Ive loved Overholser since my dad took me here to go fishing over 50 years ago. LOL, we never caught anything particularly exciting shore fishing or from the the bottom of the dam, but it sure was a heck of a lot of fun. I would still recommend it for a parent/kid enjoyable experience.And I think the dam is neat as heck and fun to walk across. Its a rarity to be around when they open the gates, but REALLY cool when they do!!!Boating, nice kids park, other activities, the neat old Route 66 bridge to travel across. :)Im a very amateur photographer and Overholser is a great local resource from the dam to the wildlife.Have gone through the years, always a good place to park alone or with friends to clear the air or the head, have a meal, enjoy some music.Example being what triggered this review request, my being there the other day having just been fired after working my butt off for 4 years and with the blues, and this amazing strong wind and mist was traveling along the lake, the couple of pics I attach wont do justice, and I just parked there and let the wind and mist blow across me with the window down and soak me and revitalize me and it was awesome. LOL, here I am a cranky old vet at 62 and yet again ol Overholser gave me as good feeling now as it did when I was 10.

Nice well-kept park to bring the kiddos too. The dam steals the show. You can walk down there with your kids. Its a good learning experience. Lots of variety of birds to introduce them to. White cranes and gray cranes

Just a really cool little spot to see in OKC. Make sure to see the dam when you go out there. The dam is located on the SE corner of Lake Overholser. This is not a swimming hole but a good place for fishing. Lots of people were fishing out there.

Was great learning experience for kids. So many was to expand into other teaching moments. After further studies at home, we will be back.

Safe place for my friends and family as far as I know. I like the Overholser area. Diversity and safety for the most part. There was a creepy old man riding an expensive looking bike who verbally assaulted us while we were reading from The Bible. Cops were nicer than him when they showed up.

Really beautiful Lake! I wish they had trails you could walk. A man was playing the guitar, and it made for beautiful experience, overall!

I really enjoyed my early morning hike this morning, really nice flora and fauna, plenty of good fishing, I saw some beautiful wildlife in the wetland trail, but do take care whilst walking over some of the older timbers, however at the Route 66 Amphitheater, there was rubbish strewn, which looked very unsightly, I shouldnt moan but how easy is it to take your trash back with you?

I have lived in OKC for over 20 years and have never been to Lake Overholser. It is a beautiful make with lots of areas to stop and just relax and take in the scenery. Lots of people were out fishing. It made for a nice Saturday afternoon drive.

I was fishing at Lake Overholser and this looks like Route 66 Park & Ampitheater which is a terrific place to visit also. If fishing, a state license & daily permit required for ages 16 & up. Dogs should be on a leash. Follow the rules and have fun!

Nature at its finest. Very pretty area and a paved bike path. Just watch out for the prima donna bicyclists, they hate it when youre in the way slowing them down. Beautiful lake but it seems to hold only 5 to 10 fish. Hard to catch a fish here.

Today was beautiful. The grounds were dirty but considering the 9virus I am sure park maintenance is scarce and should be. We saw a family if ducks and a small crane. Wow the cranes legs are super skinny. The park was nice in the beautiful weather that was pleasant but not too hot. Very relaxing

We went to the Route 66 Park. It is a pretty well kept park, large playground with plenty of space to run around. Its not disability friendly however. Looks like there is a small go-cart track as well but I didnt get closer to find out. There is an ice cream truck that regularly comes by. Plenty of ducks/geese and birds to feed but there isnt any benches by the water. Definitely dont leave your food unattended or else the birds will come help themselves!

This is a very nice area. There are lots of wildlife and fish (ducks, geese, beaver, catfish, turtles, carp, and heron). The park is pretty clean, but there is some trash that either blew from cars or nearby homes. We tried to pick up the water bottles and plastic bags that were close to the water. If you have children, there is a playground area close to the Route 66 area. Overall, we had a nice time. If you go in the warmer months, make sure to bring some water.

This place is so beautiful at sunset I dont want to leave.

This is a nice lake with an intermittent walking path, that varies between paved, dirt, and the road. I estimate the path to be somewhere under 10mi. The paved walking areas are very convenient and feel safe, when the paved area ends you have to share the road with the cars, who for the most part are courteous. There is varying amount of foot traffic depending on the time of the day, and a number of people fishing, but overall a quiet peace walk. There is an area that does rentals for activities such as canoeing and the like.

Great place to just chill. There are places that could use some clean up though.

Great place to walk and read. But, watch out for those looking to start trouble.

I used to love visiting this lake but it feels like OKC has forgotten its still there and dont know what to do with it now. It isnt well maintained, theres a lot of trash, and halfway down the path below the dam my daughters felt unsafe and asked to go back to the car because of how creepy the other people seemed.

It is like all parks in northwestern Oklahoma clean, pleasant, and things to do for adults and kids

We like to go fish here sometimes as well. I like to walk around on the trails or on the dam! It’s usually kept pretty clean and it’s usually pretty quiet. Lots of people but not crowded at all. Plenty of parking all throughout the park. Its a great place to visit and get away from the everyday grind of business. Its one of my personal favorites! Lots of dog walking and we have an array of water fowl that pass through at varying times of the migratory year. This one is the big open area with trees and the soccer fields. Okay so of Sand bass used live Shad or live minnows only. A wooden bridge across the pond. Lots of cleared land for flying kites or whatever you want to do! Its so beautiful and peaceful!

Discovered this gem of a place on a Saturday morning. I have lived only a few miles from here for 2 years, driven over the bridge a million times. Today I hiked sort of. I dont care for sidewalks, so I went off trail and walked mostly lakeside as much as I could. Very nice 4+ mile hike. I am a fan, I will certainly be back a lot! Lots of nice places to stop and rest. I didnt give it 5 stars, only because Id rather hike on a dirt trail rather than sidewalk!

This is where I walk every morning! I walk from my condo to thirty six street in an hour!Everyones nice that I pass and they speak and say hello or good morning and so do I !

The view was amazing the sound was peaceful it was just a place to go to clear your head.

Nice quiet spot on a weekday! Lots of areas to fish. Saw a few kayaks out on the water. Love the fact that you can drive around most of the lake. The dam is a really cool place as well.

It was alright. Just lotsa trash every where. But its beautiful water and overall scenery is very beautiful. Just gotta get the trash picked up.

Is an ice Oasis being so close. A beautiful place to see a sunset! Or take a walk with your family! And if youre in the paddle boats they got them for or kayak!

We live near this park and are very proud of that. It is a well built park and is constantly improving with new additions. Plenty of room for activities of all types.

People here do not understand how to stay 6 feet apart. If you go fishing ar the dam be prepared to have others practically come sit on your lap.

I love this Lake its clean, pet friendly and has walking and biking pathways.and not overly crowded.I live a quarter mile from the Lake and take my dog every other day,and we have a blast!

Very nice spot to take a date or family, I would recommend going before the sunset. Also looks like you can fish from the both ends. Some people who are fishing do take up the whole walking area and dont really care for people who are walking by. Check out the photos!

Its always so beautiful to just drive around and park. Very romantic especially when the moon is full and you find a good spot to see it reflect on the water and there are lights reflecting off it too. We like to go fish here sometimes as well.

There is so much to list for the entire Lake area. With the Route 66 Park, the Overholser boathouse for standing paddle boards and kayak rental. This also includes the zip line and the Grill. The Overholser dam and drainage area are one of my favorite spots for photography.

Love riding around the lake and enjoying the scenery. This place has brought peace to any hectic time in my life or even when everything is going good.

It was very relaxing, but I didnt catch any fish.

Good fresh food and good customer service.
