out into nature with our young daughter. This area is right in Oviedo’s backyard in Seminole to escape from the busyness and stresses of life and sit by the water at the picnic table and watch the birds fly over the water lily pads and cattails. The sweeping overhead canopy of foliage above never dissapoints with lots of songbird and calling birds, the forest floor below teeming with insects and turtles and lizards.
Loved this wet trail. It was cool the night we went. No shade.
Really good place for a nice hike. Pet friendly.
Good food. A tad pricy for the amount but overall quality is good. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
Very nice trail thru the woods.
Beautiful natural site with many different paths to explore. Great place to spend the morning hiking on a weekend
Great hiking place. Dogs are allowed and its a very nice trail partly along the river. Lots of animals along the trails and the place is pretty good for birding.
Love these trails! But people need to follow the rules and leash their dogs. See photo for a good reason why! (Photos: Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake laid out across the trail. A rarity, for sure, but possible) Sometimes rattlers just wanna have sun...
Vet nice trail that is about 2.4 mile loop.
Easy hike with unexpected views. Feel free to explore the side trails. I would recommend a GPS if you plan on doing so. My lowly Etrex 10 was more than adequate.
If you love this place you need to speak up and protect it. A developer is trying to steal the land from taxpayers under the guise of Fair Housing so they can build townhouses and shops. Speak up! Save the Econ River Wilderness Area!
Great place to get outdoors and enjoy nature.
First timer and it was awsome went with the bikes good exercise
Absolutely beautiful!! So glad we visited..
Pure nature and relaxing echosystem.
Nice trail with different distance options to hike. Great to bring dogs. The trails are also well kept and there are arrows you can follow.
Pretty walking trail. Not the best marked/obvious trail but still good.
Nice trails for walk and enjoy. One down side: too many yungters students screaming and walking their dogs unleashed. So, for that reason, I wont come back on a weekend. Weekdays? maybe..hope theyre busy on class.
Simply beautiful wilderness. And awesome trails that lead to the Econ River. I had such a peaceful and tranquil walk through the trails. Amazing!!!!!?
Went fishing at the back on the river. Found a couple different spots and caught 3 total, in about an hour. 2 sunfish and a small largemouth bass. Went early on a Sunday morning and had the place almost entirely to myself. Saw a few other people on the trail coming out.Rode my bike on the trails and it was a pretty decent ride. Lots of tree roots and some loose sand, but not a terribly different bike ride to the river.
I love this place!! It is wonderful. So peaceful.
Great parking. Very clean.
Visit this place while you can & help fight development of it! #saveruralseminole
Beautiful place to walk, nice views of the river. Not too long either, great for a quick and easy hike
I love this place! I’ve lived here for several years now, and this has always been my go-to peaceful spot. It’s so close to my house, but still far enough away that I can unplug. There are several trail routes, and each of them are beautiful! My favorite spot is the river in the back, and the trees are perfect for hammocking there! This trail is great for alone time, a date, or simply spending time with friends! Love Econ River.P.S. I am a local Orlando artist. If you would like to check me out, I’m on Spotify, Apple, Soundcloud, etc. as “hunterdrinkswater.” Thanks for reading my review! God bless you!
Great hiking trail for being so close to UCF.
Very peaceful hike! There are pretty oaks, and large sycamores along the river. Some trails are only wide enough to walk single file.
Great hike, easy trail, not crawded, very clean and well kept.
Park is in natural environment of 240 acres with trails clearly marked. Longest trail is 2.2 miles. Bikes, dogs and horses are welcomed.
The trail is clean but it was a little flooded and muddy by the river.
Great trail to get away from the hustle of Orlando and enjoy the outdoors and nature. Take your time and explore...who knows what you may find.
Our whole family loves hiking here
Nice shady walk in the Florida heat.
A bit busy since its close to UCF, but very nice walking/running trails. Theres a skinny boardwalk that leads out to a more wide open expanse of trees and underbrush.
Nice, simple hike. Good exercise.
Currently redoing parking area. No trash cans anywhere.
We deer and open space
The parking lot for the Econ River Wilderness Area was just completely redone and it looks great! They added a gravel lot with parking stones and fencing and expanded the total parking capacity. The trails themselves are very pretty and lead down to the little econ river. The only two issues I haveare as follows. First, in the summer rainy season, a large portion of the trail becomes impassable due to water. There is a small bridge for some of the worst areas, but overall the trail is not nearly as nice. The second issue, is that the entrance to the trail is very narrow. it is difficult for two people to pass each other right at the entrance of the trail. I hope Seminole county clears and widens the entrance a bit, since they are upgrading the trail overall. Once you get about 300 feet into the trail, 5-6 people could easily walk abreast with no issue, so I am not sure why the trailhead is so narrow.
Dog and I love this trail. Looks like its been cleared out a ton since last year but it didnt detract from our enjoyment of it.
Great place for hiking! We spent at least 2 hours there everytime we go.
I like nature and this place is full of it.
Real nice walk right bye my house really cool
Love this place! My shepherd and I walked around the trails, about 3 miles, it’s beautiful and very open. Love the river!
Awesome place for a walk. Especially with pets.
Map does not seem to be an accurate depiction of trails. You wont get lost, but if you are not careful you will miss the river.
Under construction currently but some awesome trails to wander through the woods
Very fun place to hike. Lots of little trails.
Great hiking location in the middle of the city
Nice area for walking and enjoying nature. Quite relaxing.
Whether youre into hiking, jogging, biking, photography or just looking for a nice nature filled adventure, Econ River Wilderness Area is a great stop. You may get lucky with chances of seeing many different bird species, an occasional Gopher Tortoise, Whitetail Deer or even a giant American Alligator on the Econ River. There are multiple trails, marked clearly with arrows that meander from higher scrub to lower wetlands bordering the Econ River. Its a great walk for families who are looking for an easy walk with interesting sites for photo opps. Enjoy, and walk quietly if youre looking for wildlife!
Great little hike and decent for bikes. The river is amazing. Go if youve never been.
Thats a great trail for a little walk. We saw some cute Turtels on the way to the lake :)
Great place for the family, Great for walking.
Excellent park to be in nature. Not good for family and children. No restrooms
If you like nature its beautiful.
Currently under a bit of construction in the front but always a nice quick trail to walk!
I ride here regularly from my home nearby. Great trail for biking. As far as scenery and wildlife, both are pretty average. Overall would recommend if you live nearby, but not worth going far for.
Great little get away from all the Orlando traffic. The trails are very easy trails to walk and have a nice peaceful tone to them. They are also very well kept paths. It is never overly crowded so you can almost always find a nice secluded spot to rest or hangout at. There is a beautiful river at the end of the trail with places to sit or setup a hammock and chill. It is pet friendly, so you can bring your little pup with you if you want. Also a nice path for any runners or bikers. I take my bike out almost every day, it is a good workout and is always a gorgeous ride through. I highly recommend Econ River to anyone looking for a relaxing walk in nature.
Decent park. Not a lot to see. Just a few trails in open terrain (no tree cover)
Such a beautiful place to hike.
Its a quaint trail and was a nice quick adventure.
Hope they dont turn it into another subdivision.
Awsome trail
Love the new widened paths.
Better have your walking shoes picture ate great but a hike then again not young here
Perfect place to get in contact with mother natue!
Great place for walking
Nice place to get away from the city noises! Good for the family!
Well groomed and organized park trails
Beautiful and great trails
Great little nature park. Good for hiking/running
Nice place to get away from everything
Ive rated this before lots of trails to explore on and nature walks n hikes
Great place for a nice walk. Well groomed flat terrain
Its not quite far enough from the road at many points but it does go back quite a bit. Its ok for being so close to the school and a short drive for most in East Orlando.
A must adventure to explore. Always enjoy the forest ride and forest harmony.
Great place to go hiking. Trails are well maintained, are nice open.
So many hiking possibilities but you cant get lost! Awesome place to escape concrete laden Colonial Drive.Saw an armadillo on the trail. Pretty awesome. all in all the trail hike around the perimeter was 1.5 hrs. It can be a nice jog. I wish dog owners would clean up after animals.Trails can be muddy/submerged after rain so wear long pants and water proof shoes...watch out for horse manure too.
Its awesome have a beautiful, natural, free park/hiking trail like this so close to a suburban area like UCF.
