If you like drag racing and want to see the history of it or you remember it from your childhood this is the place for you. If the names like Big Daddy, The Snake or Mongoose mean anything well theyre all here. An incredible collection of rails, funny cars and all sorts of stuff in between. They have a room of just drag engines. A second building has an impressive collection of antique cars. Its open all year except for major holidays. Handicap accessible and they sell masks. They have a gift shop with some cool stuff. Ill be definitely going back for a second look!
This is an awesome museum. Having grown up in the 60s this brought back great memories. So much to see. This is a drag racers dream. All types of drag cars from the beginning. There is the drag racing hall of fame. There is an engine room. Its wall to wall all the way to the ceilings memories. Then you go next door to the Antique Car Museum. Again lots to see. Wow. Even my wife enjoyed the antiques. A must see on anyones bucket list.
This museum has the largest and most in-depth collection of drag rails, funny cars, and immaculately restored classic cars I have been to. The information presented is accurate and detailed, the cars kept clean, and the presentation is well organized even with the very large sum of things to look at and read. The staff is friendly and this is a great place for gearheads to stop by and see some history of where todays drag racing came from. I had a great time and want to take my kids here when theyre older so they can see the evolution of racing. Well worth the drive.
To be honest, I had overshot my exit on I-75 and I pulled in to turn around. But first, I had a look around. Pretty cool. Im not sure what the A-7 Corsair has to do with Don Garlits or with drag racing in general but it was cool to see it there. Don is a Tampa native. He had his shop just off of I-275 near Ybor City for years. Drove by it many times.
Fantastic self paced museum. I learned a lot and my sons had a great time too. They were super excited. The staff were very homely and friendly, and the museum was well kept. Will definitely be coming back. Only thing that would have made it better would be meeting Don Garlit himself.
We did the tour and got to meet Don Garlits. Absolutely amazing to hear the stories and see the history. You could spend weeks walking around and not see every little detail would love to go in there and just hear the story of every car thats there and where it came from and how it ended up Donna is such an ambassador to the sport doing all he can to preserve the history and share it with those that have come after. really humble man. super cool to meet him. just well worth the time
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the museum. Both the dragon part of the museum and the Antique car sections were totally impressive. They did a fabulous job of labeling everything. The museum includes an amazing amount of memorabilia from drag racing and in the antique car section I have never seen so many one of a kind and beautifully restored and original cars. They also have a lot of things like gas pumps, juke boxes, tools, and more —a fabulous collection of memorabilia. Absolutely worth the admission price. Not to be missed
What an exceptional treat for my birthday from my mother, who used to be a drag racers wife, only to have her two sons grow up to be lifelong gearheads. This museum is a true treasure of drag racing history. 100s of modern era, classic, and vintage rails, diggers, funny cars, motorcycles, jr. dragsters, engine displays, trophies, posters and more. Including a complete separate building including nearly 100 customs, classics, and Hot Rods. The highlight of an already wonderfully nostalgic visit... meeting Big Daddy Don Garlits himself. With a worldly smile, and still a firm handshake he graciously signed two t-shirts for me. And just about anything else the other visitors would present. A true gentleman of the gentlemans sport.
Its been 30 years ( or close to it )since I have been here. It has grown a bunch! Great place, with tons of cars, packed full of history! Plus a antique car museum.
It was incredible too see how far drag racing has come since the early years. Don being a pioneer in the Top Fuel category, it goes through the years. It was awesome!
We visited on 8/15 and didnt realize that it was dog friendly. We were traveling and stopped and thought one of us would have to wait in the car and we were pleasantly surprised. We spend over 2 hours here since my husband loves racing and I love old cars. My dogs name is Dodge and Don Garlits raced many Dodges that were on site to take photos with. We would return and we will probably take my parents
Wow. Impressive history Of Drag Racing. Lots of memorabilia, dragsters, engines and racing cars. Very informative. And the best woman drag racer Short movie and gift shop. 3 buildings of drag cars, stock cars and vintage cars. One building has 93 beautifully restored or maintained antique cars and more. Worth the trip. Allow at least 2-3 hours.
Always wanted to go here! Big Daddy is STILL RACING! He is 88yrs young and going for a 200MPH Electric Car record (in the quarter mile I imagine...what a guy!) Almost 300 Race, Antique, Muscle, and Motorcycles to check out. BRING YOUR CAMERA! AWESOME...I passed by this probably over one hundred times and FINALLY had an opportunity to stop. Military Discount too!!! Thanks Don for a GREAT afternoon!!!
Such an awesome museum, rich with racing memorabilia. I did not know anything about racing a vehicle, but now I am a little more knowledgeable. Absolutely the most amazing collection I have ever seen.
If youre a drag racing fan, this museum is tops! Big Daddy has so many cars on display and historical trip through time. Its a must see!!!
I loved it! You can spend 2-8 hours and not see everything. Well organized. Everyone is friendly. Big Daddy wasnt there the day I was I still think it was a day well spent! If you like drag racing, this place is a gold mine.

I visited the museum on Father’s Day. Absolutely blown away. So much more then I expected. Drag cars, vintage cars, muscle cars, engine room and more. super clean and neat displays. Friendly staff. Highly recommended. I will most definitely return.
Fantastic time, great museum, terrific race cars and antiques. Pet friendly, always a good time
$20 admission. Plan on 3 hours (this is someone who likes cars, but isnt into drag racing - if youre into drag racing, easily double that). In addition to the building full of drag racing / funny cars (over 100), there is a second building full of 92 classic cars. There is a specific area set aside with parking for 12 semis with trailers or the longest of RVs, and is across from the Pilot truck stop.
An amazing place to visit while in Central Florida. You can re-live some serious DRAG RACING HISTORY!
Beautiful cars friendly people Got to meet Big Daddy Don Garlets Will be back

Amazing place to visit. Gotta love racing to enjoy this place. Amazing
Had a great time.. real nice place to visit
An awesome Drag Car Museum located right off of Interstate 275 near Ocala on exit 341. This museum is a blast from the past of drag car racing as well as automotive memorabilia. There are two large warehouses that are air conditioned. A modest $20 entrance fee, AAA discount given, gets you into both areas. The main Warehouse has drag cars that were driven by Donald Garlits a world famous drag car racer and Builder. The second building has a huge collection of very old automobiles impressive that I have never seen such a collection in one place. They even have a room dedicated to automobile engines. Very worth the time to stop and check it out. They have a small gift shop that is also cool.
First time visited really enjoyed myself if your a drag racing fan you definitely need to stop in if your close by
Great place to see the history of drag racing !!
This place was much better than we thought it would be. 1 large building dedicated to drag racing and another large building with about a 100 antique cars. I would highly recommend a visit, my wife even enjoyed it.
My 9 year old daughter asked me to take her. We spent 3 hours touring. It was great, and she loved it.
Great! My family and I enjoyed it very much.
So much history and information. Great experience for all ages
If you like drag racing, then youll love this place
Wonderful walk through drag racing history
Amazing congregation of the history of drag racing, along with other antique items to check out. Really takes you back
Nice place, good customer service, beautiful cars... what more can you ask for?
I was able to talk to Don for the first time ever and listen to stories only he can tell. If were ever a fan he is not getting younger so go see it you will also want to Visit Dons Garage.
Amazing history awesome place
Very cool collection of historic drag racing cars. Interesting video vignettes describes the advancement of vehicles. Friendly staff. Easy parking. Gift shop with interesting knick knacks. Two separate museums housing vehicles. I appreciated the opportunity to reuse the tickets later in the afternoon in case we took a break for lunch.
Outstanding museum. Too much to really see in one visit.
I went to Ocala for a confetence and slept at Sleep Inn Hotel. The museum was conveniently located at the hotels walking distance. The amount of dragsters, racing cars and history memorabilia was really impressive. On a different building there was an antique and classic cars museum that was a nice extra touch.
This place is amazing!! There is so much to see. Drag cars modern and classic. All kinds of memorabilia, from pictures to trophies. And its right off the highway, so its an easy addition to your roadtrip.
Way more than a drag racing museum. This is a car history and car culture museum as well. Rivalling any Smithsonian in level of detail, original car products from simple oil cans, old garage signs, to old cash registers and time-accurate furniture, the attention to authenticity of time, place, and culture is uncanny and magical Of course the cars and drag racing memorabilia, information, and sheer number of models is just as epic. An awesome, totally rad place for an education.
Awesome place. Tremendous History of Drag Racing.
Story boards to provide context were very helpful. Great selection of dragsters from all eras plus a fine selection of classic automobiles.
Awesome museum! Everything from dragsters to model Ts. All kinds of oil drag racing memorabilia, some great films and documentaries about Don in the history of drag racing! Just a real nice place to visit and fairly inexpensive as well. We would all highly recommend this is a place that you cant miss! Enjoy yourself if you go!!!
Excellent displays. Great collection.
A great place to go if you love history on drag racing motors classic cars this place is a great place to go
Had a great experience here with my father. This is a must for any car guy or gal.Admission prices were fair, t-shirts and gift shop had in my opinion really good prices.I know I came home with several shirts, stickers and signed memorabilia, the staff was friendly and the whole entire experience is something I would do again and recommend.
Completely worth the drive, time and money! Will definitely go again just to finish seeing everything. Nicely laid out and the staff is awesome. Unfortunately I got there at 2pm and didnt have enough time to see everything!
Great collection of race cars and history...
An informative collection of racing history. The actual cars, trophies and articles are primary resources revealing details which are impressive. We enjoyed our visit and the racing film about drag racing.
Omg best museum for any petrol head coming to the area they even offer private tours by Don himself.....
Another great car museum if youre into old cars and drag racing! Museum can be seen from Interstate 75 and is easy to get to. Tired of driving make a quick stop, stretch you legs, and stroll through history!
Drag car lovers delight. Kind of expensive. Lots to see. Plan on about 2-3 hrs.
Planned on about a half hour. Ended up spending two! Awesome place. Be sure to see the room full of engines and parts.
If youre a car guy, this place is a must see. Two museums; one with all the Swamp Rats, and other famous drag racers, a separate room with amazing engines and the second has antique cars galore. Worth every penny. And veterans receive a discount.
I loved the classic car collection. The cars are restored to immaculate condition. They all just looked like they rolled off the assembly line. I am 63 years young and have seen a many classic cars but none as beautiful as this collection. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Florida.
Great place with the most beautiful cars.
Very cool museum if youre into drag racing and mid to late 20th century vehicles.
He has been my hero for 40 years. Finally got to go. He was and still is an amazing man. This is a great place i highly recommend it.
Loved the museum! Everyone that works there is really nice and helpful. The drag racing part has so many different cars and a ton of memorabilia. The antique cars side is full of some amazing classic and muscle cars. There is so much to see. I spent 2 hours there and I could have spent more.
Its mind blowing how many cars they have here. Looking at all the pictures on the walls is like going back in time. A one of a kind place well worth the price of admission.
It was fantastic seeing all the cars on display
This museum is full of drag racing history, but theres much more than that! Theres a second building, filled with all sorts of antiques and antique cars.
Saw this place 20 years ago and finally able to make it would love to go back and take a fool to one to get more detail on each car
Awesome place, a lot of priceless vehicles, motors, antiques.
Excellent stop for car people. Lots of variety and plenty of drag racing history. When we visited a few years ago it was basically empty when we visited during MLB spring training which was great. Impressive how many cars are packed into the few buildings that are on the property. Staff was friendly and its a good place to kill a few hours walking around.
Love the museum and even met Don Garlits in person!
A great place to see drag racing history and classic cars. Worth every penny, want to go again. Friendly
I always enjoy the museum I have been going since I was a kid. If you like cars and drag racing this is the spot !

Amazing place full of auto and drag racing history. Plan to spend 3+ hrs here.
Visiting for the first time simply amazing
If you happen to find yourself in Ocala, FL, you need to see this place.I helped my friend surprise his dad for his birthday, by showing up unannounced to the private tour with Don. All I can say is WOW! It was a once in a lifetime experience. While I highly recommend that you get the private tour if possible, the museum was also very interesting to explore. Make sure you have plenty of time to look around, because there are tons of cars to look at and read about. This place is a treasure, and well worth the price of admission.
Very nice museum with lot of different era vehicles. Worth a visit if you got nothing to do and love cars
If you like dragracing, youll love this place. Many old dragsters and funny cars. Go here and learn the history of the sport.
Awesome been wanting to go for years.
Just had to stop. Expensive but well worth it. Could have spent days. The museum is PACKED with memorabilia, all things motors and of course cars. Easy on/off i75, rv parking, fuel and food nearby.
Amazing car and drag racing museum
Great place to spend a couple hours. No where else has this much racing history under one roof
One of the best places for Racing and classic car lovers! Must visit!
If your a gear head of any age its a must see. Don Garletss museum of drags racing has a plethora of information about drag racing from the first rail, (The Bug) many of Dons personal cars, lenders cars and an engine room. Thats worth the price of admission alone. You might meet Don there. But wait the is a hole nother building included with your ticket. This building has a unbelievable line up antique and muscle cars. A special thanks to Mr. Garletss for preserving 50 plus years of drag racing history with out him we couldnt appreciate so much history in one place. THANK YOU DON.
Love that race shop smell! Great historical collection of cars and racing memorabilia.
Drag Racing History! If you you are into drag racing and you know a bit about Don Garlits, this museum is a must see. The museum also has cars from other drivers as well. 2 complete rooms of cars to see. Also an engine room! There is a 2nd building that houses classic cars and other historical items.
This place has an unbelievable collection of classic cars! The dragster and engine/parts collections were excellent as well, but my favorite part by far was the diverse collection of classic cars from a tremendous variety of makes and eras.Give this place a chance if youre a car guy. You wont be disappointed. Bring some quarters for the jukebox! The sound is fantastic!
Two museums in one. NHRA and antique cars - in a separate building. He even has a mockup of an old garage from long ago in the building. Well worth the trip.
