There is around a 10 mile lap around Hefner lake to run, ride bikes, and this park is where the your adventure begins. This park is south east of the lake off Grande, east of portland and highway 74. It has the dog park, baseball fields and a basic place to picnic and play area. Lake Hefner is a great place to boat, watch the sunrise, sunset, fish(catfish, all kinds of bass, suprisingly good walleye) good restaurants on (Britton rd), take your kids to the parks( one on each side of the lake).

This could be a cute park, but its not being well-maintained. The grass is high and it needs new mulch. Its muddy because of the mulch situation. We came in the morning on a weekday. I drove through a questionable looking neighborhood to get to the park. On top of it, we arrived being the only people around. The situation did not make me feel too comfortable and we didnt stay long.

The only bad thing I can say is trash cans were few and far between and all were overflowing. It may be COVID related...? Beautiful walking trail around the lake. Kids everywhere. Dog Friendly. Restaurant on the water. Lighthouse.

I went to take my dog to dog park! You have to be a member? Shame on you! My taxes pay upkeep on parks and you want more money? There were no forms I could fill out, no information on cost, and my dogs vet. has to fill out forms? Well I am appalled you would make a dog park for members only!

This park has beautiful views and today it was 58° and somewhat windy. Lots of birds to see, many of which were huddled together like friends, even though they were different kinds of birds. I thought that was pretty cool. Enjoyed walking the well maintained trails. My only complaint would be that someone in the city needs to empty the trashcans. They were all full.

I love Hefner Park. I go to the dog park here. Ive been going to this dog park for over 10 years. Its always very well maintained. If an aggressive dog comes in, they make them leave and are not allowed back with that aggressive dog. I love that they had two sections. Small dog side and big dog side. The big dog side has an entrance to take your dog and let them swim in the lake. During the summer, they put out a kiddy pool on the small dog side. Highly recommended!!!

Dont forget your bug spray! That is, unless being devoured by ravenous mosquito hoards that attack like ocean predators after a bait-ball while choking on the swarming gnats that kamikaze straight to the back of your throat with each of your exacerbated cries happens to be your thing. It is beautiful and peaceful as long as you shower in DEET before you go. The real DEET, Im talking the 90% carcinogen, lymphoma inducing chemical shield.

Spring has sprung and we once again have water in the lake. For those of us who sail and pay for a wet slip yearly, it would be nice if the lake had enough water to sail year round. It would also be nice if there was something to do at the lake but there isnt. The interest in boating has gone and unless you are a boat club member, there are no activities.

I was here at night to catch a new Pokemon for my grandson. I was afraid at first, but the people here were playing basketball ball, I ran others off... Ha, no. A van approached me as we were leaving and frightened me, but they were asking directions to the Stars and Stripes park... lost, needing to pick up her son & frantic. So all things happen for a reason, my being here at night!

There is a really good dog park here with a small dog section as well as a big dog section. Each section has a separate entrance & exit, each composed of double gates to lessen the chance of a dog slipping out as someone opens the gate. Keep in mind, however, this is not fullproof. If your dog is small, he/she will be able to slip under the first exit gate in the big dog section and quickly bolt out of the park the moment someone opens that second gate to leave. My pug/beagle mix did this in a flash with me standing right there and I had to dash after him. This notable space for smaller dogs to slip through in the big dog section is the only weak point of an otherwise well enclosed dog park (of note, there is no such big gap under the gates in the small dog section).

This park is a great place to bring your dog on those hot summer days. Its large and has a good concrete pad with a hose to rinse/bath your dog, a bathroom would be awesome but I know funding just might not be there for something like that. Rules are not enforced with any kind of consistency if park management is present (i. e. A family with a smaller child maybe seven years old will bill told to leave yet pitbulls will be allowed to stay) both are not allowed in the park per the posted rules, but enforcement is selective. Everybody who shows up is usually very friendly and there are normally plenty of other dogs for yours to play with! The fact that they have separate fenced parks for the smaller dogs is also nice.
